All free transfers except for Nathan Dyer (£400k)

i for one carnt wait to have him as manager... with someone who has played at top clubs in europe i feel he will have alot to offer the youngsters and the whole team. i feel if we get investment or taken over by some richy riches... leicester could do a man city.... remember that... went down to league 2 as it was then had some daft seasons and look at them now....

Few duds there, but certainly not a terrible bunch of signings. The only poor ones seem to be strikers.

Dyer and Dobbie were both signed by Martinez prior to his departure. Beattie cost £500,000 and Cotterill was £600,000.

Apart from that you're bang on. ;)

Looking at those list of signings they aren't too bad given the budget he had available (i believe the Swansea chairman was unwilling to fork out for his primary targets), afterall they did help Swansea to their highest league position in 20 years you can only work with what you got. We don't have no money ourselves but maybe there is some truth in a possible investment otherwise how can we afford Sousa, would he had come if he was told there was no money to spend?

sousa will have money to spend..and the flair of jose mourinho to spend the millions he will get in the right direction....LEICESTER CITY ARE ON THE UP !!!!!!

Does everyone feel the excitement levels rising?

As bad as MM is with his hiring and firing tactics, this could work out brilliantly.

The guy was being compared with José Mourinho earlier, is that really a fair comparison to make?

If he gets results and gets us playing attractive football then great. Pass and move. Pace people. PACE.

Pace gets you out of this league we're in.

Up the ante and get at the opposition with pace. Cut the long ball crap and playing overly cautious, predictable football and go for it.

He should get Nathan Dyer in to confuse the hell out of the opposition, a Dyer on each wing :giggle:

Oh dear.

Seems like people are expecting us to become Brazil 1970 overnight.

Alot, pretty much all the Swansea fans, have said last season, while successful, was among one of the dullest they've ever witnessed. I like the idea of Sousa, think he's a solid manager, and feel that he will do a decent job, but I'm not expecting Total Football as soon as he gets here, by any means.

If anything, his tactics sound more defensive than anything else.

Pleased with the appointment, just reckon people are associating Sousa being Portuguese / Stylish, with a brand of football he's not actually produced. Could be in for a shock.

A rather bitter sounding post there to be honest, laden with opinions rather than solid fact.

The fact is that Swansea improved their league position after Martinez left the club and took Gomez and Scotland with him, not to mention much of the backroom staff. Sousa has to take part of the credit for this in my view. They may have been short on goals but with such limited options up front, it seems unfair to point the finger wholly at Sousa. We have a defence that is equally strong and with Tunchev returning, comfortable on the ball. The same can be said about the midfield with the excellent Andy King ready to grow and learn from a midfielder who won two Champions League medals and Richie Wellens can shine as he did for Doncaster in a side playing attractive football. Gallagher and Fryatt will benefit from this new culture as well, as anyone who has seen the two players perform when we're playing the ball into feet will testify.

All in all, I'd expect us to be tight at the back as Swansea were under Sousa but adding the goals that cost the Welsh side so dearly in their promotion battle due to our better options going forward. I'm optimistic about this appointment and think it's pretty much the best outcome we could have had. The links with Dowie and Rodgers frankly didn't bear thinking about.

Hang on, you've just pooh-poohed a post for being laden with opinions rather than solid facts, but then followed it up with a post laden with opinions rather than solid facts in your attempt to prove him wrong!

This.

People seem to be getting ahead of themselves, i'm worried about people's expectations next season. I think it'll take a while for Sousa to get them playing as he wants, i'm definitely not expecting as much as last season.

Me neither. Not that I was under Pearson either. There isn't really anyone to fear this year, but it will be tough nonetheless.

Who's getting ahead of thmselves exactly? People are just optimistic about the future, I don't think anyone expects us to murder the league or anything.
