Naughton - 7 - Tried to make something happen.

Hobbs - 5 - Shaky. Missed Vitor.

Davies - 6 - Shaky also.

Cunningum - 7 - see Naughton

King - 4 - One of his games where he is invisible.

Wellens - 6 - Decent

Gally - 7 MOTM - Most creative, brill goal.

Abe - 6 - Still havn't seen him play well!! Seems to suck at home, play well away.

Vassell - 5 - Did nothing.

Waghorn - 5 - Started brightly but did nothing also.

Weale 5 - Did two things all night. Pick the ball out of the net. Fair enough didn't stand much chance with either, but whenever a team has a free-kick on target it seems to fly in.

Naughton 6 - Very limited tonight.

Cunningham 6 - Average performance.

Davies 7 - Decent enough.

Hobbs 4 - Awful. Confidence has took a massive hit and it showed tonight, couldn't do anything right.

Gallagher 6 - Decent free kick.

Abe 6 - Seemed a bit lost tonight, but still did ok.

Wellens 6 - Often wastes the ball with his short free kicks when there's a chance to get it in the box.

King 5 - Anonymous.

Vassell 5 - Worked hard but nothing else.

Waghorn 6 - Always works hard and put their back line under pressure. Well marshalled by Nosworthy, although he needs a strike partner.

Howard 7 - Won everything and rescued a point.

Dyer 6 - Looked dangerous, no end product. If you have pace he's the easiest person to defend, always onto his left.

Fryatt 5 - Blah.

I'd agree with pretty much all of this. Abe started brightly enough, but seemed to be affected by the way dirty Sheff U kept hacking him down, King got some nasty tackles too. Wellens played defenders into trouble far too often, and Hobbs had a mare.

Naughton 6 - Not much happened for him tonight

Davies 7 - One of our better players got stuck in

Cunningham 5 - Absolute shocking until Dyer came on

Gallagher 7 - Our 2nd best player looked good on the ball and scored a great free-kick

Wellens 6 - Started immensely well but then faded

King 5 - Did he even play in the first half?

Abe 6 - He looked good until he got cropped

Waghorn 3 - His confidence has been knocked he needs to play in a 4-4-2

Vassell 5 - Not the best not match fit though

Howard 7 - Knock downs were good and the hero of the night

Dyer 10 - If he didn't come on I would of gone sleep, excellent player

I know Hobbs was shit, but not shit enough for him to be forgotten!

First one maybe could have come out quicker but can't take any blame for it. As for the free kick - it was inch perfect into the top corner. No keeper would have stopped that. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and applaud a great strike.

Weale 5 (Had two serious shots all night and let em in).

Naughton 6 (Just average)

Davies 6.5 (Okay but not in any way outstanding).

Cunningham 5 (Exposed)

Gallagher 7 (Cleverly taken goal and a reasonable shift)

Wellens 6 (Flickered then faded)

King 5 (His early runs were ignored and he seemed to hide for the rest of the time and picking up a bit at the end, making a contibution to our equaliser.)

Abe 4 (Couple of keen tackles but was otherwise poor and his knock didn't help)

Waghorn 4 (Struggled up front on his own. Never a goal threat apart from one shot and never held up the ball)

Vassell 3 (Never in it)

Howard 7 (Brought a big improvement in our threat and despatched the penalty well enough to save us a point).

Dyer 7 (Brought us some hope with his pace and movement).

Fryatt 0 (Can't remember a thing he did)

Sven 5: Disappointing. We reacted badly to our own goal. After Sheffield's equaliser and our dismal play I expected some improvement after half-time but there was nothing apart from the substitutions. Ade's was too late but Howard and Dyer did make a difference and one which eventually enabled us to save the game.

Weale 6- Couldn't do much except pick the ball out of his net.

Naughton 6.5- Average.

Davies 6- Looked shaky and his control was often poor, but the performance of his partner Hobbs made him look better...

Hobbs 4- Poor! Nuff said.

Cunningham 6- Average, improved when Dyer came on.

Abe 5- Worked hard but was pretty much ineffective, picked up a knock and was poor onwards.

Wellens 5- Crowded out, put defense under pressure a few times with his passes, and wasted decent chances.

King 5- Hardly in the game, disappeared.

Gallagher 7- Good free-kick, creative, but inconsistent.

Waghorn 6- Worked hard, but struggled up top on his own- needs a partner!

Vassell 5- Not really in the game, didn't get the service and he's not match fit.

Howard 7- Won everything in the air, caused a lot of trouble and salvaged a point with an excellent penalty.

Dyer 7- Livened the game up for us, caused problems with his pace and looked quite dangerous. BUT no end product.

Fryatt 3- Made little or no impact, didn't look that bothered.

Weale 5 - Despite not having much of a chance with either of their goals, his kicking, and his communication with his team mates, is concerning me.

Naughton 7 - The kind of player we need to keep hold of if we are to progress from this league.

Davies 6 - Average game by his standards. Did what he had to do at the back but offered little else.

