Leicester City Away Fans

Valid.

Luckily I'm not a sufferer but most of my family are, and I suspect they'd share the same sensible attitude as you in this case.

Besides, I'd much rather see a whole away end on their feet and decked out in black than half a dozen flares being lit.

What about both, which is what you see in other european stadiums.

They are used in Germany every single weekend and to go further the US too.

Not true really, Flares in Germany are saved for special occasions...Wouldnt say they are used every weekend.

You can see flares throughout all three major leagues in Germany... So the quota of one-flare-per-weekend is pretty much valid, actually.

I demand a flare quota in this country. :protest:

I wonder whether Brown or Cameron will be first to recognisee the awesome pulling power of the pro-flare voter before the election...

most fans these day with official replica merchandise are ******. Still good numbers at other and our club who are not though. United away support is often completely black. Brilliant.

Er, yes, I know all that. I was simply wondering what school children's sports days / trips out had to do with flares at football matches?

Tenuous link, surely? But still, if it provides 'ammunition' for your argument, then go for it! :giggle:

Not using that as a link to the exact same situation (I.E. flare at a football ground), but rather to the wider issue of health and safety obsession in this country (of which banning of flares from football grounds is NOT a part by the way, only the mass hysteria that greets ones setting off).

Hmm, I'm not liking your use of emphasis on the word asthma, possibly implying that it's something not worth worrying about.

There are still around 1200 asthma deaths in the UK each year, and as someone who needs to take inhalers and tablets every day to keep it under control, trying to watch a football match amidst hundreds of flares wouldn't be my idea of 'safe'.

I think the odd flare now and again is fine, and if one is bought in and I feel I'm too close to it I'd happily move for my own safety. Surrounded by them though? No thanks.

And as I've said, ooh, maybe 5 or 6 times so far in this thread, I'm not trying to say that hundreds of flares would be a good thing in a football stadium. I for one, though not an asthma sufferer, would still feel pretty damn unsafe in some of the crowds on the video that sparked this little difference in opinion.

If you think "the odd flare now and again is fine", then we're in complete agreement. The problem is lots of others don't even agree that "the odd one" is acceptable. It is those people with whom I have a lack of understanding.

Really struggling to see how I can make myself any clearer, though any suggestions are more than welcome.

Yer thats pretty true. 90% of our fans are poor. Only proper fans are those in l1 and those at top of kop. That middle block in the in the Kop kills the atmopshere in the Kop. I guess many of the ****** who ruin our away support sit in that middle block in the Kop

I struggle to see why people have such an issue with people wearing replica shirts.

What makes a person superior because they wear a black top? Laughable.

People can wear what they want and personally I don't judge someone at the game by what there kitted out in.

Wearing a replica shirt is absolutely ridicolous, its fundamentally wrong on several basises, which i do not have time to go into

Man United away support- all stands, all loud, boisterous, all black, most drunk.

Reading away support- all sit, silent, visit the club shop before, all striped up in shirts. All modern plastic families sucked into modern football.

Which one would make a better away day?

United. all day long.

We are somewhere in the middle. Its the mindset of the fans, what they want to achieve from the day. I prefer the first one. Some will, some wont. Here is where conflict arises.

And full of idiots if you ask some of the United away support. Charging turnstiles at Man City and Villa. Smashing up kiosk's at Oakwell. Apparently a real nasty element is amongst them at the minute.

How times have changed. I remember when black fans were the minority among the terraces.

ignore my previous sarcastic posts. Your always going to get a big of trouble, i would rather our support was Manchester Uniteds away support. Thats proper hardcore football support. Readings and ours at times is Rugby support, filled with happy family clappers. Football is a passionate sport with passionate fans lets keep it that way. If you dont like it go and support Tigers.

All these years of following Leicester City and I've just found out I'm not 'real' fan because I don't own a Black Shirt well not since I threw away my Nazi ones!
