Simmo86 Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Yeah L1 LcfcBugg. I'm right at the top of L1 right on the barrier which separates the away block

Kitchandro Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 Nowhere sadly but please don't be fooled in to thinking that is good. FFS stop being so cynical. The atmosphere in K and L is pretty damn good, certainly better than most away games I go to where most people tell you to sit down, and better than a lot of home atmpospheres these days, I often look around at away grounds and can see barely anyone singing, let alone hear them. http://www.youtube.com/user/lcfcstu#p/u/5/EpJcQ8YSX9s You're telling me that doesn't sound good? I think you're standards are too high in this day and age. If you're expecting flares and whole stands jumping up and down then you'll always be disappointed.
Unit Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 i may well swap for a place in the kop for a game or two the reminder of this season. possibly one with the fosse boys and one in sk3/4. I'll never knock anyone for wanting to make a noise but for a game like forest derby leeds at home or man city - though i kow we lost l block for that game- i really wouldnt want to be anywhere else...yet. alternitevely, why dont all the kop holders who like to sing try and get in l block for a game? Considering it, I'm renewing where I am already - back row in the kop - but I'm going to look into relocating over there. Any good? Getting a bit bored of the sour faces around me at the minute. The atmosphere in K and L is pretty damn good, certainly better than most away games I go to Love to see where you're going away...? Away games turd on home games by a mile.

If you're in the bottom half forget it.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 March 2011 Author Posted 23 March 2011 Unit- yes its very good when were winning and the away fans bring a big allocation its quality. Not so good when you get a porformance like against pompey as the dickheads become more evident. Im someone who believes if the players are playing badly they need us to give them a kick up the arse. A lot just wait and expect the players to do something to make us sing. Dont come to l block this season if theres nothing to play for! Cant be beaten on derby day tho. Weve had a pretty good deal out of it this season under sven
evs_the_fox Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 FFS stop being so cynical. No cynicism here, those videos were posted to show how good L Block was and on the majority you can hear individual voices – not the best advert for atmosphere. Away days > Home games all day long so that's a non-starter. http://www.youtube.com/user/lcfcstu#p/u/5/EpJcQ8YSX9s You're telling me that doesn't sound good? It's pretty good yeah, but we've just scored against Derby FFS, it's the least I'd expect! I think you're standards are too high in this day and age. If you're expecting flares and whole stands jumping up and down then you'll always be disappointed. I wasn't attending games on swaying terraces in the 70s and I'm not European so I expect neither of these things. You're right – with all the legislation etc. today then it's harder to get anything going – combine that with the general apathy towards making noise at the Walkers then you're fighting an uphill battle so fair play to anyone giving it a go. But if those videos are the best L Block has to offer then can we please stop passing comments such as 'it can't be beaten' – it can. *Disclaimer, I know you didn't say it can't be beaten but comments such as this have been said within this thread (and plenty of others) so please don't turn this in to a 'you-said-this-and-i-said-that' battle as that's not what I'm trying to do.
brioldkoppite Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 What a bunch of prima donna's - dont like this, dont like that as a very old koppite i would remind you that the idea is to support the team. In the old kop there were many factions but they all came together to support the team. One group would start one song and everyone join in. Then another would start Yes i miss the old songs- daisy, we dont carry razors, we will follow the city, san fransico, distant drums etc etc but the only way the younger guys will learn them is for them to be sung. This debate masks the real problem- the singers should all be together its the only way to make a real difference, the arguements about SK, fosse boys or L block simply has the effect of weakening our support . Has it all realy changed that much are we concerned mainly about where we stand/sit, what songs we sing and what is cool- or do we all just really want to support out team to victory. It about time all those little separate groups swallowed their pride, forgot their vanity and all agreed to be together. Believe me if the fosse boys and the SK boys joined L and K we would have among the best support in the division instead of a stadium where you cannot hear the kop ON THE PITCH or the fosse boys or L/K blocks
Merging Cultures Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 A quick question as I've not checked! Are the classic songs posted on this site anywhere or on YouTube? If not, it should be done. It would help keep them alive.

