foxoffderby Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 You missed the fact that for about his last 4 games with us he just gave up? You missed the fact that it was a key reason for our appalling Christmas period from and once we settled down after he'd gone we've looked better at the back and have gone on an unbeaten run? You missed the fact that it was reported that he just walked out on us and people at the club were bemused when he didn't turn up for training (reported on here)? You missed the fact he went sniffing for a club, any other club rather than turn out for us and now it's clear no one wants him, he's back? Aside from that though he does have talent when his head is in the game I don't really think he just gave up any game, he made a couple of mistakes who hasen't this season? Right....it was all his fault was it, I always thought football was a team game played by 11 men. If he really can't be bothered and doesn't bother to come to training then why does Sven still fancy him? If somebody wants to try to better themselves, does that mean he hasan attidude? I think were lucky to have him here if he does come and I welcome him with open arms I don't think I've really missed anything, perhaps your not really living on the same planet as the rest of us and reading too much into this. He seems quite excited to be coming back on his tweet. Does that sound like somebody who can't be bothered? (joining Svens Revoultion etc)
darko2k7 Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Naughton - Davies - Bamba - Van Aanholt When i first looked at this I my first thought was not only is it a scary defence but would also make a strong midfeild very attacking ,( I'm not saying make it our midfeild but can imagine it being one)all in all very pleased with the deph of the squad now
nickelbyfox Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 We just need a reserve team league now. I think Davies was a bit unsettled about the speculation towards the end of his first spell, which affected his performance levels. He shown enough for me to be a great signing, hopefully the knowledge of him being here for the rest of the season will settle him down. Agree completely, he was shipped off to city on a loan to impress, so you can earn a deal to another premier league team as you had been frozen out at Villa park. Put himself in the shop window so to speak and secure his future with a new long term deal. So I feel if he comes back his best bet will be taking us to the premier league and earning a transfer with us Hard to criticize him when there was so much uncertainty around his future, has to be at least a little unsettling. Now he can focus on us hopefully
sdb Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Incredible squad of defenders we have now, on paper. Just hope they perform to their potential and it's not all too little too late.
StanSP Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Love how Mee's gone totally out of the equation! Anyway, Van Aanholt will be a cracking signing. Did he play for Newcastle last season when they played us? I think it was him who threatened our goal a couple of times with some long-range shots.
1991FOX Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Best team in the league? No Doubt! Every team in the league would take our squad ahead of their own sven is god! :sge:
prestonfox Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 I think your allowwd a max of 5 loan players in your match squad Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
gibwarrior1988 Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Signing Davies is great news. We've really missed him. Hobbs isn't good enough dont talk crap. He wouldn't have got player of the year if he wasn't good enough. Possibly its your money glazed eyes doing the talking. This club is quickly loosing all its heritage and background.

Change our name to Leicester Fosse!
hackneyfox Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Heritage and background? Is that playing players just because they played last season even though better are available now?

Change our name to Leicester Fosse! that's funny, as I remember quite a stirr on here when there was a possibility that O'neill would come back. Anyway, that's besides the point. I just find it sad how things are long forgotten. I hope Hobbs goes and finds a club who treat him with some respect.

The modern day footballer doesn't care about individual clubs any more. It's all about their own careers and money. I don't begrudge them that but equally I won't ever feel sorry for them. They get paid crap loads to kick a ball about. We should play the best players available to us, and although Hobbs was great last season and before, he Waggy and perhaps Berner too have not looked as good this year and we don't have time to hang about and give them so many games to re-discover that form. It's a harsh life being a football player... Or is it? Not really when you think about it. Pretty sure Hobbs would move away and not think twice if he was offered more money or a bigger Club, so equally if we have potentially better players come in, we shouldn't think twice either.

MrSpaM Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Loving the way our squad is shaping up now, my only concern is if we dont get promoted this season, our squad is going to go from one of the best in the league, back to average all over again unless some of these loan players decide they don't mind playing in the championship and we sign them on perms once the seasons finished. I'm really hoping we'll get promoted, but i'm also worried about what our defence will look like next season if we don't. In :sge: we trust

Just think what Sven could do with a whole Summer and his phone book too Exciting times!!

Thats what i'm trying to say though, i'm not trying to put a downer on anything but if we don't go up, were going to lose practically our entire defence. If we failed to get promotion, and didnt sign any of the loanees permanatly we'd be left with :- Neilson Berner Bamba (if no premierships offer us stupid money for him in the summer, which it looks like they might) Hobbs Parkes Lamey Again i'm not trying to put a downer on anything, but that dosnt look good at all, were putting all our eggs in the promotion basket and it's a real risk.

As opposed to what though? I see your point but surely the alternative is to just stick with what we've got and be in the same position with just the players we've signed thus far. Obviously we need to push for promotion and the way to do that is by getting in better players. Or we could just sign players that are good enough for the championship but not the prem so they will stick with us whether we go up or not. I know what i'd rather us do...
Joe. Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 I think the quality of our full-backs being Naughton and Van Aahholt is still being understated. Superb pair; quick, mobile and useful in attack. It pains me to think of days gone by with the likes of Alan Maybury and Alan fucking Rogers. At the moment you'd think Davies and Vitor would be the best defensive partnership, but quite whether Eriksson would be more inclined to start Bamba for his prowess at the other end is another thing. Either way, the options are superb on paper. If we can get Hobbs back to his former self we'll be laughing all the way to the top six. I genuinely mean it. At the moment it's the defence that'll let us down, there's no issues going forward.

Yeh I'm with you there but like the other poster just said, what's the alternative? These standard of players wouldn't sign on a permanent with us in the Championship so Loan is really our only option for now. It's not ideal but I think it's the best solution for a quick promotion charge. We will no doubt have to start from scratch again in the Summer if we fail to go up but, with Sven and all is contacts, I think he could build an equal if not better team for the 2011/2012 season.

Sven knows that too thangod and has been trying to address it since he arrived which I think with these latest signings, he may have finally cracked it. Would still like to see a Striker come in though as if Waggy goes on loan, we only have Howard as back-up for the Yak and Vassel. Other than that, I think we have an awesome starting 11 and have given ourselves a great chance of fighting for a play-off spot, just hope it's not too late
