darko2k7 Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 City head into their final seven games of the regular season with little room for error as they look to make up the seven points separating them from Reading in the final Championship play-off spot. Burnley are among the sides standing between the Foxes and a top six finish, while games against Nottingham Forest, Watford and the Royals themselves also give the men from Filbert Way a fighting chance. Without a home win in three, their last outing at the Walkers Stadium was a narrow 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth, where unconverted chances for Sven-Goran Eriksson's men proved critical. A 1-1 draw with Coventry and a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Norwich prior to that game complete a disappointing sequence City will be keen to improve on against the Clarets. They looked set for a second straight away win at Middlesbrough last Saturday when Yakubu completed a fine hat-trick to put them 3-1 to the good. But goals from Rhys Williams and Stephen McManus secured a hard-fought point for Boro late in the day. A red card for Jeff Bruma on that afternoon rules him out of the Burnley visit. At times brilliant and at times infuriating as they try to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt, Burnley boast a squad filled with talent that far from disgraced itself in the top flight last season. Since taking over from the sacked Brian Laws in January, talented young manager Eddie Howe has been trying to transfer the magic he used to steer Bournemouth into League 1 to ignite the Clarets' promotion charge. Six wins and two draws from his first nine games in charge suggested the impact could be immediate, but they have faltered of late and have taken just one point from the last 12 available. Beaten 2-1 at home by Ipswich last time out, they, like City, need to rediscover their form if they are to trouble the top six and will hope for some fireworks from the likes of Chris Eagles, Jay Rodriguez and Wade Elliott during the run-in. MattyFromLE Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Weale, vitor, bamba, mee, van aanholt, oakley, king, wellens, gallagher, kamara, yakubu. Subs:ricardo, moreno, howard, dyer, berner, abe, vassell Other than Oakley thats pretty solid!
Haydos Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Like the look of the defence on paper. Also glad that Gally retains his place ahead of Vassell. Haven't seen much of Oakley this season tbh so I can't really comment. Get the feeling people would rather Abe though.
sdb Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 I do love Sven, but having persevered with Vassell for so long, he then drops him after what i'm lead to believe was a very good showing at m'boro. Ah well, glad Vitor plays.
ajthefox Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Pleased with that, hopefully Weale can keep a clean sheet and cement #1 status. Probably would've played Abe but not too bothered Oakley is playing, he's been decent when I've seen him.
funkyrobot Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Oakley is due a good game at this level, I'm sure he played well, once, back in the day. 10 years back or so.
RizLCFC Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Is there a live stream for this one? Unfortunately can't make it to the Walkers today. I thought the Thai channel may be showing it?
Lillehamring Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 the way it's been this season, we'll win but then everybody else will win...
Lillehamring Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 by the way, am i right in thinking that a draw today and we're mathematically safe?
Lillehamring Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 The good thing is that everyone else can't win. ha, yeah, that was a dumb post from me...
VinceNoir Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 unusually quiet match thread! Any updates on how it's going?
FoxyPV Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Sounds like we're attacking well. C'mon Leicester. Reading 1 up at the City ground <_<
Haydos Posted 9 April 2011 Posted 9 April 2011 Anyone listening? In Sheffield so can't get radio commentary. Fooking Reading
