The Doctor Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 I'm assuming you mean the 04/05 season. If so here are their end of months positions. August 17 September 8th October 3rd November 3rd December 2nd January 3rd hardly bottom halfway . In fact that year all the relegated sides were in the bottom 5 places come the end of September. 06/07, where they were sat bottom at the end of august and weren't much higher up by the end of September
Callabinho Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 if we learned how to put the ball in the net we would be within the top five, it needs to be ironed out and fast.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 To be fair, if we can't beat Portsmouth at least once, a team who are bottom with 2 points and no confidence, then we do have real, real problems. Not a case of must win, but I think we all thoroughly expect to win the next two games. And here we go again with all this 'well so and so were in such and such a place, and got promoted' well bully for them, but there are plenty of teams who have been down near the bottom, and pretty much stayed there all season. Why everyone needs to start cherry picking the teams that suddenly rose up the table I don't know.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 No need to panic just yet. Mid table was my prediction, and I think that is how the season will end.
jamesmilner Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 how many times have i read about teams doing rubbish in the league, then jump to the top of the league thinking lcfc will do this is doing my head in now. the majority of players dont like sousa , this rubs off , fact . we are( compared to last season)a team we dont recognise and fans still want me to be patient . no . QUESTION IS WHY ARE WE SO DIFFERENT ? .why does fryatt want to leave as well as other top players ? then you know why we arent playing well its not this so called new type of football sousa dreamt up neither , trust me. when its wrong in the camp , your team will never do well .simples .

CosbehFox Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 06/07, where they were sat bottom at the end of august and weren't much higher up by the end of September They never spent more than three games in the relegation zone.
ozleicester Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 We are playing quality football! and lets keep in mind who have we played so far.... Palace.........average side. Boro .......... Tipped as a preseason favourite for promotion. Reading..... tipped as a promotion contender Burnley..... Tipped as promotion contender Covscum... average side, but always a tricky game Cardiff........ Tipped as a promotion favourite Qpr............. Tipped as a promotion favourite We have played some of the best in the league, in most cases, we have outplayed them, just havent had the luck. Last 2 years we had very lucky years where we picked up a few points we shouldnt have, this year weve had the reverse, ahh football. I believe that PS has us playing a quality game and the results will come. The next four (league) games will be interesting, i only see Hull as a real threat, as NP knows us too well. Come the end of october... i see us around 14th and on the move (up)
The Doctor Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 They never spent more than three games in the relegation zone. so why after four games did the table read 24th Sunderland Played 4, Lost 4, Scored 4, Conceded 9, 0 Points. ?
CosbehFox Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 so why after four games did the table read 24th Sunderland Played 4, Lost 4, Scored 4, Conceded 9, 0 Points. ? Simple. You can actually lose a game and not be in the relegation zone esp after the first two games..
Guest ttfn Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Yeaaahh. Just look at Sunderland a few seasons back. Bottom halfway through the season, went up champions. This has happened once in the last 10 years plus. What reason is there to believe we will be any different to all the other sides who have struggled at this stage of the season? Sunderland signed a load of proven Championship players very fast (Connolly, Kavanagh etc), whereas we've signed a lot of players who will take time to settle. Plus, once Keane got there they built up some serious momentum. Sousa has sapped 2 years' worth of momentum from the club. We can't demand play-offs every year, obviously, but this year was a great opportunity, and it's fast disappearing. The topic is a bit doom and gloom, but if things haven't turned around by the end of October (and they show few signs of doing so), at best we've wasted the season, at worst we'll go down.
cambridgefox Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Dont think the next two games are the be all and end all,but it would kickstart our season for sure,if we win on friday,i hope we can take a lot to Norwich to really get behind the team to make it 2 wins in a row.if we mannage that ,i can see us going on a decent run.At this stage of the season 4 wins on the bounce would put us right up in the thick of it.Thats why it is so important to get behind the lads 100% over the next month.
EnglishOxide Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Sousa has sapped 2 years' worth of momentum from the club. Bollocks. New owners and Pearson leaving has achieved that. Sousa is the scapegoat.
rabbid Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 If we don't get out of the bottom five in the next two games we stand a nearly 2 in 3 chance of going down! With only 39 games and 117 points left to play for it's definitely a make or break time for the team.

ozleicester Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 How many teams are going up this year? 3....I assume Which is why my list suggests a number of teams who were tipped as "contenders" as well as those considered by the bookies to be the "favourites" to go up.
Pegosteve Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Sousa said give him two tears, I feel we over achieved last year, spurred on by the momentum of being labelled champions of what in effect is the '3rd' division. Mid table this year then promotion push next year would be acceptable for us in the present state Agreed
