Matt Posted 15 May 2005 Posted 15 May 2005 Just seen the interview with him I reckon he'll go, He was talking about next season and he was saying "They" not we, not us, they, the interviewer asked if he will be staying he didn't say he just said well i'll have to sit down and talk to the board. I mean this could just be Harry's initial emotions but I still don't think he'll stay!

But after holding talks with chairman Rupert Lowe, he said: "We had a good meeting, it was nice and positive. "When I walked off the pitch on Sunday, the fans were fantastic and there was no doubt that I wanted to stay." Redknapp was given time to consider his future by chairman Rupert Lowe, and the former West Ham and Portsmouth boss has decided to remain with the Saints. "I sat down with the chairman and went through the squad looking at next season," he added. "What is important is that we try to keep hold of our best players. "You've got to keep them and give us a chance of getting up, all I wanted was confirmation of that from the chairman that we will look to keep the best players here and add one or two free transfers or whatever we can find." There will almost certainly be changes to the Southampton squad for next season, with Redknapp already critical of the number of players at the club. Loan signings Henri Camara and Calum Davenport are set to return to Wolves and Tottenham respectively, while free transfer arrival Olivier Bernard is on a short-term contract and is unlikely to remain. Former England player Graeme Le Saux is believed to have decided to retire and Anders Svensson, Darren Kenton, Jo Tessem, Jamie Redknapp, Brett Ormerod and Jason Dodd are all likely to be released

I can't see Crouch staying - it must be too tempting to sell him and I could see them getting roughly the same as Beattie for him. I would guess that there's a relegation clause in his contract that says he can go if a team (not Pompey!) stumps up £XM for him. Neither Lowe or Harry are known for their total honesty. I'd be surprised if he is still there by August.

Redknapp will have crisis talks this weekend knowing that influential voices at St Mary's are looking to squeeze him out. Smith was bounced out last night - the first casualty in a cost-cutting drive - and Redknapp, fiercely loyal to a good friend he took first to Portsmouth and then to St Mary's, looks on borrowed time too. Redknapp took charge halfway through the season but was unable to halt Southampton's slide towards relegation. Some directors believe he should have done better. Saints failed on the final day of the season as West Brom, who appointed Bryan Robson around the same time as Redknapp joined Saints, completed an incredible escape from relegation. The south coast side will have to operate on a savagely-reduced budget and directors are keen to appoint someone who has proved he can work under such constraints. The Soton directors/board need to be taught a lesson about having faith in their managers, I hope they spend a good few years languishing in the Championship now <_<

Two fingers up from Sturrock there. I can't see Harry actually wanting to manage in the Football League again, especially on the terms Saints will offer him. He likes money to spend on and off the pitch - and he ain't gonna get either with Saints this season.
