whitlock Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Any new news on Tunchev? No news but just pointless infomation that helps nobody, but saw him yesterday chilling in nados.
Fox92 Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Jack Hobbs doesn't become a bad defender overnight. He has had some bad games like the rest of the side, but he's also been steady in some of them as well. You said that he hasn't got a older head at the side of him so isn't it a case of signing a player like that instead of selling one of the best centre backs in the division? The Waste List: Hobbs Morrison Neilson Burner Weale Fryatt Oakley Wellens Dyer Howard Abe Moreno Vitor Gallagher Including Hobbs, your wrong about a few of them. Berner is consistant and gives the left side (and maybe even Hobbs) a steady head. Abe has been playing out of position. Wellens is the best midfielder at the club. He is consistent when the side is poor (Burnley away for example). He tries passes that Oakley/King wouldn't. Does things that you don't see, the defensive side of the game. Gets stuck in, tidies up and his passing and awareness is second to none. Fryatt is the best goalscorer at the club and can't score if he gets no service or is on his own (like on Saturday). Dyer is frightening for defenders when he is on form and has just come back from injury.
Wig_Wam_Bam Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Hopefully his place in the side won't last much longer. He's another one of Pearson flops that needs to go. He's been fcuking garbage this season, Sven will bring someone in soon to replace him. With Hobbs playing every game we're not going to climb the table. The Waste List: Hobbs Morrison Neilson Burner Weale Fryatt Oakley Wellens Dyer Howard Abe Moreno Vitor Gallagher all a bunch of no hopers. rubbish the lot of them Spot On with - Hobbs Morrison Neilson Burner Weale Fryatt Oakley Moreno Vitor i said the same thing on saturday.
Roy Cropper Posted 25 October 2010 Author Posted 25 October 2010 WARNING: THIS THREAD MAY CONTAIN TROLLS.
Yokofoxes Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 I know this thread is full of jokers but I can't believe some people don't want to give Abe a chance. He is a player who has won the Asian Champions League, a game he scored in, broke the Japanese transfer fee when he signed for the Reds, played for them for 4 years as they challenged year in year out for the title with one of the best defensive records in the league, was constantly in the Japan starting XI until he came to England including playing every game in the World Cup where they conceded 2 goals. He just needs to be played in the right place, centre midfield. I saw him play numerous times in Japan and he was much better than I have ever seen Oakley, and quite often Wellnes, play for us.

With regards to Jack Hobbs, you have to question his commitment a bit to the club, as soon as we were struggling he wanted to jump ship. When he was younger he was highly rated at Liverpool and things perhaps haven't worked out quite as planned, this is his time to prove himself otherwise he will never fulfill his potential, get the impression he needs bringing down a peg or to and working hard to be more consistent. Think Sven should be able to do this we deff need a perm experienced CB who can guide him.

Wymsey Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Very conservative in my view. Why is Waghorn not on the list? Cuptied
Fox92 Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Oh and, Master Fox, you forgot Waghorn and the rest of the squad at your rate.
hairy Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Cuptied Being cup tied does not make him exempt from being on MF's waste list
shailen Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Have faith in Hobbs, its just a lack of confidence. A few wins and he'll be back to his best. He is one of the best CB in the league and will make it to the premiership. Lets hope its with us!

Fox92 Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 I knew no-one paid attention to what I wrote And me. Abe may need to adopt to the league first. Give him time, what I have read, he was a cracking player over in the J League. He has been played on the right, which isn't his natural position, is it? Communication may be a problem but lets see him in central midfield first.
CosbehFox Posted 25 October 2010 Posted 25 October 2010 Any new news on Tunchev? Back at our training ground this week, training. Spot On with - Hobbs Morrison Neilson Burner Weale Fryatt Oakley Moreno Vitor i said the same thing on saturday. Personally I thought it was a bit of irony but I find it amazing that after a quarter of a season, even less for some considering the games they've played are considered not good enough. They managed fine all of last season. If you compare the names mentioned there to three/five years ago when it was Andy Johnson and Jason Jarrett in midfield, I don't think I need sya anything. Realistically as well how would you suddenly offload nine players on contracts? I have to agree that record speaks for Abe should deff start getting a look in soon. Where's this come from? Hearsay, rumour? You've missed judged his character, the reason he left Liverpool was cause he felt isolated, going nowhere and very rarely was involved with the first team. Hobbs on the occasion I've heard him speak and met him...he appears far too level-headed to be a footballer. His problem is confidence, not that he's big-headed. More that he doesn't believe in himself enough. You watch the difference when he makes a half-decent tackle and how he plays for the next twenty minutes, he'll be confident and solid. Similarly, when he misses a header or misplaces a pass, his confidence is shattered. The lad's 21 and people expect the world of these young lads. Same applies to the likes of Morrison, Vitor and a couple of others. They are learning their trade at this level - that's pretty consistent with our squad. Oakley, Howard, Fryatt, Wellens (just), Logan who've have three years plus experience of this division.....how it's forgottten that this is the highest level Weale, Morrison, Dyer and Berner have regularly played at in English football. Abe needs a solid couple of months in and around the squad to adapt before we can dismiss him. Oakley's injured, so maybe his chance will come.
conradno1 Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 How long should Jack Hobbs be able to hold down his place in the side with the form he has shown this season? It appears that without a defensively focused manager such as Pearson or an experienced head along side him to tell him what to do such as Wayne Brown he simply isn't good enough. We need leadership and confidence from the back and Hobbs simply does not provide these qualities. i would have to disagree i think hes bin solid since sven came in bar the game in swansea wich was poor but it was a poor team performance and we cant drop evryone . evry1 has bad games it just happened that hobbs slipped several times on sat i think its his boots he needs to change not him
Edmund Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 Hobbs is still one of the first names on the team sheet for me. It's a shame his stint as captain seems to be over as I felt he had the potential to become a great captain.

Sorry, ladies and gents, wasn't meaning to say everyone was getting on his back, just surprised that some people are. He was a cracking player in the J-League and this is coming from a person who hated his guts as soon as he put on an Urawa Reds jersey.

singinpete Posted 26 October 2010 Posted 26 October 2010 He's obviously a good player, but how long can you leave it when he's costing us points. it seems most of his mistakes lead to a goal or a decent chance at the min. maybe the pressure of impressing new managers is too much for him.

I'm guessing that's the whole transfer requests bit at the end of august, something that was never actually confirmed to have happened, nor were any names confirmed. Didn't Hobbs say he wanted to stay here for a long time at the end of last season? Real lack of commitment.
