A thumping 4-0 win over Burnley at the weekend has given City renewed belief that a late charge for the play-offs could be on the cards and another three points on Tuesday night would give them valuable momentum going into the final five games.

Sven-Goran Eriksson's men performed with power and style at the weekend - edging in front through home debutant Diomansy Kamara, before cutting loose in the second half and putting the Clarets to the sword.

Kamara won a penalty for Paul Gallagher to make it two on 52 minutes, before Gallagher rifled in a third on 71. Patrick Van Aanholt surged forward from full-back to round off the scoring with a fine goal nine minutes from time.

With seven goals scored in their last two games, City have clearly rediscovered their shooting boots at the right time, but the fact that the clean sheet was only their second in nine highlights the need to retain defensive solidity.

With six games to go, City trail sixth-placed Leeds by five points and must also overtake Nottingham Forest and Millwall in their quest for a top-six spot.

Palace's form has been up and down since Dougie Freedman took over as manager in January, with five wins achieved, but each of them followed by a defeat as the Eagles fight to steer clear of the relegation dogfight.

Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town followed a 2-1 home win over Barnsley and has left them five points clear of S****horpe, but the Iron's impressive weekend win over leaders QPR will not have escaped their attention.

Former City loanee James Vaughan leads the Eagles scoring charts with nine goals since joining on loan from Everton in September and, having scored just once during his time with the Foxes, will return to the Walkers Stadium with something of a point to prove.

As well as Tuesday's trip to Filbert Way, Palace face a huge game at home to S****horpe on Saturday as well as tough fixtures against Leeds, Hull and Forest to close the season.

Have to win to keep on the pressure. Hopefully Derby can get a result against Leeds. If they lose and we win, 2 points with 5 games to go. A huge difference from 5 with 5 to go. If we lose I feel it's game over. My belief is that we need to win a bare minimum of 4 and draw 1 to make it, although that could definitely be 5 wins with so many other teams chasing right now. Let's carry on from Saturday and keep the belief. Right now i'm not expecting and i'm proud of what we've done this season. Great first year for Sven and can't wait to see what he does next year, whatever division we're in.

Another Gally brace will do nicely. Especially if it's a long-range lob too!

I think it'll be 3-0. Gally, Yakubu and Bamba :)

Gonna be a goal feast tonight. Palace are pretty crap defending and when was the last time we kept clean sheets in consecutive games?

Palace have the worst away record in the whole division:

P20 W1 D3 L16 F14 A43

So they concede 3 for every 1 they score and are only outside the relegation zone because of their strong home record.

Particularly after our last result, I'd expect them to stick 10 men behind the ball and hope for a counter-attack or set piece, while frustrating us.

So, a lot will depend on our lads approaching the game with pace, confidence and an attacking spirit right from the off - a strong start could make all the difference....hopefully not one of those frustrating first halfs of strolling around playing easy balls that they're sometimes prone to....

Yea the only thing is though, I can see them coming here and putting 11 men behind the ball

Shit I forgot about Iversen! Still have nightmares being at wembley and him scoring last minute :(

Except that was Allan Nielsen.

gonna be much tighter than some are predicting I think.

Burnley came here probably wanting to win whereas I'm sure Palace will be playing for a draw so will be difficult to break down.
