Soccer AM Fox Posted 17 February 2011 Author Posted 17 February 2011 What about The Singha Stadium? Rumoured to be off the table as the regulations of alcohol advertising are becoming increasingly strict

potter3 Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 Let's fulfil mandaric's wish and call it the walkers bowl Yeah because he was here in 2002.
Phlashman Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 It has to be: "The Andy King Power Svenodrome"
m00nie Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 keep it as the walkers... good leicester connection.. no real reason to be changing it.. if new owners come in a few years down the line will we look at changing it agaiin?? and again?
Captain... Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 keep it as the walkers... good leicester connection.. no real reason to be changing it.. if new owners come in a few years down the line will we look at changing it agaiin?? and again? Why can't it reamain Walkers Stadium? The Walkers / Filbert Way for me. I thought it was called the Walkers for sponsorship reasons, the sponsorship deal is running out, hence the proposed name change, I may have got this wrong. Basically if people will pay enough money to call the stadium after their product let them, but as fans we should start calling it Filbert Way, or Freemans Wharf, or Raw Dykes road, the mistake we made was not having anything else in the name, the Boro got it right with their stadium, the BT Cellnet Riverside Stadium, the Riverside for short and non capitalist use. We should at least call it the Filbert Way King Power Stadium, or the Walker's Stadium at Freeman's Wharf. Just checked on Wiki: The all-seater stadium, inaugurated in July 2002, holds 32,500 and is named in a ten-year deal after crisp manufacturers Walkers, and then: In 2002, former Leicester City shirt sponsors Walkers signed a ten-year deal for naming rights. The agreement was superseded halfway through the period, in May 2007, when they again paid a "seven-figure sum" to extend their sponsorship of the stadium until 2017. Which implies it will be the Walker's for 6 more years so this is a moot point. Just found this: The home of Leicester City could be renamed the King Power Stadium and expanded by a third in size.City's new Thai owners say they want the ground, known as the Walkers Stadium since it opened in 2002, to share the name of their business empire.... ..."I think it's important we ask about the renaming rights and ask for more money from Walkers," Mr Mandaric said.... ...A Walkers spokeswoman said: "We are extremely surprised to hear this news. "We have a 10-year contract with Leicester City for the Walkers Stadium and are very proud of our connection with both the city of Leicester and Leicester City Football Club, which we hope will continue into the future. m00nie Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 and then: Which implies it will be the Walker's for 6 more years so this is a moot point. sure theres some get out clause.. didnt it come up when top n co first came in?? also if were going to do it for financial reasons we could be forever swapping n changing it and could end up with some crazy name at some point.. (all though people before have said they dont care what its called) i would prefer to keep it the same even if they pay a little less than some others may..
Starkwell Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 Rumoured to be off the table as the regulations of alcohol advertising are becoming increasingly strict They could call it 'The Singha Please Enjoy Responsibly Stadium'....
