lovelcfc Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 sorry if theard done but where do you think we need to strenthen to make us stronger
AyewJoking Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 20 goal a season man central midfielder to provide competition/cover for king, wellens
Fox92 Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 If the funds were avaliable, I'd probably try and go for; A centre forward A left back A right back Not sure about another central midfielder. King scored a load last season from midfield which was great, but would anyone go for someone that could score more? Obviousley, we'll not sign these players but they are a good example of goalscoring midfielders; Peter Whittingham and Charlie Adam.
doughnut Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 My first post on here so go easy on me!!!!!! Definitely a centre mid, id go for Darren Ambrose (rumoured 750k to qpr) bargain buy at that price, scored plenty of goals last season and created a fair few with quality set pieces that are second to none. Another centre forward, if millwall dont come up this weekend then got to look at Steve Morison, pace, strength and scores goals. If Wayne Brown goes which looks the case then another centre back and cover at left back. Still not convinced about our wide players so maybe look at the loan market for a dazzling winger CMON MILAN YOU KNOW THIS MAKES SENSE!!!
JimmyB Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Right, from front to back. Fryatt is our 20 goal man (fitness permitting). I Think Kermorgant and Howard could both do a decent job up there with him. Alternatives are N'Guessan and Gallagher. I reckon we need another striker to compete with Matty, personally I think Gallagher could be that man, but Pearson seems to like him on the wing. DJ would be perfect, but we all no thats not gonna happen, therefore, new blood needed. Dyer, N'Guessan and Gallagher have all shown that they can be effective in the wide positions but are all also highly inconsistent. I had high hopes of Nicky Adams prior to this season and was frustrated by the lack of opportunities he was given (but hey, Pearson knows him better than me!) but to be honest he was less than impressive in his few runouts late on. NP somehow needs to get the best out of these players more often. I see no reason for any fresh faces. We have 2 very good centre midfielders in Wellens and King, but no backup / competition for them whatsoever. Oakley is seemingly on his way out, Spearing has gone back to the scousers and clemence has finally retired. Whether it be loans or permanent moves we are in desperate need of one or two players to keep the big two on their toes. Robbie Neilson puts in the effort but is one of the worst footballers I have seen in a City shirt and should get nowhere near the first team next term. Morrison is improving all the time, both at right back and in the centre. This leaves Nobby as the only alternative at full back, he does a decent job, but I wouldn't want to see him playing too many games there. Hobbs is my hero, absolutely love this guy, has to be the first name on the teamsheet. Brown is unlikely to play for the club again and Tunchev may struggle to regain his fitness, if he does it would surprise me if he was able to give the same level of performance, consistently, after such a long lay off. If Bruce doesn't join permanently Morrison will play more than handful of games in the centre. Probably looking at a new right back or centre back, if not both to have ample cover. McGivern's gone (thank god) and the legend that is Chris Powell is another to retire. As much as we would all love to see Bruno play every minute next season, it's not gonna happen. I'd be happy if we got 30 games out of him, so a left back to cover in his absence is an absolute must.. Goalkeepers are adequate, nothing special, but good enough at this level. So... From all that ... we should be looking for: Right / Centre back (probably both) Left back Centre Mid Striker
okie fox Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Our biggest need is a big centre forward like Bothroyd, someone to win flick-ons, hold the ball up, score 10-15 goals a season, set Fryatt up. Steve Howard made a difference at the end of the season, but is reaching the end of his career.
Ozwin Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 I daren't think about it to be honest, we relied loads on the loan market and now they've all gone back we've got a tiny squad. We hardly had a big squad with all the loan players so yeah, should be busy this summer, I just hope Pearson's around to sort it out, there's quite a lot of work to do.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 A 3rd keeper - Though that probably isnt high pritority, or we may have a youth one somewhere Another LB Another CB Another RB Another CM Another Striker Though they can all be considered back up rather than to go straight in the team.

Pretty much agree with that, though i think logan proved himself an able deputy as a keeper. I personally think we need 2 strikers as we have lost 2 though i guess vaughan was in as back up for fryatt.
DanTheFox07 Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 Rb, Lb and a quality striker then if we have any spare cash left after that another winger.
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 LB RB LW RW ST We need to spend 6 million on players. But we know this won't happen.
Guest Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 We need to spend 6 million on players. But we know this won't happen. where exactly have you plucked that figure from?
lanxfox Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 We need: LB RB LW CM Quality Strikers Definitely LB, Winger(s) and Striker(s), I reckon about 6-7 players. LB - Cover for Bruno when he's out, we had problems when he was out with that shit Mcgivern. Wingers - Dyer isn't consistent enough, I think Gally is capable enough although he had a poor game against Reading at Home. Striker - We need a striker who can hold the ball up and have the ability to score 20+ a season, that rules Howard out. Just a new attack really, i think our defence is strong enough when we play our best defence.
Bugg Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 We need a striker who can hold the ball up and have the ability to score 20+ a season, that rules Howard out. Every team wants a player like that, players like that don't come cheap.
lanxfox Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Every team wants a player like that, players like that don't come cheap. James Vaughan? He's strong in the air, fast, good shot if we can sign him permanently for the £1mil that people are saying he is going for, we're on to a winner aren't we?
Xander Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 There is a significant rebuild required, we have a strong spine in Weale, Hobbs, Morrison, Wellens, and King. After that it falls apart, for me the jury is still out on Fryatt at this level, but with some better support he may kick on and get those 20 goals, and Bruno is a season older and he can't get much slower surely? The rest we currently have on our books are just not up to it and if we are to progress as a team this season we need to address this in the close season.

He was our top scorer and he missed the best part of 3 months, I agree with Bruno he has probably got 2 years left in him at a push so a long term replacement would be welcome in the next two seasons. We need to invest money into the right back position and another striker. The midfield is pretty good but another CM would do nicely due to Oakley losing his ability to run.
Xander Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 You have got to be kidding surely? He was our top scorer and he missed the best part of 3 months No I am not kidding, he has yet to prove himself at this level, League One different class, but he was not the superstar many on the Kop make out. And before you start I am not saying he is rubbish either, I am merely saying that I don't believe he is the wonder player many make out. He still has a lot to improve on, and the addition of someone to compliment him will take the burden off of him.
