why do people keep using "green street" as if its some new thing at the ground.. where do you think the films originate from?? from the actual things that went in the filbert street etc days so its nothing new.. you always had this at football.. just the kop at filbert was all together and next to the away fans and the layout made the atmosphere louder.. when we had all the kop and the away fans had the east stand near us there used to be the line of our fans just standing at the edge way back then even..

you only have to take the away fans that come now, they are all in one place and when they sing they sing together so it can sound loud.

our vocal fans are spread all over now and then with teh layout of the stadium also it loses some of the sound...

As a Harvard graduate and former hobbit I echo these sentiments.

Top post Halfsy! I'm only 16 and I used to look over to L1 from the kop when I used to go with my dad and thought I'll be there one day. Couple years on, I went near L1 in K and was quite disappointed with it all.. a growing % of people going in L1 for the status. Now I'm in SK1 with the fosseboys and there's none of the green street influenced attitude, just a group of lads who don't stop for 90minutes! Chants wise, we sing the common songs such as ring of fire and oh when the blues, but were also bringing back the old ones like Molly Malone and Leicester score! Recently there seems to be a few disgruntled L1'ers who are fed up with the 'yoofs' and we want to bring back whatever we can from the old filbert street atmosphere and get the kop back. Come over to SK1 for a couple of games and come see if it suits you. I've seen a few fans commenting saying 'fosse boys look good, but we just can't hear them' Time for the numbers to grow and get the atmosphere back again!

What he said. If you're not satisfied with L1 at the moment just come and stand with us for one of the remaining games, what have you got to lose?

Im probably more intelligent than you though raj. There are some knobs in L1 but not many of them are above the age of 18. I wish we could get the lads in the kop and the fosse boys in l1 instead of the kids in there now.

As someone rightly said, theres too much competition- for want of a better word- between fans in l1 and the kop.

I remember, at filbert st especially, if we won a corner or free kick the whole stand would be chanting 'come on leicester' really getting behind the team. Nowadays you just get ring of fire continuously, or that bloody clapping thing when we get an attcking free kick.

To be honest though, its a sign of the times. Wembley is the same. Too many people go just to say they've been.

I don't know what can be done about it to be honest. There needs to be x number of people prepared to move and stand in for example the kop. I want the atmosphere back as much as the next fan.

Believe me that is nothing to boast about!

So be one of the first? Someone has to start it off. We have a good solid base of 20-30 lads going for it all game at the back of SK1, double that and numbers would snowball in my opinion. But it just needs a few lads fed up with L1 prepared to take the chance.

Im gonna mention it to the lads I go with. The thing is, and its a bit hypocritical, should I get a season ticket in the kop its sods law the atmosphere will be mint in l1. On a good day there nowhere else in the ground will beat l1. Being next to the away fans does usually give everyone an extra lift

I'm 15.

It's is not the age, but the mentality.

I'm fed up of being labelled a stupid little kid or "green street influenced" kid because of my age.

As Jodranadinho said, I also used to look over to L block and think I'll be there one day.

But as it happens I didn't really enjoy it, yeah it's fun being near the away fans, but to outsing them not to give witless banter.

Personally I'd love to move near the away fans just to show that our fans are not the embarrassment that I see of L/K now, of "give it the big un" then shut up when we are losing.

You go to a football game to support your team, so do it. Rather than throw banter from behind a police line, outsing the opposition fans whatever the score.

And if all those who contribute negative noise (boo's etc) actually sung, we would have the best atmosphere in the league.

Rant over.

Problem with moving to the Kop is that as soon as the club see the standing numbers start to grow they'll just clamp down on it.

IMO if anything there needs to be a reclaim L1 from the spotty yoofs campaign!

If we can get the more traditional supporters at the back of L1 singing proper Leicester songs hopefully it will start to filter down and improve things in there :dunno:

Molly Malone, Once Upon a Time there was a Spion Kop and Score! Leicester Score!

What were these like? Any videos?

Molly Malone is just the song that precedes duh duh duh... Leicester(Repeat)

Once upon a time I'm not 100% sure of the lyrics so someone else can do the honours.

Leicester Score is, so i'm led to believe, meant to be reserved for cup games but more often than not gets an airing at league games in SK1 now, it goes as follows:-

Leicester score!

Leicester score!

If you get one you'll get more,

We'll sing your assembly when we get to Wembley so score,

Leicester score!

Repeat.

No need to commit to getting a season ticket in the kop if you're worried about that. Renew in L1, then move your ticket temporarily to the kop for a couple of games at the ticket office. Its free to move it over & you'd be able to go back to your usual place in L1 if you didn't like it so you'd have nothing to lose. If you did like it you could move your season ticket over permanently. I can say for certain that there is plenty of space at the back of SK1 in the area I noted earlier in the thread. Not sure about further along the kop.

Obviously anyone moving over to the kop expecting a cauldron of atmosphere will be disappointed. But, if a few more people came over it would deffinitely improve further. Over where the Fosse Boys are it may not be that loud because numbers are quite small at the minute but the lads that are there go for it & certainly make decent noise for the number there are.

It might be a good idea for people that want to move over to SK1 for the odd game without moving their season ticket permanently, should earmark a game to come over all alltogether, rather than the odd one or two coming over on different weeks. Would be very interesting to see the atmosphere in L1 if this was the case.

I'd go as far as to say that THE MAJORITY of L1ers are retarded

But I'm in L1

Really is it anybody's business where other people sit? This fan snobbery really gets on my tits.

Think Raj is probably taking the piss to be honest.

It's rare that he posts much serious Webbo.

On the other side of the coin- why dont the fosse boys (though youd do well to get yourselves in as one group) and the lads in the kop get STs in l block. Then as you previously said, if its not to your liking then you can move back. I just think rightly or wrongly, its more appealing to be near the away fans, as you do get that extra bit of potential for atmosphere. Plus as someone said already, l1 is the main unofficial standing area. I wouldnt be sure how the stewards and club would react to having two unofficial bits. I mean you have to admit, the club are very good at accepting l1 for what it is.

I knew that. The second part of the post was aimed at the rest of the thread generally.

Don't give the club a choice, the stewards can't be arsed to make you sit down and when they ask it's with no real conviction, and a few minutes of ignoring the annoying voice to your side usually leads to them trooping down the stairs to await yet more ridiculous orders from Kevin.

Yeah, it is irritating.

I personally accept that there are many different types of supporter, I've moved to SK1 for my own reasons leaving L1 in the process but would I look down on L1ers because of it? No, there's no need. They've got their idea of a good time, I have mine. Horses for courses and all that.

Fair enough point. A fair few of the Fosse Boys came from L1 in the first place though so its not necessarily that they haven't given it a try. Personally I'm happy where I am in SK1. I've not got much to moan about so I've got no reason to move. My posts encouraging people from other parts of the ground to give SK1 a try were more aimed at people who had said they were getting fed up with where they are sitting at the moment & might be interested in moving somewhere else, not those people who are happy where they are, be it in L1 or anywhere else.

I have heard a few versions of 'Once upon a time' with differing lyrics which is not uncommon for some chants but here's what I would sing

Once upon a time there was a spoin kop

Where we used to throw a can or two

How we used to wyle away the hours

Following the boys in royal blue

Those were the days my friend

We took the Stretford End

We took the Den, the North Bank Highbury

We live the life we choose

We fight and never lose

Those were the days oh yes those were the days.
