the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 What amazing supporter cohesion we have in this country. A club about to lose 100+ years of history, many fans about to lose a huge part of their lives and all we care about is chalking off a 6-1 defeat. Utter bollocks. who cares about it???

If ever a 'This' is justifiable, it's for this post. People must have short memories as Leicester fans as well, rewind 8 years and we were days away from being in the same position as Pompey are now. Yes some of their fans were loving it at the time, but I for one am not going down to that level. There but for the grace of god and all that.

broughtonblue Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Aren't the cubs sponsors 'jobsite'? A little bit ironic for the players and staff!
Tommeh Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 who cares about it??? Read the fooking thread or even this one So Depressing. And yes I am fully aware some of their lot wanted us to go under 8 years back, it's hardly the point in my opinion.
1964FOX Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 I have passed the support of The Fosse Boys to a leading Portsmouth fan, I am sure all of us in the group believe this is exactly what we hate about modern football.
Pegosteve Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 A sad day for football and the football family if this happens. Just shows how much money rules in the football world..............hope our Thai owners are for life and not just for Christmas!
cc_star Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Probably won't happen it's just twats with millions negotiating prices downward so they will make even more margin at some point in the future, although as a side note the ex-owner owns the land in a different holding company to the one the club is in facing liquidation, so you never know
ACF Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Cousin's a Pompey fan, feel sorry for him, no club should actually go out of business. No Al Calcio Moderno.
Asha Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 a) It's their own fault. b) Their fans were queuing up to take the piss when we were in the shit - why should I feel some deep emotional connection to any Portsmouth fans in their 'time of need'? c) A lot of people say football authorities should "do something about it - but they'll probably need a wake up call before they do", well let this be their wake up call. Rather see Portsmouth snuff it than a club which has actually made some form of attempt to only spend within their means. Plus, they'll only reform in the Zamaretto or something anyway and apparently non-league is absolutely amazing to be in, so they'll be fine.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Lads let's stop talking about points & goal difference and start thinking about football fans. People just like you & me are going through a really shit experience that, let's face it, could happen to any one of us. Its not a disaster, people aren't losing lives, so in the grand scheme of things its only football, but please let's show some sort of solidarity.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 got to feel for the pompey fans..... Also all them players gonna be without a club too. hope something pops up for them The players can afford it, what about the staff who can't?

Really hope this post is not aimed at me,my best mate is a pompey fan and asked me the question of what would happen to the points people got against them. You might also notice that 2 posts after that,i stated that i would not want this to happen, having a mate support THIS club,i feel for him, If the club ceases to exist as its a big part of his life!

It wasn't. Was a general point which I feel needed saying after reading the 2 threads.
Corky Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 I don't want to see them go bust, they, like most clubs, have thousands of decent fans who care and were probably sympathetic to our plight.
Jackirius Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 IF it happens we gain 3 points and the teams that beat them would lose 3 points, as if the game never happened!!! How does this work?
cambridgefox Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 It wasn't. Was a general point which I feel needed saying after reading the 2 threads. Thats good
Finnegan Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 All jokes aside, can Mandaric not actually go in and save them? Did he not actually express some genuine desire to buy them out again?

The fans are taking the brunt having contributed fvck all. b) "Their fans" meaning... all? the majority? a few? 2? Our fans still MON as the worlds greatest manager, doesn't account for an entire fanbase does it? I'm fairly confident it was a few of their guys saying this as opposed to a full scale riot through the streeets of Portsmouth with fans chanting "Kick the foxes out" as some make out. c) Pompey are not big enough to generate this interest nd "wake up call", we've seen it with Palace who were minutes away from meltdown yet all the press cared about was Capello's WC squad and today Rooney still dominates all the headlines and will in tomorrows papers.
Karljohn Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Ironic that Mr Rooney signs a 5 year multi million deal the same day as Portsmouth hit the buffers, football has gone mad, rollercoaster for their fans, cup final one minute, possible liquidation the next.
Corky Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 All jokes aside, can Mandaric not actually go in and save them? Did he not actually express some genuine desire to buy them out again? There were rumours of a return, and he seemed to relish the adulation from their fans at the 6-1 match, so it's not totally out of the question.
He's not bald Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Am so upset...can't believe this...hope Pompey come through it..my thoughts are with the supporters

Yes some of their fans were loving it at the time, but I for one am not going down to that level. There but for the grace of god and all that. Rewind eight years and their fans were being unbearable, fucking ignorant morons, and that's not the minority, either. Everyone knew that the way Portsmouth were spending in the Premier League the bubble would burst eventually, and, while I'm not celebrating their demise, far from it, I'm not going to deny I couldn't give a flying fuck about their club on the whole after the way they acted not too long ago. Pretty much any other club, I could sympathise with, I just find this very, very ironic now. Excuse me if that makes me the devil incarnate in your opinion, but my memory doesn't appear to be as short as yours.
Karljohn Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 There were rumours of a return, and he seemed to relish the adulation from their fans at the 6-1 match, so it's not totally out of the question. I would imagine he had due diligence done on Pompey or whatever the administrator would allow, found out the true level of the debt and gave it a wide berth. I read somewhere that they have 3 players taking 52k a week out of the club, one of them I guess is Utaka, and I reckon Kanu would be on top money.
Christoph Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Wonder if Sven could get a player or two, they've got some decent players
