Solihullfox Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 Sorry Furious BUT.......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, not again
haraven Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 Doesn't answer your question, but it's an interesting read no matter: http://www.leicesterchronicler.com/origins.htm
broughtonblue Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 And what the hell are you on about!?!? Thought exactly the same when I saw the title, glad I'm not the only one!
thybluefox Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 I've not heard us be called that for bloody ages. As I understood it, it was because we were always the last team to be talked about on MOTD etc.
AmyLGK Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 Thought exactly the same when I saw the title, glad I'm not the only one! I get confused with most things I see on here I've not heard us be called that for bloody ages. As I understood it, it was because we were always the last team to be talked about on MOTD etc. Oh I SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Webbo Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 I've not heard us be called that for bloody ages. As I understood it, it was because we were always the last team to be talked about on MOTD etc. It's from a song/chant, "We hate Nottingham Forest we hate blah blah too and Leicester". We just happen to tagged on the end. I think it's totally random myself.
FuriousFox46 Posted 4 January 2011 Author Posted 4 January 2011 You referring to the song sung by Chelsea? I think that's where it comes from. I have no idea. I heard it was from road signs saying the North and Leicester and was just hoping someone would clear it up.
KFS Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 I think that's where it comes from. I have no idea. I heard it was from road signs saying the North and Leicester and was just hoping someone would clear it up. Yeah it's cos Leicester fans used to moan that Chelsea never came to Filbo, so they included us in their songs.
Joe. Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 You're all wrong? Pretty sure it's because on a Motorway sign it says 'The North and Leicester' or something along those lines? Hence "we all follow the [team], over land and sea"...
haraven Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 You're all wrong? Pretty sure it's because on a Motorway sign it says 'The North and Leicester' or something along those lines? Hence "we all follow the [team], over land and sea"... ^^ Correct answer ^^

Hence "we all follow the [team], over land and sea"... You just voided your argument, pal. You can't tell us we're wrong then say pretty sure
Ashley Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 There's a thread on this already. Three options. Motorway sign. OR Chelsea and Leicester footballing hooliganism from 70, 80 and 90's. OR Lovejoy on soccer am saying "and leicester"
ajthefox Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 This came up in a thread a few weeks back and there pages of different claims with everyone saying they've got the "actual" reason but no-one can prove it any which way.
FuriousFox46 Posted 4 January 2011 Author Posted 4 January 2011 You're all wrong? Pretty sure it's because on a Motorway sign it says 'The North and Leicester' or something along those lines? Hence "we all follow the [team], over land and sea"... I already said that
thybluefox Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 This came up in a thread a few weeks back and there pages of different claims with everyone saying they've got the "actual" reason but no-one can prove it any which way. So basically, just make up whatever you think sounds the best
Alexikokopops Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 There's a thread on this already. Three options. Motorway sign. OR Chelsea and Leicester footballing hooliganism from 70, 80 and 90's. OR Lovejoy on soccer am saying "and leicester" Lovejoy says it because he's a Chelsea fan, who sing the song. He's a symptom of it, not a cause.
ibbosuk Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 There's a thread on this already. Three options. Motorway sign. OR Chelsea and Leicester footballing hooliganism from 70, 80 and 90's. OR Lovejoy on soccer am saying "and leicester" I know it from just after Oneil left us, and we started to become a very average to poor boring Prem side, thats when Lovejoy on soccer am saying "and leicester"
Maybes Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 Joe is right. Arsenal have started signing it too.
Lisburn Fox Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 I also believe it is the Motorway signpost, however do remember a version of the story, that back in the day we took a handy crowd to Chelsea and surprised them and they added the and Leicester bit to the fight forever more because of boxing day malarkie.
brockmyster Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 You're all wrong? Pretty sure it's because on a Motorway sign it says 'The North and Leicester' or something along those lines? Hence "we all follow the [team], over land and sea"... Yeah its this and its sung by a few london clubs
