Finnegan Posted 7 February 2010 Author Posted 7 February 2010 Not a easy group but a interesting one against some decent teams....and Wales Aaron Ramsey's going to fuck you up!
Sparky Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Aaron Ramsey's going to fook you up! It would be like Toshack to leave him on the bench !!
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2010 Author Posted 7 February 2010 It would be like Toshack to leave him on the bench !! yeah. There's no room for him in our 8 1 1 formation.
lcfc_jme Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Group B: Russia, Slovakia, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, Macedonia, Armenia, Andorra Not the worst group ever, I suppose. Win every home game and avoid defeats away in Russia and Slovakia should be more than good enough, I'd think. Though no doubt that'll now mean a 4th placed finish and a disappointing away defeat in Macedonia, with a dismal draw in Armenia. Battling 1-0 defeat away in Russia and a complete dicking away to Slovakia as well, probably. Meh, better group to be in than NI or Scotland.. As for Ingerlunds group, I'd love to see Wales get the 2nd spot, few exciting young talents there would be a shame to see them wasted.
Webbo Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Didn't they sell out the Milli Stad for the recent WC qualifier? That was sort of my point.
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2010 Author Posted 7 February 2010 That was sort of my point. Oh. Then refer to my previous post, I assumed you were agreeing with me because you'd be stupid not to. We're not going to sell out the Millenium Stadium any time soon unless they drastically lower the prices and start properly marketing it again. We hate England, yes, but we also know the statistical likelihood of us beating them at football is next to fuck all. Welsh fans are fickle, you're really not as big a draw as you think. When I say 36'000 I'm actually being pretty optimistic. Our attendances there have been an embarrassment of late. When Earnie slapped a hattrick past the Scots in the Millenium Stadium there were about fourty five thousand there. When we played them again recently the only reason Cardiff's ground was over half full is because they brought an enormous contingency.
Webbo Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Oh. Then refer to my previous post, I assumed you were agreeing with me because you'd be stupid not to. You don't think Wales v England at the millenium stadium will sell out then?
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2010 Author Posted 7 February 2010 You don't think Wales v England at the millenium stadium will sell out then? Read the above. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be wrong. But in my experience? No.

Secondly if Leicester played Man U the chances of us winning would be similar but we'd still sell out on the off chance that we'd beat them. Some might say it was to see top players but for the majority of us it would be the chance to see us stick it up the big boys.
MC Prussian Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Interesting to see the English vs. Welsh debate already heating up (in a way). Although as the FIFA rankings show, you ought to be even more afraid of Montenegro and Bulgaria : (But to tell you the truth - the FIFA Rankings are more than just stupefying... ahem...)
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2010 Author Posted 7 February 2010 No, you're not, and we care a lot more about yourself than Scotland but the point is the same and that - despite local connections - attendances have dropped severely. We don't sell out, we don't half fill the ground anymore. Yes, of course we'll get a larger attendance against England than most other teams, even Germany and Russia, but for us getting fourty thousand in the Millenium Stadium is a good attendance. Last time we played you tickets were cheaper, we had thousands more debenture holders, a popular manager, a realistic chance of beating you, high expectation after almost winning our qualifying group, a team full of well known players and general high Welsh interest in international football. We don't have any of those things now. Why are you even bothering to argue with me? Edit: For the record, Russia at home was 14'000, Germany at home was 26'000.
Webbo Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Why are you even bothering to argue with me? It's my purpose in life.
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2010 Author Posted 7 February 2010 It's my purpose in life. You're destined to a life of ridicule.
Webbo Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 You're destined to a life of ridicule. I'll take that chance
Finnegan Posted 7 February 2010 Author Posted 7 February 2010 You could always just get a hard on for someone else.
Webbo Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 You could always just get a hard on for someone else. I've not got anything against you. You said something I disagreed with so I disagreed with you, time will tell who's right. That purpose in life quip was just just a silly answer to a silly question.
Lillehamring Posted 7 February 2010 Posted 7 February 2010 Good little group there. No long trips into the eastern parts of the continent. Portugal favorites of course, but we (Denmark) had the better of them in the WC qualifier although we had some serious rub of the green. Like the Nordic touch, should make our stadiums full. Also Cyprus can be a pain in Cyprus, didn't they whack Ireland a few years ago? well, we, ahem, norway screwed up the WC qualifiers by dropping silly points in both games against iceland, but were starting to look pretty decent when they brought huseklep into the team - but still very defensive (unsurprisingly) but might squeeze a cheeky 2nd place..
shen Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 well, we, ahem, norway screwed up the WC qualifiers by dropping silly points in both games against iceland, but were starting to look pretty decent when they brought huseklep into the team - but still very defensive (unsurprisingly) but might squeeze a cheeky 2nd place.. Happy with that draw. I'm looking forward to the derbies, my in laws being Norwegian, but the dreary way Norway play under Drillo doesn't excite me much.
The Doctor Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 When do the first set of fixtures take place?
Uncle Albert Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 oh no, how will we cope? You wont be able to cope thats the point, your 76th in the world.. Montenegro are higher than you. If England don't take 24 points from this group then it's been a bad qualifying campaign, personally. We are so much ahead of these nations and to say this isnt an easy group is pretty bad.

I'm looking forward to the derbies, my in laws being Norwegian, but the dreary way Norway play under Drillo doesn't excite me much. that's a fair point, but i saw the games against scotland and, um, slovakia or someone, and they played awesome - huseklepp makes the difference, i'd love him to sign for city
Hitesh Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 How many tickets will they give to England if the game is played at the Millenium stadium?? I reckon we could fill that ground and make it more of a home game for us. I just hope the Welsh FA don't be silly and give us a small allocation.
Bert Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 This is my view. We should win the group. Personally I'd expect 12 points from Montenegro and Wales. Away trips to Switzerland and Bulgaria will not be easy and we can't afford to underestimate them, else we'll get turned over, more so in Switzerland than in Bulgaria though. We can't expect to win every game, and although it'd be nice, I'd be happy with a point in Switzerland who I see as our main rivals. Hoping that I can get to both games against the Welsh.
Tommeh Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 Find it hard to believe the Millenium would not be full for Englands visit if i'm honest. Even if we have to take 50,000 over with thousands in the home ends. I appreciate it has been discussed to death however, finners.
