80 Days to go :D

Are those GMT?

They are indeed

Shame it's not like the ones in 2006, 2pm,5pm,8pm, they were perfect, but they're still good times.

Cannot wait, that is my month off, I will do NOTHING in that month at all! :D

well, i finish my final exam two days before the start of the tournament and don't return till the start of july so that's looking like a quality month.

Just one question though - Why have BBC got the final england match, I thought ITV had the rights to all england matches? :dunno:

They have the rights to England home matches.

I think its stupid that! England are playing neutral matches... yet they still are petty over TV rights...

All this for an extra fiver!

I hopefully would have finished my exams by the time england play thier second game :D And they play on my birthday :D :D

As Cardiff Fox says, they have the rights to the home internationals and qualifiers.

The World Cup matches, along with the Euros, are sold seperately, as they're owned by FIFA/UEFA (depending on tournament) The matches are then split 50/50 by the BBC and ITV.

For example, ITV are desperate to maximise their revenues, just in case England go out early. So much so that they sacrifice the Last 16 and Quarter-finals in order to get the first two games, they also had to sacrifice the Brazil-Portugal game in order to secure it.

Interestingly (for me anyway) the World Cups in 1990,1994 and 1998, both the BBC and ITV paid just £3.5m EACH to FIFA for the rights, so you can imagine the riches for ITV there. Now though, the BBC and ITV pay £55m EACH, after FIFA sold the rights to a third party, who then sell them on.

If England get to the Semi-finals, both broadcasters will show the game, and ITV have the 3rd/4th place game.

Have never looked forward to a World Cup so much in my entire life

Probably to do with the fact that it's Algeria's first world cup in my life time

Seriously cannot wait

Even if i only get to see Algeria play 3 games

I couldn't agree more Germany 06 was Australias first world cup of my life time and to surpass expectations was even better.

But this World cup the build up has been huge from my point of view I booked to go 12 months ago with 7 other mates. Now I leave in 9 weeks Friday I can't think about any thing else.

You won't be seeing any of Patrick Kisnorbo out there though!

Thank fook for that, I much prefer Neill and Moore in defence with Spiranovich as back up.

This will be the first world cup that i'll be at home for in my lifetime. Every other year i've been in France, so I fully intend on pigging out on the whole tournament.

People seem to forget that there isn't much of a time difference between South Africa and here... I think it's +1 hour... which means that the games will be shown at reasonable times. :)

However, can't say I'm looking forward to England being on ITV! Bloody hate their coverage... BBC is FAR better. However, que sera sera!

Does any one know if FIFA banned those horns the locals use at matches, cant remember the name of them? Just that they were fooking annoying

I posted a link in GenChat about an automatic calendar download. I can't be pissed to find it, but it's there.

If anyone uses Google Calendar there's a link to it all here

Edit: For anyone who doesn't realise, you can add it to your own calendar using the button in the bottom right.

Vuvuzelas.

Not heard anything to say they are banned.

They've not been banned. It was bought up, but FIFA basically said that there's no point in going to Africa, a new culture, a new place, and banning the things they use, just because it inconveniences us.

Anyway, I doubt you'll hear them as strongly as the Confed. Cup, especially as most matches will have supporters of their nations, rather than a crowd of natives. Unless England fans in SA take to them...

Anyone got one of those excel sheets where you put the scores in and it completes the tables etc. Good for putting expected results in etc to see who we would face in the knockouts or what time to book the plane home?

I had a FIFA one last time
