h1210 Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 This has to be the winning one! But you also forgot Lee Marshall and Junior Lewis!! Positive Discrimination FC
Sir Alex Ferguson Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 If you saw Keller play then you'd have seen Lennon play... how the hell is Summerbee in your side?? Nicky Summerbee is in my side because i had so much respect for him when he and Billy Mckinlay played for Leicester for free. Just because they love playing - many footballers lose sight of why they play the sport. They definately didn't.....So thats my reason, good enough? or any other problems?

Fox You Forest Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 The problem is with this thread is that by the time some players played for us they were past there best (Ferdinand, Colymoore, Keown, Gary Parker. for instance) but do you base your selection on their city form or their carear form ?? I included Ferdinand on his carear form. City form, because that's the question that was asked, Parker past his best?

Just one, you have two left backs in your side
poppowell Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 City form, because that's the question that was asked, Parker past his best? Did you not see him play for F-----t then ? when he was capped by England Oh and his several years at the Vile
evs_the_fox Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 Did you not see him play for F-----t then ? when he was capped by England Oh and his several years at the Vile *England B. Was still a class player for City though so every justification in him being in a best XI, especially if you're under 30.
leftsideoverhere Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 Wallington ian wilson - matt elliot - gerry taggart - pontus kaamarksteve guppy - muzzy izzet - garry parker - emile heskeygary lineker - alan smith bench: gary mills, alan young, neil lennon, paul cooper, john o'neil, jim melrose I'm late to the this thread, and was reading the first page and a half wondering where Mark Wallington and Garry Parker were in all these lists, but you, sir, have hit the nail firmly on the head. Job done. Great team. But I don't think you could put Alan Young and Jim Melrose on the bench together, there'd be a fight. Maybe drop Melrose for Steve Walsh?
Corky Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 I tell you, this was a tough one. Kaamark, Roberts, Parker, Taylor, Keller could all have made serious claims to be in my side. As C-man said, I think the likes of King and Hobbs could be in a few teams in the next years.

stripeyfox Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 How can you say Ferdinand is a shocker ??? probably one of the greatest strikers of modern times. The problem is with this thread is that by the time some players played for us they were past there best (Ferdinand, Colymoore, Keown, Gary Parker. for instance) but do you base your selection on their city form or their carear form ?? I included Ferdinand on his carear form. Likewise some of the players hit their peak after leaving City (Lineker, Shilton, Alan Smith, Alan clarke , Derek Dougan to name a few)!! By that logic - judging players by their careers either side of their spell at City - you'd have to drop someone like Mancini into the best XI surely?

I actually did consider him however I personally never seem him play for City , I mean you only had to blink & you would have missed it !!
stripeyfox Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 I actually did consider him however I personally never seem him play for City , I mean you only had to blink & you would have missed it !! Four games! Matt Jones got sent off early in Mancini's first match and his last (I think) was the FA Cup win at Villa Park (may be wrong) which was notable for a wonderful winning goal from Arnur Guunlagsson! Arnie! Arnie! Arnie!

Salieri Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 I'll make this easy. The team that slaughtered Sunderland 5-2 the week after winning the Worthington Cup could, if it had stayed together and had a couple of additions, have made a challenge for a Champions League spot. Absolutely irresistible team. What was the line up? Had a look for it the other day but couldn't find owt.
