The league is very weak compared to then . The 3 sides relegated this year must be the worst ever it will be different next year.

Recently, we've been a league one club with league one pulling power, post-administration finances and totally shit players.

Recently, we've been a league one club with league one pulling power, post-administration finances and totally shit players. Correct, bar the finances bit. We were skint the minute Adams took over. We have more pulling power now than we ever did during Adams' reign.

Donut Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 We had a decent team in that promotion season though, Dickov scoring goals, Muzzy, Scowcroft, Frank Sinclair, McKinlay these players, at the time, were good at that level. Plus, we had the 'bouncebackability' factor...........we started the season brilliantly at home winning 5, perhaps more games in a row at the Walkers. Teams always struggle when they cant make a positive start POST relegation. The more they become bogged down in the championship, the harder it becomes to get back up.

Back then the team we had (very strong) and the league was very weak and apart from Pompey we would have breezed it even more than we did... I'd have got us up that year, Championship Manager would have helped me no end

One thing I will take from this comment is the point about the relegated sides. It's very unusual for one or two of them not to be running away with it - next season if we're still in this Div, I'm sure it will be very different with Wigan, West Ham, Birmingham, Wolves & West Brom all capable of challenging for the the two automatic spots (plus Hull & Burnley will still be receiving money I believe so could strengthen on this year's finishing position) potentially leaving us with a hopeful playoff spot again
