Sooper Steve's shin Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 I hate these "what's the team going to be?" threads, but was kind of surprised (and kind of disappointed) that we don't have one for Saturdays game against the league leaders. I think we played well in midweek and most of the team is nailed on, so I'm thinking it will probably be the same starting XI. Ikeme (I'd go Weale, if fit, but not heard anything) Neilson (nailed on as Lamey wasn't even in the squad; I think ML is a better footballer but Neilson is looking a solid defensive choice this year) Hobbs Morrison (didn't do anything wrong, but Vitor was on the bench on Tuesday and must be close) Berner Wellens Oakley (same comment as for Morrison but with Abe instead of Vitor) Dyer King (expect him to be targetted big time by QPR) Waghorn Howard (I'd question whether he has two games a week in him, but I don't think Fryatt will start without even having a run-out in midweek) Subs: Logan, Vitor, Moreno, Abe, N'Guessan, Gallagher, Fryatt (pretty strong bench, especially considering we had a few teenagers on there for the openingg game of the season).
Jimmy Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 pretty much has to be the same team, the game was won by the time the subs were made and only Weale has an argument that he's clearly better then someone else who played
Callabinho Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Well we will need pace at the back! but we don't really have any! so the key will be to stop QPR's main threat without taking our eyes of the other dangers in their squad. Although Neilson has been playing well i still worry about him, Whittingham never got into the game on Tuesday but if Hogan is at his best Neilson will be in for a tough ride. We could try Flooding the midfield, i think the best way we could approach QPR would either, Pass, Pass and pass, get then frustrated so they commit more men forward and we catch them on the break or revert to the Ugly get stuck in boss them about Big challenges on Taraabt and Buszacky (if he starts) to soften them up and get Waggy and Fryatt to feed off Howard's flick ons! If we make silly mistakes we will end up like Ipswich, I'd in all honest set up to not loose the game, at the moment QPR look too dangerous to play dare with. So i would go with. Weale Morrison Vitor Hobbs Burner Abe Wellens King Waghorn Howard Dyer. (or Fryatt) If we are doing okay and they are getting frustrated then we could switch it around midway through the second half! And put Waggy up top and have Dyer and Gallagher playing in and around him!
Jimmy Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Morrison & Hobbs are no slouches & Neilson isn't as slow as people think either
Callabinho Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Morrison & Hobbs are no slouches & Neilson isn't as slow as people think either Guess so, i still worry at times but if Hobbs, morro and co start right then we should be ok! I pretty much guarantee that man marking Taraabt will effect their play, get Abe to follow him everywhere numerous QPR fans have said that he is the teams core! Get nice and tight on Hogan and Makie Isolate their striker and work the flanks! it will be tough but Im sure with the confidence of Tuesday we can get something out of the game! Would be nice for a clean sheet!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Same team as the other night, but hopefully Weale is fit enough to start indstead of Ikeme.

You go to all the trouble of stating how dangerous they and yet you want to switch the defence all around and bring in two players who hardly know the names of their team mates - strange logic indeed.
STUHILL Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Same team. They deserve to start. Obviously we don't see what goes on in training but I can't see any changes

Just a thought at the time, Vitor is highly rated so he must be good, i just still have my worries about Robbie, Yes he has started this season very well but i fear he will get found out, i think Morrison played well at right back last year! offers a tad more pace, still we will wait and see, as long as we get a result i don't care who plays tbf!!

He's got the perfect game Tuesday to mess around with players and play those that need a game.
Callabinho Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 He's got the perfect game Tuesday to mess around with players and play those that need a game. Point! yea id stick with it then, try and get a result and make a few changes for the League cup!
adam01 Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Either way leicester are gonna lose.... URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRs
Simo86 Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Either way leicester are gonna lose.... URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRs I bet you've been thinking that up for the past hour
RowlattsFox Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Almost guaranteed to be same team and you can't really argue against that, one thing I worry about though is the fact that Oakley isn't a natural defensive midfielder and I worry about Tarrabt picking the ball up in the hole running at the centre backs. Oakley doesn't deserve to be dropped though. Would like to see Waghorn up top with Gallagher on the wing in place of Howard but difficult to drop Howard after his performance on Tuesday, could use the 2-games a week excuse though.
MitchLCFC Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 ------------------------------Weale---------------------------- Neilson------Morrison-----------Hobbs---------berner -----------------Wellens-----------Oakley------------------- Dyer-------------------------King-----------------------Fryatt -----------------------------Howard---------------------------- Subs: Ikeme Vitor Moreno Abe Mousa Waghorn Gallagher
dandannieldanok Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Same outfield 10 as Tuesday, if Weale is fit I'd put him back in ahead of Ikeme.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Same team, no-one deserves to be dropped.
NGoloMode Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 ------------------------------Weale---------------------------- Neilson------Morrison-----------Hobbs---------berner -----------------Wellens-----------Oakley------------------- Dyer-------------------------King-----------------------Fryatt -----------------------------Howard---------------------------- Subs: Ikeme Vitor Moreno Abe Mousa Waghorn Gallagher Fryatt left midfield?
MitchLCFC Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Fryatt left midfield? I think he could play there just as well as waghorn and i think he deserves a chance in the team
Unabomber Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 I think he could play there just as well as waghorn and i think he deserves a chance in the team Based on what? His appalling display against cov?
MitchLCFC Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Based on what? His appalling display against cov? no based on how well hes been for the last 2 season i like and rate waghorn but think when both in form fryatt is the better player
lcfc81 Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 Ikeme (I'd go Weale, if fit, but not heard anything) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8997781.stm sounds like he might be getting back although slightly uncomital.
caz05 Posted 17 September 2010 Posted 17 September 2010 no based on how well hes been for the last 2 season i like and rate waghorn but think when both in form fryatt is the better player I agree with you about Fryatt, if hes not gonna get any game time how can he get back into form and prove what he is capable of
