lcfcsnow Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Sam Allardyce leaves Blackburn. Feel sorry for the fans of whatever club employs him next.
Mee Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Didn't see that one coming. Blackburn Statement - Press releasePosted on: Mon 13 Dec 2010 The Venky's Group, owners of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, has today confirmed the departure of manager Sam Allardyce and assistant manager Neil McDonald withimmediate effect. First team coaching duties will be taken on by Steve Kean (currently 1st team coach) for the immediate future. We have taken this decision as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club. We would like to put on record our thanks to Mr Allardyce for his contribution to Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
Jon the Hat Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 He is not doing too well in the "Surviving takeover of the club he works for" stakes is he? What Blackburn need is a world renowed football name to meet their stature as a long standing club in the European Elite.
Fox You Forest Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Big Sam to Iran, he'd go down well there.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Probably dont think he is good enough to take them to the next level, especially with the style of football they play.
ScouseFox Posted 13 December 2010 Author Posted 13 December 2010 Hughton installed as bookies favourites.
sewelly6 Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Allardyce has been sacked, i was very suprised. Anyone think Sven will jumpship just as he's building something good? Please don't Sven!
Mee Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Very highly doubt it, he seems really happy here. Chris Houghton is 4/1 on to take over.
Super_horns Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Probably dont think he is good enough to take them to the next level, especially with the style of football they play. True but Blackburn aren't going to get the big names the owners might want just yet.
MC Prussian Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 A very big surprise - I wonder what the bookies' odds were? DId a more than just decent job at Blackburn and recently got a couple of really good results, the club's on the up. The more baffled I am that he's gotten the sack. Very odd.
Salieri Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Martin Jol looking most likely at the moment.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Thought he was doing a pretty decent job to be fair to him. 13th in the Prem not bad for Blackburn surely? Houghton might fancy it as he probably wouldn't even need to bother moving house. He might fancy hanging on a couple of weeks to see if he can't get the West Ham job though.
Corky Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Blackburn fans on Talksport didn't seem too against the decision, said the football was boring to watch. I am surprised though because they aren't struggling really.
Zingari Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 I reckon the sexist/ageist remark about his defenders playing like "a bunch of old women" sealed his fate . You just can't say things like that these days Funny though , on the radio a few days ago he was being tipped for the England job
Finnegan Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 He's always tipped for the England job, though I've no idea why. He's a distinctly average manager who plays hideously negative football.
