gazfox9 Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Tunchev any day of the week if he can get to the level he was before, he was unbelievable in League One. He never needed to get out of 2nd gear. Agree with this. He's a different player to any defender we have at the club at the minute in the way he plays us out of trouble. most composed centre half I've seen for us in a few years.
Jay Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I believe he's out of contract this summer so you have to ask. Chances of him being back before the end of the season - Slim Chances of being offered a new deal this summer - even slimmer As much as I love the Tunch as a footballer I can't see him ever pulling on a city shirt again

Aylestone Fox Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I'm pretty sure that The Tunch will be offered another contract in the summer, providing his knee doesnt break down again. Also pretty sure Sven and his gang will be closely monitoring the guy's ability to turn/twist and change pace following his knee troubles. I also have no doubt that after a few games, either this season or at the start of next season (knee allowing of course) that he will again be a class act for the mighty blues,..regardless of the division we will be in. In :sge: we trust....
Haydos Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Urgh. Why are people so naive? If he comes back from this it will be MASSIVE achievement. Just for fun, who thinks he'll be challenging for a starting place in the first team this season? Then we can make a note of who to ignore in future.
Petchy Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Tunchev! Tunchev! Tunchev! Glad to actually see a picture of him training, even if the focus isn't on him!

Why so negative and defensive,. .most of the comments are in agreement with what you are saying, in that it will be a massive achievement, it seems to me that alot of the fans on here would just like to see him back in a City shirt after what he's been through. Might be yourslef that needs to be ignored eh...! In :sge: we trust, lets bash the Sheep tomorrow and march on,.... ,..Blue Army....
Kingylcfc Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 its so good to see Tunch back...but we dont need to rush him into the team....but Bamba and Tunchev. What a centre half pairing that will be
Kilworthfox Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Yeah that knee looks pretty damaged! Tunch :fox:
gazfox9 Posted 11 February 2011 Posted 11 February 2011 Tunchev! Tunchev! Tunchev! Glad to actually see a picture of him training, even if the focus isn't on him! I didn't realise we'd signed shaun wright phillips too.
Kilworthfox Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 Has Tunch played any reserve games? Do we know how close if at all he might be to playing a game or being benched?
teblin Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 Has Tunch played any reserve games? Do we know how close if at all he might be to playing a game or being benched? He played 60 minutes last week against San Jose Earthquakes.
MikeyT Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 Has Tunch played any reserve games? Do we know how close if at all he might be to playing a game or being benched? Think i heard Sven say he played 60 minutes recently.
Kilworthfox Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 He played 60 minutes last week against San Jose Earthquakes. great news if true, but against San Jose??? Any reason he would be playing against them? Seems bizzare???
FoxesFan123 Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 If Jack Hobbs was deemed not good enough by Sven, I don't think he'll have much time for someone whose been out for nearly 2 years (and isn't on loan here).
Kilworthfox Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 He played 60 minutes last week against San Jose Earthquakes. From the Merc! Tunchev takes another step along comeback trail Friday, February 25, 2011, 09:30 Comment on this story Aleksandar Tunchev took a step along the comeback trail as he played 65 minutes of Leicester City's 3-1 friendly victory over San Jose Earthquakes at Belvoir Drive yesterday. The Bulgarian central defender, who has been plagued by knee injuries, took his place in a team which was a mix of youth and experience to face the Californian outfit, who are less than a month away from kicking off the new MSL season in the States. San Jose came into the match having won similar friendlies against Birmingham City (4-0) and Colchester United (3-0). However, City were good value for their 3-1 success thanks to strikes from Elliott Chamberlain and Nathan Hicks, together with a penalty from Danny Uchechi. Chamberlain produced an excellent finish to put Leicester in front after just six minutes and, with little more than 15 minutes on the clock, City were two-up, Tom Parkes playing in Hicks, who again finished clinically. City's backline, which also featured Miguel Vitor and Bruno Berner alongside Tunchev, was only occasionally stretched by San Jose and goalkeeper Robert Ambrusics, who was to save a late penalty, dealt capably with anything that did get past the men in front of him in the first half. A mix up at the back did allow San Jose back into the game, Chris Wondolowski left with a simple finish to halve City's advantage after 53 minutes. But a foul on Vitor on the hour mark enabled Ucheci to restore the two-goal lead and though the visitors spurned a late chance from the spot, Leicester had plenty in the tank to see them over the line. Leicester first-team coach Dietmar Hamann said after the game that there was no question of rushing back 29-year-old Tunchev. "He needs to see how it goes. He has done ever so well to play 60-65 minutes," Hamann said. "Aleksandar needs to get games under his belt but he will have to take it day by day." Hamann was also pleased with the overall performance of the side as they put together some slick attacking football against a side who were also adept at passing the ball around. "Any team that plays at a good level is always welcome here," Hamann added. "We want the boys to have a proper test – and this was a good test for them. If they stand up to players like this there is every chance that they can play for our team."
Kilworthfox Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 If Jack Hobbs was deemed not good enough by Sven, I don't think he'll have much time for someone whose been out for nearly 2 years (and isn't on loan here). He has been out with 2 injuries (1 to each knee) but I still remember the calming influence he was to our defence, he never seemed to put a foot wrong. IF!... he can stay injury free he would be back into our X11 for sure in my opinion. Link from Feb 4th 2011 It looks like LCFC are slowly getting Tunch to play more reserve game time... 45 minutes on the 3rd of February, then 65 minutes on the 24th of February. Obviously he has not had a reaction from the first game as he would not have played in the second fixture. I also would like to think that if Tunchev had, had a negative reaction to the San Jose game then we would have been told through the Mercury by now seeing as it has been a week since?
Simo86 Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 It would be great if we could get Tunch fit enough for the first team! If he could perform to a similar level to before it would be another left footed centre back in the squad which would help a lot!!
Jimmy Posted 20 April 2011 Posted 20 April 2011 posted this in the team for Forest thread as well Stringer's Twitter :"Leicester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is considering a place in squad for Aleksandar Tunchev ahead of Friday's trip to face Forest"

Jimmy Posted 20 April 2011 Posted 20 April 2011 even if he isn't picked Friday you'd have to assume we'd see him in the final 3 games at some point
