hairy Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 I know they is a Royal Wedding topic already but I cant create a poll in that The general opinion at work is that people would rather work the day than have it deducted from their holiday entitlement. They say they are really not interested. So we are opening unless there is a last minute change to giving everyone the day off as an extra day. The people of Hull are not interested either BBC report Yet the papers (Mail and Express mainly) and media in general appear to be in a frenzy about the upcoming date. I remember the Silver Jubilee being a big event and the Charles and Di wedding bring Portugal to a halt for the day. Have the Royal Family lost their appeal here in the Uk? They certainly haven't in the States where there appears to be more excitment about the event. Or will the interest grow nearer the event in 6 weeks time?
Parafox Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Far more important/meaningful things happening to really be interested in anything that happens to these two. It feels like the occasion is being forced upon us just because they're "royal"
Alexikokopops Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 I get an extra day that doesn't eat into my holiday entitlement, so I'm happy about that. I might take a stroll into town to see what the fuss is about, although it's going to be so obscenely heaving that I might just take refuge in my little corner of North London

Simo86 Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 All i'm bothered about is the day off, which means i can go out on a thursday night and get cheap drinks without worrying about work on the friday
StanSP Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Revision will get me through my degree. Watching a wedding, will not get me through my degree. Think I know which one I'll be doing!
Wymsey Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Can easily watch it for 3-5 mins on the news at night. A royal Wedding won't change the world for good will it?
hairy Posted 16 March 2011 Author Posted 16 March 2011 Can easily watch it for 3-5 mins on the news at night. A royal Wedding won't change the world will it? The Angel Diana did (according to Daggers)
Fox You Forest Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Unless Kate Middleton is going nude, I won't be watching.
MikeyT Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 The Angel Diana did (according to Daggers) I watched her funeral. That's all i have watched regarding that lot. Can't be bothered with Queenies speech Christmas day either.
Webbo Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Although I started the royal wedding thread and I'm quite pro the monarchy I doubt that I'll be watching much of the actual wedding. If it's a nice day someone will probably be having a BBQ, I'm more likely to go to that.
Maybes Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Wont be celebrating the wedding but will be enjoying the day off. Yeeee
ousefox Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Will only be celebrating having the day off. Does not interest me in the slightest.
m00nie Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 i will try and catch some of it, glad a holiday has been given for it also as its the future king of england and we should celebrate our county more. .
Bellend Sebastian Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 The Angel Diana did (according to Daggers) 14 years she's been gone. It's been difficult, but I've been brave and just about got through it
The Doctor Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 not a chance - couldn't care less about the monarchy.
Jon the Hat Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 Might head up to London and enjoy the atmosphere.
hairy Posted 16 March 2011 Author Posted 16 March 2011 14 years she's been gone.
