Wycombe Fox Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 I would rather shove the blunt end of a rotating pineapple up my arse than watch the any Royal Wedding and as for another feckin Bank Holiday...pah! I'm self-employed - no work, no money W*nkers. Yes, I did get out of the wrong side of the bed.
nothin2seehere Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 I'll be celebrating my days off work, and might just might have it on the telly if there's nothing better to do.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 Personally I couldn't care less. Spend the day in either a beer garden or doing much needed work on my dissertation. Can't say as I'd mind a go on the future wife to the heir though, be well worth the risk of being bumped off in an underground tunnel.
MikeyT Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 Wheres the "Couldnt give 2 flying ****s" option? Haha agreed. Would prefer to watch the hair on my legs grow
Corky Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 Would it be wrong if i toss one off over Kate during the wedding? Yes, it would offend Her Maj and the other guests.

Webbo Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 yeah of course its the royal family thats at fault for you not having any work? bet your a tory or worse still a lib dem? I think he meant that if he took a day off for the wedding he wouldn't get paid for it because he's self employed.

MPH Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 im not a stand up and sing the anthem every time its played kind of person but i wouldnt join in a plot to kill them off either. They are harmless. Bring in more money from tourism to london than they cost anyway.
tartanowl Posted 17 March 2011 Posted 17 March 2011 No. They are no longer needed and past their sell by date.

I've never once been asked why i am visiting London and know no-one who has , and if asked the last reason I would give is " I've come to visit the Queen " Visitors would probably still go to royal palaces and castles etc as attractions , just as they do in other countries . The fact that there is an old woman sitting inside with a crown on would make very little difference if any to most visitors I'd say

The fact that there is an old woman sitting inside with a crown on would make very little difference if any to most visitors I'd say I think its mostly from foreign tourists than british based ones. went to london about 10 years ago for the first time as an adult. didnt get lost but wanted to clarify on directions... I had to ask 6 people before i found someone who could speak English, A monarchy is something alot of countries dont have. Especially one like ours that seems so detached from the people it almost makes them mysterious. I remember watching the Olympics last time round and a handball game came on. The Denmark team was playing and the camera panned to the crowed and focussed in on the danish queen was whooping and hollering and going crazy over every point scored. Was interviewed after the game ciggerette in hand and everything! Can't quite see our queen doing that.Over here in the states people are talking about the royal wedding everwhere i go,,, went to get my haircut. two FULLY GROWN MEN waiting for their hair to get cut were talking about it. I even got asked in a job interview yesterday ( addmitedly slightly tongue in cheek) what i thought of the royal wedding... all over the place here they are intrested in it. I personally like the idea of having a pretty princess wrather than one that looks like the back end of a bus *cough* camila *cough*. Even in Denmark they were asking about our royal family.. Israel... france asnd Belgium and Canada. Pretty much every country i have been to i have been asked about the royal family.

And what a pretty pass we have become if the greatest argument for the Royal Family is tourism. What have we become....a fooking peep show!!!

What have we become....a fooking peep show!!! . seems like some people will find any reason to have a dig at them. I havnt read up anything on just how many millions they bring from their charity work.. They might not be hands on people... cant imagine charlie sweeping any floors in a homless shelter for example but just having their name attached to charities brings money in. charity dinners they host ect where people spend a fair wack to have dinner with certain members happens often too... My nephew had a buisness plan he has put into action and has applied for funding from i THINK he said the duke of Edinborough award... all pretty small things really but every little helps, you know? Put it this way... i dont see any detriment to having them... but like i said in a previous post im not really a stand up and sing the anthem kind of person when its on... just see them as harmless really and even the small benefits of having them makes them worth sticking around....
l444ry Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 As the biggest tourist attraction in Britain, why don't we put the Queen is a zoo where people can see her? Advantages: Bring in rakes of tourists. Lets give them money, the goverment would only waste it if they got hold of it. We need someone to look up to (even if they do nothing important) Disadvantages: Why aren't they in a zoo, it would be easier for tourists to see them there. I can wave at people, can I be a king?
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 i get a day off work so it's all good! other than that i couldn't give 2 hoots

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 At last someone vaguely sensible i love the royal family because im not a traitor to my country