You are right I hear the sound of distant fans, over there (L1), and over there (Fosse Boys) And do they yell - don't know can't here them.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 March 2011 Author Posted 23 March 2011 When I said it cant be beaten I meant at the walkers. And no its not the best example of l block. I dont record everytime we get a good atmosphere
Merging Cultures Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 dur dur dur dur Matty Fryatt/Chris O'Grady Weale Weale Weale! All classics! ! Exactly! But to be honest, I am not the best person to ask!! Not lived in the UK for years and rarely am I able to make a live game... I have to follow online But it would be great to get some 'songsheets' up on the web for people to easily access and learn. This forum seems like as good a place as any. People could also post new songs in preparation for upcoming games. Also, from everyones comments, I wonder if the club would be interested in getting Jobber some drum lessons. I know it kinda defeats the object of 'organic' fan support, but they could pay a little for him to get some professional lessons and give him some guidance on getting the supporters going. If there was better coordination between the fans and the club, eg. dont play music after a goal or play a certain song important to the fans, I think the atmosphere would improve.
Halfsy Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 As already mentioned, there has been a lot of sense in this post, so here's my two pennies worth. I'm 21 now, and have been a season-ticket holder for about 15 years, even whilst studying at University in Brighton i hasten to add, and i was fortunate enough to have enjoyed standing (on my seat) on the back row of SK1 at Filbert Street when i was a kid. Obviously, we were flying high in the Premier League and were regularly at Wembley, which really helped the atmosphere. But there was something about Filbert Street, or any old ground for that matter, which enabled a much better atmosphere than at a generic, new ground. I can recall all of the old 'classic' songs being sung, such as Molly Malone, Once Upon a Time there was a Spion Kop and Score! Leicester Score! and they were taught to me by my Dad's mate in a pub. Me and my mate used to bang on the old wooden boards on the back row, and two older men next to us used to say to us, 'get it going then lads,' particularly for 'Martin O'Neill's Blue and White Army', which used to be sung for what seemed like ages. The problem nowadays, which you have correctly identified is that kids have been brought up on media like Green Street etc. as well as Soccer AM, and have been brainwashed into thinking acting like Danny Dyer is actually acceptable behaviour and a prerequisite at football grounds. No offence to the lads in L1, i have been there a couple of times and there are some good lads, but it is generally full of young kids who can't string a sentence together, let alone think of a song with more than two words in it. I stood there for the match against Sheffield United at home and one lad said when Mark Yeates scored, 'Who the fvck is he?' To which i replied, 'He used to play for us, mate,' and his response was, 'Well, i've never fvcking heard of him.' And that's largely the problem, their lack of intelligence about what they are actually watching. How can we expect them to understand where the club has come from and its history? Our songs nowadays are absolutely garbage, and unfortunately i rarely join in anymore, i would rather stand at the back of SK1 with my Dad and actually watch the game. The Sol Bamba chant every time he touches the ball is hideous and just illustrates how pathetic and unimaginative our home support has become, similarly the appalling Matty Fryatt chant we used to have in addition to Ring of Fire and i simply cannot stand the Carnival de Paris. It is just as bad as the goal music, why should we be brainwashed into reacting a certain way when a goal has gone in?

I'm exactly the same as you, 22 years old and a season ticket holder for as long as I can remember. You've pretty much summed up exactly what I feel. The lack of atmosphere and intelligence in L1 really does frustrate me as like you I was fortunate enough to experience the Kop at Filbert Street. (All be at as a young teen) but it was something special. From an early age I was always really keen to to learn all the songs that were sung at the football. I'd listen to the lyrics when at the games, and what I didn't pick up at the game I would learn from my dad. It's seems as if the people we are refering to in L1 have no interest in participating in songs with any lyrics or meaning to it., and are happy to simply clap along to the drum whilst singing the latest Youtube hit and giving it the fngers to the away fans!
m00nie Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 why do people keep using "green street" as if its some new thing at the ground.. where do you think the films originate from?? from the actual things that went in the filbert street etc days so its nothing new.. you always had this at football.. just the kop at filbert was all together and next to the away fans and the layout made the atmosphere louder.. when we had all the kop and the away fans had the east stand near us there used to be the line of our fans just standing at the edge way back then even.. you only have to take the away fans that come now, they are all in one place and when they sing they sing together so it can sound loud. our vocal fans are spread all over now and then with teh layout of the stadium also it loses some of the sound...
lcfc"weasel" Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Green Street makes what happens in James Bond look like a regular occurence.
Jodranadinho Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Top post Halfsy! I'm only 16 and I used to look over to L1 from the kop when I used to go with my dad and thought I'll be there one day. Couple years on, I went near L1 in K and was quite disappointed with it all.. a growing % of people going in L1 for the status. Now I'm in SK1 with the fosseboys and there's none of the green street influenced attitude, just a group of lads who don't stop for 90minutes! Chants wise, we sing the common songs such as ring of fire and oh when the blues, but were also bringing back the old ones like Molly Malone and Leicester score! Recently there seems to be a few disgruntled L1'ers who are fed up with the 'yoofs' and we want to bring back whatever we can from the old filbert street atmosphere and get the kop back. Come over to SK1 for a couple of games and come see if it suits you. I've seen a few fans commenting saying 'fosse boys look good, but we just can't hear them' Time for the numbers to grow and get the atmosphere back again!
