lou Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 If this is accurate about Brown, I don't think he should play again. You can't have a that kind of thing in the squad. Its ok to have a go at someones Nationality though? Whats the difference? (Im talking about your signature picture? Do you not think its the same as your "frog" reference?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 If he voted BNP, then nor problem at all, as that is his democratic right. However, if he tries to wind up colleagues about it, than that is a different thing altogether. I do not know the facts, so cannot comment beyond that.
flanimal Posted 14 May 2010 Author Posted 14 May 2010 Its ok to have a go at someones Nationality though? Whats the difference? (Im talking about your signature picture? Do you not think its the same as your "frog" reference? No, since I'm referencing the frog thing in jest. I'm not part of a political party that wants to de-port every French person just for being French.
sw_fox Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Surely whoever people vote for is their decision, and people should respect it. Even if it is for BNP I dont see how this could be true, why would Brown tell people he voted BNP, when he has blackteam mates. Because BNP supporters, generally, don't actually believe their views are racist. I know a BNP candidate who goes around calling black people niggers and believes that anyone who is not white can not be English/British, yet still claims he and his party are not racist. However the vast majority of the population, especially those on the end of this sort of hatred (ethnic minorities, blacks, asians etc), see these views for what they are (racist).
Hitesh Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Sky Sports News has just reported this: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6154475,00.html Foxes rocked by players row Play-off preparations disrupted by row Skysports.com understands Leicester's play-off preparations were rocked by a row involving several members of the squad. A heated row is believed to have occured last Friday just 48 hours before the first leg of the play-off defeat to Cardiff. The argument was sparked over an inappropriate comment made by one of the Foxes players to his team-mates. It is believed Foxes boss Nigel Pearson was made aware of the row and he held a meeting to discuss the incident with those involved on the Saturday before the Cardiff game. Leicester went on to lose the first leg 1-0 on Sunday before going out on Wednesday on penalties after a dramatic second leg in Cardiff. Leicester have so far refused to comment on the rumours and it remains to be seen if they will take any action against the players involved in the incident.

BNP is a party build on racism. You can say, "people vote for whoever they like", but their views are watered down Nazism.

Guest Bilo Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 I find it difficult to believe that Brown voted BNP and was vocal about it. Without wanting to get into a political debate on the wrong forum, the BNP thrives on ignorance, the fear of the unknown. As a result, a lot of BNP voters will be the kind of people who have never known a black person, shared a drink with a black person or just generally broken bread with anyone not white. They will have got their views on ethnic minorities from the Sun, the racist tool down the pub who once had a fallout with Asian neighbours etc. Why would a man who has had 15 years in the game working and playing alongside black team-mates who have surely become his friends want to vote BNP? Knowing a person from an ethnic minority will make you far less likely to dehumanise all ethnic minorities, let alone spending 15 years of your professional life counting them as colleagues and mates. If it is true, then I wouldn't blame Pearson for shifting him. Having a racist in the team would damage team spirit in a major way among not only the black players, but also among the white players who would argue forever more about his right to be a racist. With team spirit as such a major hallmark of our club, that would be ruinous. I reiterate though, I find it difficult to believe.
howsyourfather Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 it is true, obviously i can't say where i heard it for legal reasons. I think it could have something to do with dyer's abysmal performance on wednesday night too, he was so angry that he lost about 10 yards in pace.

I'm sure tens of thousands of people that vote for the BNP have jobs where they have to work alongside people from different races and cultures. If you look at the places where the BNP gets the most votes or had the most members when the list got leaked, it's generally inner-city areas where there are a lot of ethnic minorities. A decent proportion must have jobs where they have to interact with them eveyday.
flanimal Posted 14 May 2010 Author Posted 14 May 2010 A girl I went to Uni with came out as BNP, and she listened to Hip Hop, had a black friend and several Asian friends on the course. People who are BNP are not always hermits. Plenty of football supporters are racist, and they will have had plenty of great black footballers play for them. The BNP makes no sense, so you can't offer any to someone's view to support them. I will with hold any judgement about Brown until I know one way or another. But in principle, he would have to go if he is what is being claimed.
C-man Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 Wayne must have found out that we're looking at Oguchi Onyewu and thought voting BNP was the best way of retaining his starting spot. Why he'd tell everyone I have no idea.

Dames Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 I guess its true then. The stupidity and the arrogance of the man is beyond belief.
lcfc_jme Posted 14 May 2010 Posted 14 May 2010 If WB was retarded enough to air racial views in the camp at any time, he deserves to be thrown out with immediate effect. If he did such a moronic, braindead thing 2 days before one of our most important recent games, then he's more of a **** than I thought Yann was immediately after that penalty. We will see in due course obviously but the reported stories are not looking good for Wayne...

As you say, a lot of voters come from inner city areas where there are a lot of ethnic minorities. This often means that they will be very deprived areas and those that vote BNP will have stored up a lot of resentment towards immigrant communities regarding council houses, the classic 'coming over here and stealing our jobs' line and jealousy of those more successful than they are. Can't imagine any of these being problems for Brown to be honest. There isn't a lot of logic in BNP voting though, so it can't be ruled out.

If he has said those things, he's an utterly moronic wand who needs shipping out, especially with the timing.
