darko2k7 Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 The Foxes travel to London on Saturday following the 1-1 draw with midlands rivals Coventry City. City dominated early proceedings and Yakubu went close when he found himself one on one with Keiren Westwood. The Irish 'keeper did well to save Yakubu's effort. On 14 minutes, the Sky Blues took the lead against the run of play, when Marlon King netted from close range. Lukas Jutkiewicz crossed the ball in from the by-line before King shot on the turn to open the scoring. Frustration then followed for the home side, as they continued to carve out chances with no reward. Patrick Van Aanholt, Yuki Abe and Yakubu all went close before City got the equaliser two minutes before the half-time whistle. The Coventry defenders were merely bystanders when Kyle Naughton skipped past them, before firing a superb shot into the top left corner, leaving Westwood no hope of saving the shot. The home side were on top for most of the second half, and their best chance came when Sol Bamba hit the post, after he picked the ball up from Yakubu's initial header. Sven-Goran Eriksson will be looking for his team to get back to winning ways against Queens Park Rangers this weekend. The Foxes sit just two points away from the play-off zone, a win over the league leaders on Saturday could see City break into the top six for the first time this season. Neil Warnock's QPR sit five points clear at the top of the npower Championship table, having lost just three times so far. The R's have been on a ten-match unbeaten run and like the Foxes, they have lost just once since the turn of the year. Their latest win came away at Middlesbrough. The visitors strolled home to a comfortable 3-0 win to open the gap at the top of the table. Heidar Helguson bagged a brace and to seal the win, Adel Taarabt scored the final goal of the afternoon on 68 minutes. Neil Warnock will be looking for his side to extend their unbeaten run to eleven games on Saturday afternoon and cement their position at the top of the league. http://www.lcfc.com/javaImages/ae/7c/0,,10274~8944814,00.jpg Overall (all competitions) Leicester City: 20 Draw: 10 Queens Park Rangers: 24 Last 3 Matches (all competitions) 18.09.2010 - Leicester City 0-2 QPR Goal Scorer(s): Mackie x2 Championship Attendance: 22,968 05.04.2010 - Leicester City 4-0 QPR Goal Scorer(s): KingKing, Howard, Waghorn x2 Championship Attendance: 22,079 30.10.2009 - QPR 1-2 Leicester City Goal Scorer(s): Taarbt/Fryatt x2 Championship Attendance: 17,082 Watch / Listen live streaming thread or live on telly thread Foxes player ( free 14 day trial atm for those interested ) COME ON CITY 1-2 CITY, KING, YAK
cc_star Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Ricardo Naughton Bamba Bruma Mee Abe King Wellens Oakley Yakubu Vassell Subs Weale, Gallagher, Moreno, Vitor, Dyer, Berner, Waghorn My tip, waggy to get equaliser or winner from the bench as long as its not something like the 89thmin before he's brought on
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Starting line up for Leicester today from Radio Leicester is: Ricardo, naughton, bamba, bruma, mee, abe, king, wellens, oakley, vassell, yakubu. Subs:weale, gallagher, moreno, vitor, dyer, berner, waghorn Ricardo, naughton, bamba, bruma, mee, abe, king, wellens, oakley, vassell, yakubu. Subs:weale, gallagher, moreno, vitor, dyer, berner, waghorn Damn you, beat me by seconds!
Dylan Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 From the looks of the starting line-up- we'll have NO width attacking
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 4-4-2 today then with Oakley/Abe on the right? Diamond?
MattyFromLE Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Must be tactical to perhaps stop QPR playing? Will be looking for Abe i'd imagine to keep Taarabt in his pocket. Dissapointed no Schlupp, and never sure when i see Oakley on the team sheet! In Sven we trust!
hebangsthedrums Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Could be Abe Wellens and Oakley with King just behind front 2, or Wellens King and Abe with Oakley just in front back 4
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 so some variation on 4-4-2 then Will be diamond i'd have thought Abe Oakley Wellens King
Dylan Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 4-4-2 today then with Oakley/Abe on the right? Yes just realised that, looks like the only option. But then surely Gallagher, Dyer, or even Waghorn would be better than Oakley on the right?! Maybe even Berner in LM and Vassell on the right would be better?! Schlupp NOT on the bench.
Bablemikey Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Really must do better defensively if we harbour any real ambitions of pushing on from here. Big ask against the leaders I suspect but a 0-0 would be great.
cc_star Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 so some variation on 4-4-2 then Don't think so, think he's just playing Oakley in place of Gally who's been ineffective for a couple of games now. QPR are very mobile & anyone who's capable of putting a foot in, might be needed.
ousefox Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Well Berner might as well leave if he isn't getting in as the second choice left back now. That seems like a really weird team selection, i'd expect 442 with no wingers which seems really odd, or 451 with vassel and oakley on the wings which would also be weird. Oh well, we'll see what happens.
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Yes just realised that, looks like the only option. But then surely Gallagher, Dyer, or even Waghorn would be better than Oakley on the right?! Maybe even Berner in LM and Vassell on the right would be better?! Schlupp NOT on the bench. Nope i was wrong. Will be a diamond. Abe at the back in front of the back 4 and Kingy behind the front 2.
Dylan Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Unfortunately, think Berner's time is up for Leicester now then. Not even 2nd choice LB, having a CB being put ahead of him in LB.
Dylan Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Nope i was wrong. Wil be a diamond. Abe at the back in front of the back 4 and Kingy behind the front 2. No width then at all
ScouseFox Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 4-1-3-2 with Abe on Taraabt and 3 CMs. Very narrow, Mee's going to be badly exposed in his less favourite position.
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Unfortunately, think Berner's time is up for Leicester now then. Not even 2nd choice LB, having a CB being put ahead of him in LB. Think with the pace of Routledge etc he would have been left on his bum to be fair. I love him, but he would have been ripped apart surely.
ozleicester Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 Nothing against oakley, but i think the Abe/Gally link is essential. Disapointed to see Gally on the bench