Hobbs 3 - A VERY off day for young Jack. Baffled as to where his confidence has gone.

Cunningham 6 - Still learning and improving.

Gallagher 7 - One of his better performances of late. Good to see him have a few attempts from set pieces that found the target.

Wellens 6 - Some good interceptions combined with poor vision and ball control. Frustrating.

King 5.5 - Played much deeper than the last few games which kept him out of the action.

Abe 4.5 - Having been clattered in the bollocks, faded out of the game (and tackles).

Waghorn 4.5 - Needs to feed off a strike partner. Ineffective without the support.

Vassell 4 - Not quite at the races for me. Will need more time.

Subs

Howard 6.5 - Arrived at the right time in order to save our blushes.

Dyer 7 - Immediate impact and constant threat. Needs to be on the pitch longer in future.

Fryatt 3 - What has happened?

Overall a poor performance by City despite controlling possession. Will need to find form again for Saturday if we are to take anything from the game.

Hobbs is no good in the left CB position and never has been.

What sort of professional footballer can't play "left" centre back rather than right?

I play centre back at a very low level, but which side I play doesn't make too much of a difference.

The difference between calling Hobbs a future England centre half (as most of us were doing last season) andy cn calling him shit surely can't be exclusively due to which side he is playing?

There's plenty of other excuses recycled on here for his poor performance, such as the old classic "needs to be partnered with someone with experience or pedigree", or "he's only a young lad", "never gets the chance to play in a more constant back four", and occasionally "worried about the quality of the 'keeper".

Will we ever know what's up with his severe lack of form? Probably not, but maybe a bit of time off and time to work harder in training in order to impress wouldn't go amiss.

Weale - 5. Distribution was terrible and was out of position for the free kick.

Naughton - 6. Tried to get forward but was innefective.

Davies - 5. Was obviously frustrated by the lack of movement and didnt look like he had much confidence in Hobbs.

Hobbs - 3. The worst i've ever seen him play.

Cunningham - 6. Same as Naughton.

Abe - 4. Superb up until he took a knock and should have gone off earlier as he obviously didnt shake it off.

Wellens - 6. Looked good in patches and worked hard. Once again though he dallies on the ball to much.

King - 4. Where does he go in this type of game? Needs to toughen up.

Gallagher - 5. Great free kick but wasted 2 others in the same position. Usual story of talented but not enough application.

Vassell - 4. Didnt get the ball enough to do anything with it.

Waghorn - 3. Got the ball a little more than Vassell but looked a little leggy and didnt do any of the things we know he can.

Subs

Howard - 6. Scored the penalty and offered more strength.

Dyer - 7. Even with such a brief appearance, man of the match for me. Looked dangerous every time he got the ball.

Fryatt - 0. I can't remember being more dissapointed with a player than I was with Fryatt. Looked like a fish out of water.

Weale - 5 Not a fan and having seen another lacklustre display.....new GK is needed

Naughton - 7 Worked hard and at times had no one to pass to down the line

Davies - 6 he needs his Vitor back, wins nearly every header, also against Cresswell

Hobbs - 3 Shocking, erractic and a liability at the back

Cunningham - 7. Tries to get forward a lot, thought he looked good for a 18 year old

Abe - 5 wasn't really in the game, look assured at times but needs more time

Wellens - 6 - keeps the midfield ticking over when Kingy goes AWOL, solid

King - 5 another AWOL display, needs to impose himself more on these sort of games

Gallagher - 6 - worked hard, fantastic goal and unlucky with another free kick but generally drifted in and out

Vassell - 6 struggled to get into the game, but was excellent at tackling back

Waghorn - 5 struggles when we pump the ball up to him, tries to do too much with the ball sometimes

Subs

Howard - 7 Great penalty, offered a lot more and worked hard

Dyer - 7 Dangerous and changed the game but needs to chase back when he loses the ball

Fryatt - 2 - Generous rating of 2 for a player who looks like he should be playing in the Sunday League with Levi Porter, abysmal. Must be loaned to a League One club for a month to get form

Weale 5 Once again I have to question his play. It was a great free kick but his postioning was wrong and he made a poor attempt to save it. He was beaten at "his" post after all. Suspect positioning and doesn't seem to communicate with his back four, flapped at one cross and his kicking wasn't great either. No confidence in him at the moment.

Cunningham 5 Thought he was very average tonight. Tried hard but his lack of experience was exposed at times.

Hobbs 3.5 What has happened? He looks all over the place at the moment, no confidence at all.

Davies 5 He was very very average, his distribution was bad and he didn't really dominate in the air. No threat at our corners and spent much of the time resembling an unco-ordinated giraffe.

Naughton 4 Out of position for the first goal and his overall play was poor. Not strong enough on the ball. Perhaps he was affected by playing against his boyhood club? Not up to his usal standard.

Gallagher 6 Very good free kick and another which forced a good save. For this he gets an extra mark otherwise his all round play simply wasn't good enough. He's not strong enough on the ball and some of his set pieces were woeful. Defensively doesn't work hard enough.

