Thracian Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 It was always my view that DJ Campbell was one of the very few players we had who was capable of holding his own in the Premiership. Interesting to see that he started with a late goal in Blackpool's win at Newcastle. This is not a lament. We were right to let him go cos he clearly didn't want to play for us. But how we wasted his abilitgy here whether he was popular or not. And how we need another striker with his pace and elusiveness.
Salieri Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 I thought we'd seen the back of DJ Campbell threads. <_<
MC Prussian Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 He's gone - let it go. Besides, there's no need to regurgitate what you've said a million times before, Tony.
sdb Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 didn't David Connolly score a cracker on his prem debut after leaving us?? DJ is not a Prem standard player. With the wind in his sails he'll do ok for a while but form is temporary and in 2 years time he will be back at this level. Not sour grapes, he's just not quite good enough for that level imo.

The stubbornness from some forum members is laughable.
Joe. Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Bloody typical. Everything he touches in Blackpool seems to turn to gold, it's ridiculous.
Thracian Posted 11 September 2010 Author Posted 11 September 2010 He's gone - let it go. Besides, there's no need to regurgitate what you've said a million times before, Tony. I just like to wind up hose who said he was shit and could see no further than Fryatt. And today at Coventry was a further reminder of what we've got and what we're missing if we ever want to make progress.

The stubbornness from some forum members is laughable. so David Connolly was prem quality? Jason Scotland was prem quality because he scored a premier league goal? Trevor Benjamin was prem quality because he scored a prem goal? lol :crylaugh: etc
Edmund Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 At the end of the day he scored a goal today on his prem debut and for some strange reason you're writing him off which I can only put down to bitterness. I'm going on facts yet you're going on sensationalist delusional comparisons with random players to feed you're anti campbell stance. Not sour grapes...... My arse
Fox You Forest Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 I'll be honest, this is all I've thought about since I got back.
Leicfox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 I wish DJ every luck in the world at Blackpool. No sour grapes from me, although it does dig in abit when you see his name pop up after he scores on soccer saturday when our own strikers could'nt score in a £10 brothel.
Brainy Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 keep on telling yourself that. Your saying he's not prem quality yet he's playing and scoring in the prem. Have a word. The stubbornness from some forum members is laughable. one game one goal. yep, he sure is premiership quality.
Corky Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Well done to him, being at Blackpool seems to bring the best out of him.
lcfcadam Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Surely by now we can all see that some players will flourish at one club but not another. There's no point calling him "shit", or indeed saying "we should have kept him": he'd've (does English grammar allow that?) never reached his potential with us for whatever strange psychological reason, so what's the problem with him moving on to a club where he can?

It's definitely got me thinking... You just don't see it in written print but it seems legit enough.

My arse i've used examples to back up my point, you've used smiley faces. well done. do your research if u want, look back through the countless DJ threads. I wasn't one of his haters, i was one of the few who mostly stayed out of it. You say he's prem quality because he's scored 1 goal. I say that reasoning is absurd. Time will tell on the man Birmingham let go as soon as they reached the prem (probably as they were worried he'd score too many goals there, or something...). My arse.

Smileys? I'm lost. Your examples were comparing him with David Connolly. Oh that's logical. I've not once stated that he's prem quality, I'm just saying you look like a retard claiming that he's not prem quality given that he scored on his debut in the prem. The end of the season would be a fair time to judge his season yet your spouting bollocks off about David Connoly and Trevor Benjamin. If I wanted to be pedantic I could name plenty of players who have stepped up from the championship into the prem but that would be irrelevant as you can't really compare the players in any sort of logical debate. Yet you're doing so, so go figure. As I said earlier, sour grapes mate, sour grapes
Webbo Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 tbh I don't care if he scores 20 goals this season for Blackpool, he was never going to score that many for us. Well rid of the w@nker.
Joe. Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 I could name plenty of players who have stepped up from the championship into the prem Really? I'd struggle to name ten right now off the top of my head instantly... Jagielka and Lescott are the two that spring out from first thought. And Adam Johnson of course.
sdb Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 you suggest he's prem quality because he's played and scored a goal in the prem i gave examples of where this feat can be misleading, to say the least. go and find where I slagged DJ off, use all my bitter words aimed at him, and put them up here. otherwise shut up telling me it's 'sour grapes'. it's seriously sad that you're spending a saturday night telling me how I feel about DJ Campbell! get a life son!
