Tilley Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 We've had thread after thread about goals that make you go mental for good reasons. But what the goals that gave you that sinking feeling? A few that spring to my mind. Allan Neilson vs Leicester - Worthington Cup final 1999 Leon Clarke vs Leicester - 3-1 home loss, 2008 Wayne Bridge vs Arsenal - Champions League QF 2004 Juliano Belletti vs Arsenal - Champions League final 2006 Cristiano Ronaldo - penalty World Cup 2006
Libertine Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Zidane's two goals in stoppage time vs England, Euro 2004.
Tilley Posted 29 November 2010 Author Posted 29 November 2010 Shevchenko vs Leicester 94th minute - Carling Cup 2007/08
Collier Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Can't remember if it was Germany's third or fourth in the world cup, but watching a turgid Gareth Barry try to race after Mesut Ozil before he set up Thomas Muller made me feel sick. Not technically a goal either but Andreas Moller's penalty in the shot out that knocked us out of Euro '96 gutted me even though I was just a kid. Most gutted I've been AT a game was when Darren Carter scored that peach for Preston in the last minute when Holloway was in charge. Could tell then we weren't good enough.
Corky Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Leon Clarke- Sheffield Wednesday's third goal in 2008
Finnegan Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Russia's winner in the Euro 2004 qualifiers play-off. We'd drawn at their place and the Millenium Stadium was absolutely rocking for the home leg, we missed some incredible sitters and lost 1 - 0 to a goal by a guy that later failed a drug test. Kermogant Pen miss last season This.
Corky Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink- winner for Chelsea in 2001/02. That season we were absolute crap, but that match we played brilliantly and deserved something out of the game. Lost it in the last minute.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Allan Neilson vs Leicester - Worthington Cup final 1999 That was the last time I cried at football. I was a 12 year old pussy.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Roy Essandoh (City 1 Wycombe 2) - Sparked the decline from which we still haven't really recovered Zinedine Zidane (France 2 England 1) - Gutting after dominating them for so long Leon Clarke (City 1 Sheff Wednesday 3) - Horrific day made worse by Wednesday tosser in pub giving it everything afterwards Robert Earnshaw (Forest's fourth in a 5-1 win) - The moment I could take no more and pissed off
Simmo86 Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Essandoh is up there. But for me it has to be Kermo/Waggy, so many emotions that night. I did have a little tear in my eyes afterwards. Gutted doesn't describe it
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 '99? Yeah. I maintain that if he hadnt scored that goal (or on the other hand if DB10 had put away the penno) we would have won the double again and they wouldnt have won the CL
Tilley Posted 29 November 2010 Author Posted 29 November 2010 'We?' This is getting ridiculous. Don't worry Dickie, just think when Wiltord slid it past Barthez to win the title
FoxyPV Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Kermo / Waggy last year v cardiff Netherlands 2nd goal v Ireland in USA 94 when Terry Phelan tried to head it back to Bonner from the half way line and I think Kluivert scored. Kluivert's second goal v Ireland in the playoff game to Euro 96
Stevosevic Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 'We?' This is getting ridiculous. Agreed. Kermo, Neilsson, Shevchenko, the obvious ones...but does anyone else agree with Alan Smith's in 2004? We had clawed it back to 2-2 in a big 6 pointer only for us to throw it away.
Simmo86 Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Agreed. Kermo, Neilsson, Shevchenko, the obvious ones...but does anyone else agree with Alan Smith's in 2004? We had clawed it back to 2-2 in a big 6 pointer only for us to throw it away. It thought he equalised to make it 2-2? And thats how it finished? Edited to say.....we did lose, my bad!
Haydos Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 That was the last time I cried at football. I was a 12 year old pussy. Snap. I was 10 though Absolutely gutted.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Snap. I was 10 though Absolutely gutted. To be honest, nothing's changed much. Now I'm just a 24 year old pussy.
ScouseFox Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 Romania's 3rd to knock us out of Euro 2000, bloody Phil Neville
StanSP Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 ROY ESSANDOH This willy puller came to mind first ! Also Alan Neilsen scoring against us in last minute of 1999 League Cup Final. Was my first Wembley trip too .
Jordan Posted 29 November 2010 Posted 29 November 2010 I clicked on this thread having no idea of what it was about--now I'm getting all depressed just a half hour before Leicester vs. Forest. Nice job, assholes.
