SMX11 Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 Even if it all goes well, after 2 years out and only resuming FULL training today, how long till he can actually be fit enough to be picked? December 22nd 2012 I wonder if anyone gets this joke
Fox You Forest Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 Even if it all goes well, after 2 years out and only resuming FULL training today, how long till he can actually be fit enough to be picked? Well you'd think they'd need to have a proper look at him in some meaningful games before the summer because his contract is up, so they need to make a decision one way or the other, lets hope he comes back close to what he was.
hairy Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 I cannot see him figuring in the squad this season. He is not getting any younger so fitness will take a while to come back and match sharpness. I would also imagine after how costly he has been against how much he has played the club will let him go in the summer. Dont get me wrong he was quality but his injury and set backs have cost him his place in the squad
StanSP Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 I've said it before and I'll say it again - with the injury he has had, and countless recurrences of them, he'll never get back to full fitness and the area where he has injured will probably never heal fully. To put it bluntly, he's damaged goods. I reckon we'll let him go in the summer. It's disappointing really after all the hope and expectations there was for him.
Jake SH Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 It would be great to see the tunch get back on track and rebuild his career, it was a shame we lost him from what i saw looked quality in league 1 and he had only a few champ matches before injury. See why he was Bulgarian Captain all the best for him.
gazfox9 Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 Great news. Personally I'd take an 80% fit Tunchev over 'shopwindow' Davies all day long.
davieG Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Merc Tunchev & Vitor Aleksandar Tunchev stepped up his return from a long-term injury yesterday when he completed 45 minutes of a training game. The Bulgarian defender has endured two-years of misery since he damaged a cruciate ligament at Crystal Palace in January, 2009, and has not played for Leicester City since the Carling Cup game at Preston in September that year Tunchev took a significant step towards a first-team return yesterday. Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson said the Bulgarian was delighted to come through the training game, but said they would still be cautious about a possible return. "We will see how the knee reacts over the next 24 to 48 hours, that is the main concern," said Eriksson. "I spoke to him after the 45 minutes and you could see in his face he was happy but extremely tired. "It is one thing to be in the gym and another to go out on the pitch where you have to change direction, speed up and slow down. It is quite different. "He didn't look ready, but that is not important. The important thing is he played 45 minutes, and now we have to see how his knee reacts. "He is at least a month away before he is match fit, but the most important thing is that he doesn't get a bad reaction to his knee. "It is incredible to see him back. He has been out for two years and is in the gym every day. Let's hope it is over and he will soon be playing for us." Fellow defender Miguel Vitor also came through the game as he continues his comeback from a hamstring injury. The Portuguese defender has been out since damaging a hamstring at Ipswich before Christmas, and has been doing his rehabilitation at parent club Benfica. However, he has returned to City to recommence his season-long loan and Eriksson said he could soon be in the reckoning for a first team recall. "He played for an hour in a reserve game and he was okay," he said. "He was not match fit but it is good to have him back. I don't know how long before he can play again, a week or maybe two at least."
MattyFromLE Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Everything is seeming significantly rosey for us Leicester fans Great news!
Bugg Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 It is all set up for Tunch to bag a last minute winner in the play off final
The Doctor Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 December 22nd 2012 I wonder if anyone gets this joke I think i get it, that's the day the Mayan calendar says the world will end isn't it?
Haydos Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Fantastic professionalism I just hope the swelling on his knee doesn't prove to be too bad otherwise he's going to end up in a Ledley King situation, not being able to train if he wants to play etc. He's not played at 100% in 2 years either, it could all go tits up 10 minutes into his comeback game and for me that would be it. Really hope he can get over this and have a bit of luck.
StanSP Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I'd prefer to have a fully fit Hobbs/Bamba/Mee/Vitor over an uncertain and fairly crocked Tunchev for the rest of the season please

artursteppe Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I'd prefer to have a fully fit Hobbs/Bamba/Mee/Vitor over an uncertain and fairly crocked Tunchev for the rest of the season please Have you been drinking? I'd prefer to have the best players available and playing. If that turns out to be the Tunch, fantastic.
StanSP Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Have you been drinking? I'd prefer to have the best players available and playing. If that turns out to be the Tunch, fantastic. How can you say Tunch will be better than those 4 when he's been out for 2 years and has barely any experience of this league as it is now? He's only played 45 minutes of a training game. It'll be a while before he gets back in to the team - maybe mid-March - because he has to actually get match fit. That means playing a few reserve matches. Even then, he'll have to actually work his way in to the first-team squad; he won't just waltz straight in to the first 11. I stand by what I said - the other 4 before Tunch gets a look in.
Haydos Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Have you been drinking? I'd prefer to have the best players available and playing. If that turns out to be the Tunch, fantastic. It's a fair point to make, he's been out for 2 years and is unproven at this level. It's also fair to assume that players with this severity of injury may not be 100% committed on the pitch in terms of sprinting and in challenges. This can often lead to a higher chance of reccurence as well.

How can hebe unproven when he hasso many international caps although I accept few come back at the same level aftersuch a long lay off and most not all ie Eady Jones Clemence
StanSP Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 How can hebe unproven when he hasso many international caps although I accept few come back at the same level aftersuch a long lay off and most not all ie Eady Jones Clemence Do you know how many games he's played in this division? Two. And that was 2 around 18 months ago. This division increases in competitiveness and has become more challenging even in that small period of time. So yes, he is unproven, regardless of international caps. Added to that, his last international match would have been at least 2 years ago.
Petchy Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 In all fairness to Arthur, he said IF Tunchev turns out to be playing well then he should be selected. To me, that's fair enough!
Haydos Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 How can hebe unproven when he hasso many international caps although I accept few come back at the same level aftersuch a long lay off and most not all ie Eady Jones Clemence This. I'm all for hoping and if we can ease him back into the first team squad then great. But this will be even more difficult than normal without regular reserves fixtures. Bringing on a centre back who hasn't played for 2 years in the last 20/30 mins of games in the climax of a play-off push is not exactly ideal. I'm just being realistic and tbh, even if his rehab from this point on goes well, I would expect to see a very limited number of appearances from him this season.
fox24 Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 well i can honestly say that tunchev is part of svens plans as sven has personally told tunchev he is part of the future,he has been training for a while now and was ok after playing 45 minutes,he will be back soon trust me
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 If he gets back to full fitness and proves himself then brilliant until then its a complete non-issue, would have to agree with StanSP in that i would rather have Hobbs/Vitor/Mee/Bamba fully fit at present
Ric Flair Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Tunchev any day of the week if he can get to the level he was before, he was unbelievable in League One. He never needed to get out of 2nd gear.