Wellens 6 Thought he was one of the few players who did ok. Put in a good shift to cover for some of his team mates.

King 4 He was poor. A typical anymous performance. Was he skipper last night? If so let's see some leadership on the pitch. The fact that Reid was able to run the show for the best part of an hour shows how innefective our midfield was on the night.

Abe 5 Worked hard and put in some good tackles but his passing and ball retention were poor.

Vassell 4 Out of position and not match fit. Offered nothing except for some good tracking back. He's not the answer to our wide player problem.

Waghorn 5 Typical performance. A lot of effort (forced one good save from the keeper early on) but basically innefective. However, when you play up front largely on your own you need your team mates to pass accurately to feet or down the channels, he got none of that. Most passes to him were either above head height or hit to him so hard it resembled a pin ball machine game.

Howard 8 Really don't know what to make of him. Start him and he looks hopeless but he changed the game. He held the ball up well, though he had to drop too deep to get it and won most things in the air. We need a physical presence on the pitch and at the moment he is all we have. A very well taken penalty as well.

Dyer 7.5 made a real difference. Showed some nice touches but also showed why he will never be truly top class.

Fryatt 4 Perhaps a tad harsh as he wasn't on long but looks slow, physically not strong enough and mentally doesn't seem to be reading the game at the moment.

Weale 5: Once the mistake was made he could do nothing much about their first goal. From a distance looked like he could have done better with their free kick.

Naughton 6: Not as impressive a performance as previously, lost the ball at times and was blocked off when he tried to run forwards.

Davies 5: Surprisingly less assured performance than previously and looked less calm and under pressure.

Hobbs 3: Whereas Davies and Naughton continue to have a close rapport, Hobbes, coming back into the team, was isolated and very shaky. He was inspired by and found his niche under Pearson.

Cunningham 6: Not as strong a player as Naughton at his best. Tried to push forward but did not often find a way through.

Abe 5: Strong performance to begin with, worked hard and helped the team to take control in the first 20 minutes, thereafter his performance faded and he was less effective as the game went on.

Wellens 6: A strong performance, never gave up but more effort expended than success gained.

King 5: Had little opportunity, through his own efforts or those of others, to make runs into the box. The passing around at the back did not help.

Gallagher 8: The main thing is he scored and that counts for a lot. He was his usual erratic self and could have done better with other chances.

Vassell 4: Made little impact and was never threatening but worked hard back and forwards.

Waghorn 3: Threatened their defence by his presence and running around but as a striker he was totally ineffective. He is another player who was inspired by Pearson and found his niche in the Pearson system.

Subs

Howard 8: He was the only player, when he came on (and he should have been on earlier) who seemed to offer leadership and to

spur the team on. A strong performance that lifted the standard of our play. Scored the penalty.

Dyer 7: A live wire who woke me up with his usual threatening runs at the opposition. He provided the only chance of scoring from open play and should have started.

Fryatt 1: Made no impact whatsoever, in contrast to Howard. He was pushed off the ball too easily and is no longer strong enough to pose a threat of any kind.

Referee 8: Did not get in the way, was consistent, allowed the game to flow and was not unnecessarily fussy and when he had to make a decision that impacted on the game it was in our favour.

The opposition 5: We should have beaten them and I thought we would. Committed deliberate fouls, which is something we do dot do, to stop us playing and worked hard to defend and close us down.

The atmosphere 5: despite the noise after our goal and the efforts by L1, the Fosse Boys and some of the kop, it was muted - a reflection of our performance. Am I the only one who thinks our drumming is poor and does little to lift the atmosphere?

Weale 6 - Nothing to do apart from pick the ball out of his net. Kicking was good

Naughton 6 - Crap first half, caught out of position and poor distribution. Much better 2nd half.

Davies 5 - This is why he's been farmed out on loan. Cocky and overconfident in possession leading to 3 or 4 dangerous turnovers in possession. Not as dominant in the air as normal

Hobbs 4.5 - Feel sorry for Jack, his confidence is shot. Wasn't too bad for an hour, made a couple of mistakes and his game went to pot.

Cunningham 6 - Generally solid but not much of an attacking threat, despite always being an outlet

Abe 6 - Very good first half an hour, breaking up play and good distribution. Faded thereafter. Got kicked up in the air a few times which may have affected him.

Wellens 6 - Looked lively and again, played very well in our dominant spell during the first half. Inventiveness and Ideas disappeared later.

King 5.5 - Got into the box less than normal and was barely involved.

Gallagher 7 - Quality goal, another decent attempt. Looks a lot fitter and hungrier (literally) than under Paulo.

Vassell 3 - Looked like a little boy lost in the cold. Did absolutely nothing save for destroy the momentum of a couple of our attacks and a couple of decent sliding tackles.

Waghorn 4 - Isolated, heavy touch, off the pace. Needs to buck his ideas up pronto.

Dyer 7, Howard 7, Fryatt 4
