Just seen...

Players will be banned from wearing snoods during matches after 1 July

Flashing up as the breaking news on BBC sport.

Probably not really worth a topic so feel free to merge it if you agree admin.

Thoughts? Personally i don't really give a shite if they wear them or not, it's not harming anyone else or affecting how they play but they do look like a dick.

Nice to see the IFAB really getting to grips with important footballing matters.

I wonder how many meetings it took for them to decide that one.

exactly what i was thinking that fact that they have actually concerned about snoods when the game is falling apart at the seems sums it up really

Why, just why?

because snoods are for the poofs.

they should be playing in short sleeve shirts, shorts and socks, no gloves, no undershirts, no snoods - they need to man the **** up.

N.B: Before anyone gets all pissy, this post was made in jest.

I think they shouldn't wear them, but they should be given the choice not to wear them instead of being made not to wear them.

They are slightly 'pansyish'.

Bit authoritarian for my liking. I could understand if individual clubs banned them because they are not part of the 'uniform' but a ban from on high feels wrong.

“We want a debate whether it could be dangerous. There may be a safety issue – if for example a player was running though on goal and an opponent grabbed his snood, that could pose a potential danger to his neck,” a FIFA spokesman was quoted.

a bit like a shirt collar then ?

Can't complain about this because they are ridiculous things to be wearing during a match but it doesn't really bother me that much.

As others have said it's complete rubbish that this is the kind of thing governing bodies are thinking about instead of issues that have massive campaigns behind them like safe standing and such.

How do you know that? Can two or more seperate items not be weighed up simultaneously?

Just because action has been taking on snoods, it doesn't mean it's the only issue that's been on FIFA's agenda recently, for all we know the issue of safe standing could be at the fore front of their minds.

Probably not likely, mind, though I agree with your point.

Also in regards health and safety, alright then Zingari, you wrap a bit of rope round your neck and we'll do an experiment, shall we? You run with me yanking on the rope and you run with me yanking on your shirt?

Quite clearly not the same sort of danger.
