When You're Smiling - 30 second preview

I'll be pleasantly suprised if even 5% of the ground start singing this, most people will hear it, go 'heh' and then sit back down.

To be honest I think it's good being tarted up as you've put it, Manchester Citys "Blue Moon" & Westhams " I'm forever blowing bubbles" sound decent enough to me being played on the terraces this way.... Seems to get the fans going :dunno:

Waits for a comment along the lines of "Why copy other clubs, lets be unique?"

Those are much easier songs to sing IMO.

Haha none of you fuckers have even heard it all the way through yet and you're moaning. Jesus. Someone has tried to get the fans going and the club has got involved, can't you appreciate that? I think with persistent plays (we're talking maybe years) this will pick up. How do you actually think these things happen?

It's unnecessary though. Whatever some people may think, the atmosphere has been decent at times without it being spoon-fed to us like this. And also.....30 seconds is plenty long enough for people to gauge whether they will like it or not, just like any other song.

By the way, I'm not against the intentions behind getting the players together on an activity and to bond further e.t.c. That's all great and can only help, but why can't the club just leave things be when it comes to trying to manufacture a "matchday experience".

Bang on, people moan about the atmosphere then when the club tries to actively help it people moan again. Give it a chance, let's see what happens.

Because if they didn't do anything people like me would complain.

Notice how the O.S is spot on again! its got Nigel Pearsons name and manager coming up when they are speaking to Brown lol

... and when they're interviewing Jersey Budd too.

Guess we can't sing "There's only one Nigel Pearson" any more. There's fooking loads of them.

Credit to Budd for talking about himself like a Man U fan for only turning up at the end of the season. The lad seems to have a decent sense of proportion about the whole thing. And if he's right, and they play this instead of Status fooking Quo in the event of us making Wembley then it'll get the thumbs up from me. Anything is better than 'Rocking all over the world'.

I like Status Quo.

You're just an old stick in the mud, if you don't like change I presume you're voting Labour.

Sounds crap like that imo. When a fair few get it going in the ground its a very good song, but adding that music to it and changing it around a bit just sounds tacky. It's a terrace song, why does it have to be tarted up. Fair enough it's good for team bonding and everything, that's a great side to it, but that's as far as it should go.

Have you actually ever heard the original versions of the song??

At the end of the day, even if this doesn't take off, it's been made aware of by the club. More people will listen to it, more people will take an interest in in.

Those in the crowd that think they know the words might actually get to hear the proper words and realise the the line isn't "something something be happy again!" and might, just might, get the crowd singing a song that has been associated with our club for many years

I think if you play something enough it will take off, subconsciously people will start remembering it. Then after a big win people will sing anything, i remember after the Howard goal against Leeds I actually joined in with Chelsea Dagger :S

I definitely don't have a problem with a new version of the track, the way we sing it currently sounds dreadful.

I bloody love Rockin' All Over the World. Every time I hear the intro I instantly think of previous Wembley trips, cup semi finals, and so many happy times.

Good song too.

I thought it looked really good on Soccer Am. Would like us to have our own anthem. The way we sing it atm 100wpm is ridiculous. I'm a STH and still dont know the words between when your smiling and when your laughing. Also I think this shows the quality team spirit we have at the moment. It would be great to see 20k singing it slowly and loudly

Original lyrics

When you're smilin'

When you're smilin'

The whole world smiles with you.

And when you're laughin'

When you're laughin'

The sun comes shinin' through.

When you're cryin',

You bring on the rain,

So, stop your sighin',

Won't you be happy again!

When you're smiling,

Keep on smilin'

And the whole world smiles with you.

Cheers  Im not sure if its just me but its sung so fast that no-one seems to sing the bits between the chorus or just mumbles

No it's not you it gets faster every year.

It sounded alright on SoccerAM, but they referred to it as a song to celebrate achieving a play-off place, which makes us look a bit stupid really, in my opinion.

Not really considering where we were last season.

I think it's pretty good. The way it is sung now is in no way at all rousing for the team or the fans it just sounds like a load of grunts and also really hard to get into ... and when you do it's over with some random wiggling of hands. The few fans that do sing the song completely destroy a beautiful song. This version at least attempts to make a proper sing along. Fair play to jersey budd for trying. LCFC should play this song just before the PHG imho.

Sounded pretty decent at the Walkers earlier.
