I noticed the women first as my eyes went right to left. But this is a trick because the natual instinct when looking at a picture is to view left to right which draws you into the picture. Just something I learned at a photography class. Am I wrong? Look at any painting and note how you are drawn into a picture.

I like the fact that one suspender has given up.

apparently they're braces.

I've just been told so by my parents who got a completely different mental image when I said I met an old family friend at a party at uni and he'd turned up wearing a bow-tie and suspenders.

Suspenders are apparently leg based tight holder things which those things are braces.

I couldn't remember the difference, it's been a long time since I've encountered a pair or actually held a conversation about them.

You're right - in this country, those things that men wear over their shoulders instead of a belt are called braces, but in the US, they call them suspenders. We don't, because suspenders here are an item of women's underwear, as in "stockings and suspenders".

It's a bit like how the Aussies use the word thongs to describe what we call flip-flops.

It's my occasiona brain lapse to my stint in Americana. Lack of sleep, drink, and a some more drink, left me in a 50/50 quandary to which mental dictionary I picked up. Sadly I failed to pick up my Websters. How embarrassing. :blush:
