Exclusive: Leeds and Leicester chase Palace defender

Saturday, 08 May 2010

By Richard Cawley

QPR boss Neil Warnock is set to face fierce competition for Clint Hill -with four other clubs tracking the Crystal Palace defender.

The 31-year-old sees his current deal expire at the end of June and his agent Mickey Walsh has admitted it is "very unlikely" the defender will still be at Selhurst Park next season.

And he claims that Leicester and Blackpool -both in the Championship play-offs -and League One promotionchasers Leeds and Huddersfield are also tracking the no-nonsense Liverpudlian. Walsh said: "It does not take a genius to work out the link to QPR and it would stack up on a professional basis for Clint because he played well for Neil.

"I'll be speaking to Clint this week to try and get the ball rolling. Leicester are interested and Blackpool have been monitoring him all season -they tried to take him on loan at one stage."

Can't see it myself, unless the club aren't expecting Tunchev to get better.

No nonsense defender?

Wayne Brown MKII in other words then.

very similar to Brown ie no nonsense left footed centre back, only slightly younger, may be true if we dont go up

Same one that got the red card in the 2000 WC final if I remember rightly?

Haha I thought you meant the World Cup at first

i doubt np is looking at transers until he knows our divisional status.

Well, he will be. He'll have a target list for the Premiership and a target list for the Championship.

The Mockery reported the other day that he already has two lists. An "if we go up" list and a "if we fall tragically at the final hurdle" list. I can't see a Crystal Palace defender getting anywhere near the first list.
