reynard Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 I was just wondering what people thought was ideally our best centre back combination. It seems to me we have three quite useful players vying for two positions all with positives and negatives. Bamba Athletic/ a character and some goal scoring prowess and reasonable pace. Sometimes not as dominant in the air as he could be and looks likely to mess up at times. Mee Naturally left footed which gives the side balance/ Not the tallest but still seems quite good in the air. Goal threat??? pace?? Some crunching tackles. Inexperienced. Bruma very pacey and good on the ball. Confident at getting forward. Inexperienced but looks quality after only a couple of appearances. At the moment Mee has to play left back but when PVA is fit again I thought Bamba looked uncomfortable on the left side of defence vs Coventry (was this an issue vs QPR?). Cam Bruma play left centre back? I'm just wondering whether or not a pairing of Bruma on the right and Mee on the left is the best natural pairing we could have. Looking forward and dreaming that we might be able to resign both Mee and Bruma (unlikely I guess) but I wonder whether these two might be the best bet for a dynamic centre half pairing. Not that Bamba has done much wrong but just wondered what others thought.
danny. Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 I'd say Bruma RCB, Mee LCB and I'd play Bamba DM instead of Abe
North-LondonFox Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 There might be a case for a 3-5-2 formation? Mee, Bruma and Vitor/Bamba. I have thought for a while that we need someone a bit more phsically imposing in central midfield and I think if Vitor played at CB, then Bamba could be the answer - he's very big and agile, so it could work (although it would probably be too big a risk at this stage of the season). We certainly have the full backs for a 3-5-2 (when PVA is fit). Not a massive fan of 3-5-2, but we seem to have the ideal players for it - and it would mean we potentially could get Waggy to do a lot of the leg work for Yakubu. Its an idea that has ocurred to me, I just wondered if anyone thought the same (sorry of anyone's posted anything similar/the same before!!)
Fox92 Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 When everyone is fit I'd like to see: Ricardo Naughton -- Bruma -- Mee -- Berner Vassell -- Wellens -- Abe -- Van Aanholt King/Gallagher Yakubu
lcfcsnow Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 From what I've seen Vitor is the best all round defender we have, shame he's not been able to stay fit.
Forfoxsake1 Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Walsh taggart Elliot Watts and prior on the bench
Christoph Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 I'd say Bruma RCB, Mee LCB and I'd play Bamba DM instead of Abe I'd be happy with this. Give our team abit of umph in midfield
Brown Fox Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Bamba and Mee. I don't think Bruma is strong enough in the air as seen with him being dominated. Think that Bruma would be better at RB but he won't displace Naughton. I still think he'd be good at CDM even though it didn't fully work against Cardiff Bamba and Mee. I don't think Bruma is strong enough in the air as seen with him being dominated by Marlon King. Think that Bruma would be better at RB but he won't displace Naughton. Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Bamba and Hobbs. But thats impossible so Bamba and Mee. Dont rate Bruma from what I've seen.
acooling08 Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 I'd say Bruma RCB, Mee LCB and I'd play Bamba DM instead of Abe No, just no.
dave_the_fox Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Bamba and Hobbs. But thats impossible so Bamba and Mee. Dont rate Bruma from what I've seen. Did they not mention brumas name on final score then!?
Bugg Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 When everyone is fit I'd like to see: Ricardo Naughton -- Bruma -- Mee -- Berner Vassell -- Wellens -- Abe -- Van Aanholt King/Gallagher Yakubu No Bamba?
LCFCmatt Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Anyone but Bruma. Terrible defender. Has anyone noticed that we haven't won a game since he arrived? I reckon the centre backs should be mee and vitor, with bamba upfront
Bugg Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Anyone but Bruma. Terrible defender. Has anyone noticed that we haven't won a game since he arrived? I reckon the centre backs should be mee and vitor, with bamba upfront Bruma terrible? He was quality on Saturday.
Fox92 Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 No Bamba? Not sure. I like a balanced defence with a left footed left centre half and a right footed right centre half, so I think at the minute my prefered choice would probably be Bruma and Mee. From what I've seen of Bruma he is the best defender, and you can see why he plays for Chelsea. However, I'd also like to see Vitor in as well because he is also quality. Anyone but Bruma. Terrible defender. Has anyone noticed that we haven't won a game since he arrived? I reckon the centre backs should be mee and vitor, with bamba upfront What? He was quality at QPR on Saturday.
LCFCmatt Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Bruma terrible? He was quality on Saturday. But terrible in every other game
Foxblogger Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 It's amazing to think we've had as many as 9 different centre-back partnerships this season, isn't it?
cc_star Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Bruma looks like he could be the best I've seen at Filbo Walkers for years & years He was obviously played out of position in holding midfield in his first 2 games, which he said he hadn't played since he was 15 and it far from worked however, his performance in his proper position against QPR was immense Bamba I'm in two minds about, his positioning is sometimes well off (he always seems to be too far away from the person he's supposed to be picking up) & his decision making is frequently poor (he brings the ball down when it should be headed clear) - He does seem to be getting the bounce of the ball in his favour though & his ability on the ground (he does have great ability) & pace gets him out of any hole he seems to get himself in. since after his début Mee has been fantastic, don't recall him doing anything wrong So I favour Bruma & Mee at the back which takes care of the LCB position like no one else can, but given that PVA is out, Mee is obviously going to be LB, which leaves Bruma & Bamba with Vitor as backup
cc_star Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 It's amazing to think we've had as many as 9 different centre-back partnerships this season, isn't it? The direct correlation between that stat and our goals against column is the most obvious thing I've seen.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 March 2011 Posted 8 March 2011 Bamba and Bruma with Mee at left back and that really crappy player () Naughton at right back, then we still have Vitor as back up
