Monk Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Sorry, I'm at work and the sound is off, but Milan is currently on Sky News talking about football finances. If anyone has any further info stick it in here.
Daggers Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Chairman Milan Mandaric has supported calls for tougher financial regulation of Premier League clubs. "We talk about running it as a business but we aren't running it with a business sense" "There has to be order from authorities from the League and it's the only way we will see progress in football in financing terms"

I'm sure that's what he was thinking.

hairy Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 All this because Pompy might go under. Why did they ignore all the other clubs that did and declare a crisis now?
argyle_dude Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 All this because Pompy might go under. Why did they ignore all the other clubs that did and declare a crisis now? Because Pompey are in the premiership
Rocket-Ron Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Because Pompey are in the premiership And the FA cup. Still means something to some people
Thracian Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 If we can stop the tax man sticking his nose in I'd be all for it! I'm sure that's what he was thinking. I wouldn't altogether blame him for taking that attitude. Judging by his ability to show profits and, at the same time, keep people employed I'd say the money is likely to be more sensibly used in his hands than the government's who seem only focused on increasing the nation's already shocking debt still further. Taxation levels in this country are criminal and are being increasingly made the worse by the incompetents we have plundering our precious earnings which in any case, buy less and less by the day. While we pay the highest percentage of direct and indirect taxation we've ever known, at the other end of Europe the Bulgarians pay a flat rate 10% and still offer top quality health care and decent education. Worse, this government seems to make some of us pay ever more and ever different taxes on the same items yet our people don't have either the unity or the sense of purpose to protest. In fact wait a few months and there are some, so blinkered, they'll vote for more. Me, I see no reason why the better off should give more tax to an incompetent and misguided government. Only that they should be encouraged to do proportionately more to help/employ/educate/mentor/motivate others to be successful. Giving money to this lying, corrupt and self-serving lot is just like throwing money into a waste paper shredder.

Mentions us and the Bulgarians, no mention of the numerous other european countries that have tax levels higher than ours. Stick to the football Thracian, you make sense with that and imo are well worth reading. Politics don't normally rear their ugly head on this board and your politics are most definitely of the ugly variety.
hackneyfox Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 If I want politics or you want to rant then Bentleys Roof is the place to be. I come on here for the football.
Thracian Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Are you in full election mode already?? No. It's just that the irony struck me of how money is increasingly extracted from the successful to be used by often demonstrably incompetent theorists who somehow believe they can spend it better, if not on themselves!

Well if he spent this sum getting Redknapp back to Portsmouth allegedly then it was completely wasted - when it comes to spending money in the football arena Mandaric is hardly a suitable role model.

But on checking the small print I don't see our taxation rate as lower than most others especially when you read the small print, consider the latest proposals and add on the horrendous stealth taxes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_rates_of_Europe http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/garbagegate/item2/stealth.htm http://www.newlabourscandals.co.uk/stealthxtaxes.html
hackneyfox Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Please Thracian, give it a rest. This is a football website not somewhere for you to start airing your political views. Apologies from me as I also spouted some as well.

I can look closer to home than Portsmouth for some wacky spending but even with the seemingly silly spending at Leicester early on I think he got a bargain when he took us on and seriously doubt that he'll end up with a bottom line anything like as embarrassing as our government's. In fact looking at our squad now and our position in the race for a play-off place I'd say there was a fighting chance of him showing a healthy return on his investment whatever else happens when he finally sells up. Just as he did at Portsmouth. Whatever, and there's more to his success than just football, I'd sure like to see the UK boasting the sort of credible bank balance that he does. I wonder if Mandaric would have sold our gold just before the biggest price hike ever!

Apologies from me as I also spouted some as well. I was just giving you the courtesy of a reply seeing as you sounded so dismissive of my comments and so sure of your own. As for Bentleys Roof I've never been on it and have no interest in it. You by all means contribute to any fan site you like but I'll stick to this one, thanks. Perhaps you could simply view Bentleys as a potential haven.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought— So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought. And as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! and through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. "And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" He chortled in his joy. 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.

I spend most of my time on Bentleys and we discuss all manner of things. I come on here for the football, and really don't want this site spoilt by politics. You have a good standing on here due to your in depth knowledge of football. You obviously feel you have the same about politics. And perhaps cat litter. I honestly don't want your opinion on either. We all have our opinions on Leicester the club, the players, tactics, NFP and the music played, but underneath that we are all Leicester fans. Please don't split this board with your political beliefs which, thankfully, nobody appears to have any interest in.

I merely responded. c) I actually have very little interest in party politics, except perhaps for disliking it. I stand for no party and claim no expertise whatsoever. But I do know a bunch of calculating confidence tricksters, media manipulators and bullshitters when I come across them, whatever their politics. And I utterly resent being governed by a bunch of disreputable, thieving, liars who would say absolutely anything to further their own ideas and ideologies while leaving others to pick up the tab for their economic irresponsibly, social security cheques in place of the jobs they've lost due to entirely clandestine social re-organisation and the undertaker's bill for the slaughtered or shattered men, women and children they've left dead in the wake of their arguably illegal foreign policy. My views won't "split" anyone. I'd doubt that anything will change most of the people who've sanctioned the above with their votes.
hackneyfox Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 I'd happily discuss this with you on a POLITICAL FORUM. On here it is just boring
