After tonights game i must admit im so pleased for young waggy,He is still young and ive always been a big fan of him and i know there is bags of potential there he just needs game time. And tonights brief spell he has realy

filled me with confidence that he can be a top striker for us,infact he did more in his 10mins than half the starting 11.He also comes across as a loyal lad to he may spend alot of time on the bench but his been patient and he had his to chance to shine tonight and he did it in great style so a big well done to the lad.im just hoping sven gives him a chance fair enough he had a slow start to the season but didnt they all.ive just seen his goal on sky sports my god was it a beauty. No real reason for this post just wanted to say well done waggs :scarf::chant: :chant:

We need to keep him for sure. He's quality through and through, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up making the England squad one day. His loyalty is astounding as well, seems like he's really fallen in love with the club. After he missed that penalty last season, I think we all knew by his reaction that his heart was with us and I really hope Sven gives him a proper chance to have a good run in in the starting 11.

Great strike, his best hopes right now are to become an impact player from the bench, and rightly so given our other options.

The most impressive aspect of what was a great strike anyway was that for someone who is so left footed he struck it with his right - let's hope Sven has been doing some right foot coaching it can only improve his overall game

I wonder if either of you would have called him loyal had he gone on loan to Derby (of all clubs)...

Fair play to the lad in previous games when he has come on as an impact sub nothing has really gone for the lad, it was great to see that when he came on last night he looked like a breathe of fresh air like there was an extra edge. Top finish from him well played Waggy you know where you belong :chant:

i am a big fan of waggy and think he can become a top quality player, regards to his loan dont know if anyone heard his interview after last night game, he said he is willing to fight for his place and happy to sit on bench and play when needed, got no indication he wanted to ever leave think it was just derby asking the questions.. great impact player and a wonderful strike last night, james didnt even move

Wonderful knowing that he stayed to fight for his place instead of going on loan elsewhere .. This time of year we need the goals to be flying in, hope Waggy gets a run and the goals to match it

I'am so pleased for waggy. He needs to play 70mins now hopefully against cardiff vassells not done alot since hes been here i dont no how sven can pick him every game it seem even if he plays shit he still picks him. I just hope he gets a bit more game time hes gagging for it if he doesnt he will not be here next season as hes to good for the bench!

Waggy's goal was

1. brilliant

2. shown again and again and again and again every few seconds last night oh SSN.

3. terrific

4. worth his transfer fee on its own.

5. equally as good as that scored by the Yak against Direby.

6. worth the two extra points, giving us three as opposed to one -or could have been none!

7. premier league class.

8. a reminder to Sven that he ought to be at least on the bench on Tuesday.

9. not before time

10. a hell of relief

The question is, can he realistically replace Yakubu? It would be unlikely anyway but considering Yak has been putting them away fairly consistently since he came I can't see it myself. I think he'd be more likely to replace Vassell out wide if anyone, but again, I'm not sure it'd happen unless he keeps getting goals off the bench.

Anyway, it's always a positive thing to have a decent young player like him available. I don't think anyone doubts that he could do a job up top if needed at some point.

I think Waghorn was in the starting 11 five or six times for Sven (Fryatt just a couple of times) so Sven gave him a chance but was in the opinion that we needed to improve even though he thought Waghorn was one for the future.

Now Waggy have trained on and maybe he can fight his way into the starting eleven again. That's football and the way it is when you bring in new managers.

I don't think Sven is afraid of giving players that has been out in the cold a new chance, as long as they impress in training.

Sven said that Oakley was very good in training and now he got his chance to get back into the team (like it or not).

I think we just have to try and trust our manager that he will select what he think is the best 11 for every game.

As it is now we can rotate between Gallagher, Dyer, Vassell, Waghorn and even Yak without losing too much attacking.

It's 14 games left and eventually play-offs so it's great to have this rotating possibility.

We have the same possibilties in the back four as Berner, Bruma, Aanholt, Bamba, Mee and Naughton can rotate with ease. As an example Bamba can play on the right and def. midfield.

Play Waghorn instead of Vassell against cardiff,.. might not be his preferred position but I'm sure he'd love the chance to go to cardiff and make up for the penalty heart break! Plus he deserves to start now

Great strike, his best hopes right now are to become an impact player from the bench, and rightly so given our other options.

I'd also say that this is his best bet. He's never going to replace the 4-in-6 Yak, and he's not going to remove Gally from the starting lineup either. Lloyd would seemingly be our preferred option for his pace and directness if we were to leave out Darius, as well. If Wag can just keep coming on, chasing everything down, and getting in the positions to make things happen, then I'm sure he'll eventually be given a chance to start. S'all about consistency.

Waggy's time will come i reckon. Yak and Vassell are going to lose form sooner or later or get complacent/tired/injured. Not even certain that a few loanees will be here next season whatever happens.

I hope Waghorn stays patient, keeps working hard, learns from the likes of Yak and Vassell.

The end result will hopefully be a hell of a striker who is ready to step into the breech when it is time for him to become our main man up front.:fc:

good point he's got demons to lay to rest there. should start imo, Vassel's hit and miss for me, especially out wide

I recall Alan Young on RL a few weeks ago saying Waghorn's time would come soon. Last night proved him right and demonstrated perfectly that the team's success depends on the entire squad.
