FoxyPV Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Will add my 2 cents if anyone cares. I think some people are sort of saying that Dyer, Powell and Vaughan should have risen above it, but I don't think they should. Voting BNP is a democratic choice, and he shouldn't be slated for casting his vote (even if for a nothing party). However the real issue is the values that the BNP hold are undeniably racist and if Wayne Brown felt that he shared some of those beliefs, e.g. in immigrant repatriation, a return to institutional racism, I can wholeheartedly see why they should have had an issue. Chris Powell is of the age where he experienced widespread racism in football when he first started out and he has first hand knowledge of the harm it can do to the game. Think about it in a workplace situation, where if you started mouthing off racist comments, expect to be sacked. I cannot understand why Wayne Brown would choose to air these views in a club that has been involved intricately in many football anti-racism campaigns, and him with the role of vice captain, how would you feel as a black person being led (or managed) by a person who holds these oppressive views This.

Hard situation to deal with as a manager though, how do you get rid without being sued? Shame really 'cos he was an absolute warrior for us this season but I don't want a racist playing for our club. Alex Bruce please.
Fosse Boy Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 If WB was retarded enough to air racial views in the camp at any time, he deserves to be thrown out with immediate effect. If he did such a moronic, braindead thing 2 days before one of our most important recent games, then he's more of a **** than I thought Yann was immediately after that penalty. We will see in due course obviously but the reported stories are not looking good for Wayne... Agree. i voted BNP you going to kick me off these boards???? Yeah, fuck off. I don't think there's any way the club could sack Brown just for voting for a particular political party. Beyond that, we don't know if he said anything else, either in general or aimed at any particular person. If he's gone on to specifically abuse any member of the squad/staff, he deserves everything coming to him. If he hasn't, Pearson, Hoos etc, have to make a call on his role in the squad based on the impact of the incident on morale, and the public image of the club. Now the story's been leaked, the club have to deal with the aftermath in public. This shouldn't be an 'internal matter'; City have embraced 'Kick Racism Out Of Football' for years now - it's a massively important issue for all clubs and society generally. If Brown's done no more than admit which way he cast his vote, then fine. Unfortunate, but no crime there. Regardless, I'd like to see Brown personally, not the club, make a statement in support of 'KROOF', preferably to camera, in an attempt to clear this up. It's leaving a stink around an otherwise fine season.

We already know what his political views are and it's unlikely they've changed in the past few days.
Tommeh Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Sad this. I adore big Wayne but this is a silly thing to do at a simply ridiculous time. Can't see him playing for us again really. My ideal scenario would be bring Kerrea Gilbert back and shift Morrison inside.

It's difficult to judge as we don't know exactly what was said. You're right that it may be too late for him anyway - mud sticks. He's either a far right fascist, or unbelievably stupid. Or both. Regardless of what happens to him, the Club need to deal with it decisively and in public. Which they will, I'm sure.
Yojoe36 Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 What??? So what if brown voted bnp, freedom of speech. I voted tory, oooo am I gonna get sacked from work. What a joke. FYI I don't like the bnp

LCFC-ARAB Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 If he is a massive racist then i could never cheer for him again in a Leicester top I doubt we will ever find out what he really said though
flanimal Posted 15 May 2010 Author Posted 15 May 2010 If he is a massive racist then i could never cheer for him again in a Leicester top I doubt we will ever find out what he really said though The BNP story looks like it could be true. Bloody hell. I was convinced it was going to be garbage! He has to go. If I was black, I wouldn't want to play in a team with someone like that, I'd lose all respect for him. He's shown massive disrespect to his team mates, and supporters. I can't spport him anymore.
lavrentis Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 What an idiot. I don't care who he's voted but he's the idiot for telling his teammates.
Matt Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 It's been reported on in The Sun today...so it can't be true, right?
Mee Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 I agree, when i first read this i thought it may of been a sort of chinese whisper thing which had been messed up. But the more i read the more it sounds more true. I hate racist people, there is no need for it. I do agree that everyone has a freedom of speech to who they vote for, but it would not just be that. He would of had to say something offensive for people to react to it. If all this is true then i think he will never play for us again. Not great publicity for City also <_<
Shane Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Stick Big Danny N'guessan and WB in the boxing ring to settle this heated debate. Good luck Danny

It's idiotic, he shouldn't have done it, and if he has made any racist remarks, then I can't see him being here much longer. Sad, as like others have said, he's been quite heroic at the back this year.

Koke Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Shame it has come to this. I've adored the guy at his time here, he's a warrior of a defender. An absolute beast who puts his head and body on the line and dies for the cause. He should have kept his political views and affiliations to himself - I doubt this broken relationship between Brown and Vaughan/Dyer/Powell can be fixed again, and even if it does, the team spirit will not be the same as it was before. One of the things that has epitomises us as a club in the last 2 years is togetherness and high team spirit. I doubt we'll ever see Brown in a Leicester shirt again.
CosbehFox Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Everyone's getting on Kermo's back, this numbnut destroyed team spirit pre-match with a sentence. He needs to shipped out as soon as possible because the trust will never be there if it's left to fester.
Super_horns Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Unfortunate statement to make in public (ofcourse he's allowed to vote for whoever) but such is the nature of somebody in the public they have to be so careful about what to admit/say. He certainly isn't the first to be caught out and those in higher profile positions have comitted a faux paux in the press! Just ask his name sake Gordan... Shame its overshadowed what has been a great season for you guys.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Whether right or wrong he can vote for who he want. But he's stupid for saying it publicly! Although it would be different if he had said i voted conservative because people backing Labour would not have taken offence. I can imagine Brown to be a hooligan if he weren't a footballer.

artursteppe Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 I fear Tunchev will never play for us again. He's been out for a season and a half with a recurring injury. That's a huge amount of time to be out of the game. I really hope that's not the case and we see him back at his best in a Leicester shirt. It would also be a complete travesty for the guy and this club as he showed so much class. I saw Tunchev in the Shires about three weeks ago, shook his hand and had a chat. He was waiting for his family. I told him I was at Crystal Palace when he first injured his knee, and said what a nightmare it must have been for him to injure his knee again when he was about to return. He said he'd had three seperate injuries to his knee, not just two. Obviously I asked if he would be available for the start of next season, he said, himself, to me, not second hand through a friend of a friend, that he would be fit for pre-season training. I cannot think that aleksander would have said that to me if it wasn't true. Ain't it great to get some good news. Tunchev and Hobbs together, marvellous!
