Corky Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 He's always tipped for the England job, though I've no idea why. He's a distinctly average manager who plays hideously negative football. It's cos he's English, will get the pashun back in the players through the English spirit
purpleronnie Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 I always thought he did well with what he had, boring to watch but did the job, but I guess Owen Coyle at bolton proves you can play good football and do well on a pretty tight budget.
darko2k7 Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 just heard they say they got rid of him because " he does match the ambitions of making the club a top 5/4 club or better "
ajthefox Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 bit of a joke really. You can say what you like about Big Sam's football but he it has a funny way of getting decent results for very average teams. Football is a results game at the end of the day and I don't think you can dispute that. Success is more important than entertainment in this game. Edit: also don't see Hughton getting the job. He did really well at Newcastle but I don't imagine Hughton is the one to take Blackburn from mediocrity now that someone has finally invested in them. Would be a like for like move imo. They're talking up a glamour signing and Hughton isn't it.
MC Prussian Posted 15 December 2010 Posted 15 December 2010 Rovers want(ed) Maradona as his replacement. Just seen it on the Breakfast Show on BBC One. And here's a link to the story.
Mack Posted 22 December 2010 Posted 22 December 2010 Caretaker manager confirmed until the end of the season. That's one relegation place sorted!
Jon the Hat Posted 22 December 2010 Posted 22 December 2010 Absolutley insane. I read some comment about this the other day. They walk in, Big Sam is sat in his office looking like he is not doing a lot, and Steve Keen is out doing the training looking all efficient and in command. This is what happens when people who know nothing about football come and buy a football club. Sadly this is all going to end in tears.
Father Ted Posted 22 December 2010 Posted 22 December 2010 Oh dear. They sack a cracking manager because they want to be ambitious and now they've appointed an inexperience and unknown coach as manager until the end of the season. Blackburn could be on their way to the Championship.

Blackburn could be on their way to the Championship. Totally agree. Sacking big sam was a massive mistake but putting in the caretaker is suicidal and it could really backfire. Prime example is when Sammy Lee took over from Big Sam, Sammy Lee was just diar as a number one and they nearly got relegated IIRC. What puzzles me the most, is this ambition the owners are speaking about. Fair play being patient on appointing a manager, but while they looked around why not leave Big Sam in charge, he was clearly doing a decent job. Be a bit of a shame if Blackburn got relegated.

Blackburn could be on their way to the Championship. And they are apparently giving him money to spend in Jan!
Mack Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 I read this all stems from a party they threw for all their flash harry Indian friends when they played Man Utd. And live on a big screen they got tonked 7-1. From that day his fate was sealed. These new owners are clueless, and that Kean is so full of himself it would'nt surprise me if he did'nt stab fat sam in the back. Now they are all going to hell in a handcart together!!
