AaronH Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Ladbrokes have given odds of 8/1 to takeover celtic surely he wouldnt go up there
Ozwin Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 I think they'll go after someone more proven tbh, Mowbray did more than Pearson has and looked what he's done.
Guest Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 I guess with the loan window closing, there has to be something to speculate about.
Guest Bilo Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 No chance. He isn't high profile enough for them. They've gone for young up-and-coming manager from the Championship already and it's proved a spectacular failure. Mark Hughes might be worth a shout after being very unfortunate to lose his job at Eastlands.
Edmund Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 I reckon Lambert will be their number one choice but even then I don't think he will leave as his job at Norwich is still unfinished.
Koke Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Mowbray has achieved more than Pearson has, and look how he has done. Celtic is bigger than Pearson.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 I reckon Lambert will be their number one choice but even then I don't think he will leave as his job at Norwich is still unfinished. Have you seen his employment history, it's a miracle he's not left Norwich yet, he's already proven notorious for swapping jobs. Mowbray has achieved more than Pearson has, and look how he has done. Celtic is bigger than Pearson. Agreed.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Skysports says Neil Lennon has agreed to take over. That's only on a game by game basis until a new manager has been found...
flanimal Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Celtic is a crap managerial position. Their fans demand you win the league, and it's a dodgy league. You'd be mad to go there.
Donut Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Two Words: Poisoned Challis Scottish football is in total decline and Pearson has a genuine chance of leading a team he and his backroom staff put together back into the best league in the world just 2 years on from the lowest point in the clubs history. I would go as far as saying that IF and i stress the word IF Pearson led us into the prem this season, he would probably have the job as long as HE wanted it, i think he would be above sacking, genuinely. Totally playing devils advocate here and dont want to cause trouble............ IF pearson LEFT for Celtic would you have Mowbray down at the Walkers?
Edmund Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Have you seen his employment history, it's a miracle he's not left Norwich yet, he's already proven notorious for swapping jobs. True but I'd doubt that he'd leave without collecting his medal with so few games to go.
Dylan Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 If Pearson does go, am I the only one who wouldn't mind having Mowbray?

Webbo Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Celtic will probably wait until the end of the season before appointing a permanent manager anyway.

Mad to go there!!?! ! Celtic is a massive massive club, just look at the thousands of fans that stood out on a freezing Glasgow February night when Robbie Keane arrived. They are a huge club despite the poor standard of the SPL. Plus they're in Europe without fail every season, either Champions League or Europa League. would you have Mowbray down at the Walkers? Yes, proven at this level.

They are a huge club despite the poor standard of the SPL. Plus they're in Europe without fail every season, either Champions League or Europa League. It's a poisoned challice. You compete with Rangers every season, then you have a shitty run in Europe where you win nothing. Granted. The fans are committed, it's a big club, but the fans are intolerant, impatient, and generally glory seeking fanatics who care little about football as a game, and solely about triumph. Celtic arn't even rich anymore, and the Scots league is going nowhere. Unless you're a Celtic fan, like Robbie Keane, I couldn't understand going there. It's not even like it's a nice place.
FoxyPV Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 The main reason you go to Celtic is because you are a supporter. You might go if you were an aspiring manager who wanted to test themselves in Europe in the hope of getting a better job in England. It says it all when Strachan left Celtic to go to Middlesboro for fvucksake! Pearson wouldn't dream of it as managing in the championship is preferable for most managers by far.
Tommeh Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Moving to Celtic would be a step back for Pearson, despite the size of them. I can't see him doing an MON. Joke of a club in a joke of a league.
Karljohn Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Cannot see NP passing up the possible chance of going to the premiership with us just to play Rangers every 3 months and get hammered in Europe 5-0 by some Latvian minnows. MON was happy to jump up and down at Kilmarnock and St Mirren in front of 3,000 fans, somehow I do not see NP following suit!
iancognito Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 Mad to go there!!?! ! Celtic is a massive massive club, just look at the thousands of fans that stood out on a freezing Glasgow February night when Robbie Keane arrived. They are a huge club despite the poor standard of the SPL. Plus they're in Europe without fail every season, either Champions League or Europa League. Having thousands of sadacts standing in the rain when you sign a reasonable player doesn't make it a massive club, it just means that there's thousands of jobless Catholics in Glasgow with nothing better to do with their time. The same is true of the jobless miners in Newcastle who arrive in their droves whenever a half-decent manager takes over/player signs. If I had no job or could survive on state handouts, I'd be there every time we bring a loan signing in, waving my scarf and wearing a four-year old replica shirt. Celtic & Rangers are the football clubs of the two biggest religious sects in Scotland, failure is finishing second and only a complete numpty or a supremely confident man not afraid of being attacked by religious bigots, would want to work there. It'll be Hughes, Hiddink or Scolari. Although if it's Megson I'll laugh for a week.
