Happy Fox Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1382021/Swedish-wonderkid-John-Guidetti-snubs-new-deal-Manchester-City.html? Manchester City striker John Guidetti is to spark a scramble for his signature after rejecting a new contract. The Swede, 19, has scored 16 goals in 18 games for the reserves. He was loaned to Burnley this season and has attracted interest from Leicester City. He said: 'It's a good contract but simply not good enough. There are better alternatives. My contract expires this summer and then it's time to move.'
MPH Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Somebody get Sven on the phone! Would wet myself if we got him...
ajthefox Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 can't claim to know anything about him really but there was definitely speculation linking us to him in january as well.
sdb Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 How did he do at Burnley? Remember the speculation in Jan, sounded good but don't recall a major impact at Turf Moor?
Kitchandro Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 How did he do at Burnley? Remember the speculation in Jan, sounded good but don't recall a major impact at Turf Moor? I know I don't remember hearing his name at all. Edit: 5 games 1 goal according to wiki.
Brown Fox Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 I just remember that video of the stunner he scored then ran up to one of the opposition and screamed in his face ahaha don't have any idea what Burnley fans thought of him though?
rico Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 was he in the team that played against us when we beat them 4-0 ?
Guest Mee-9 Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Haven't we been linked with him hundreds of times before?
Brown Fox Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 was he in the team that played against us when we beat them 4-0 ? Nahh he went on loan in January for 5 games
LCFC94 Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 was he in the team that played against us when we beat them 4-0 ? No he was back at man city
Kingylcfc Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 yes please, a young striker who clearly knows what he wants, and rejecting man city is a big thing......sven do your thing and sign him up!!! :sge:
ajthefox Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 yes please, a young striker who clearly knows what he wants, and rejecting man city is a big thing......sven do your thing and sign him up!!! :sge: Which is money by the sounds of it..
21st Century Fox Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 Which is money by the sounds of it.. Surely if he was after just money, he wouldn't be expecting to pick up alot more from anywhere other than Man City. He sounds more like he's after money and first team football or first team football with the potential of more money. Love it if he came here, Sven needs to use some Swedish connections.
millzi Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 Can't say I know too much about the fella but with a record like that 16 in 18, I definitely wouldn't say no to that, even if he can get 16 in 30 I'll be happy!!
ta-fc Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 sounds a bit mercenary to me as there's no mention of playing more football it seems to be all about cash... Would also be inclined to question why Burnley didn't extend his loan?
Kitchandro Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 They seemed to be quite impressed: Burnley fans on Guidetti
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 Which is money by the sounds of it.. Just a thought but it COULD be that he fancies some first team football?
stix Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 I didnt see/hear much of him whilst he was at burnley but looks like they would take him back again so must of done something right. Seems to be confident in what he wants and to turn Man City down says a fair bit about him from both parties really. He must have a lot of potential if they want to keep him(they can buy any player in the world if they wanted) and for him to turn them down shows that he wants first team football. Would take him but would be a little concerned that he wouldnt become another Waggy....
JoeyB Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 Don't forget people if we signed him we wouldn't get him on a free transfer we would have to pay compo for him due to him being under 24 and man city have offered him a new contract which he has rejected............
Libertine Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 I remember the speculation but didn't Sven completely deny it outright at the time also? I remember him saying he'd no idea where it'd come from and it'd definitely not happen. Doesn't mean it won't happen now of course, but could just be rehashing old news by linking us again.

Good point... And the fee set can be substantial
ScouseFox Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 I still don't see anything being done about the defence, Sven. Guidetti, King, Maynard etc. but we need to sure up our defence. Anyway, don't know anything at all about the guy, fair play if he's rejected a contract from Man City to get some football though.

The cynic in me knows damn well that if he's rejected a contract that he knows exactly where he'll be going next season, or he's holding out for a better deal from man City..... hence 'The contract is good..... but not quite good enough' - Let's hope SVE has been meeting him for drinks and Swedish Jackanory.

Morning nick... I would agree and say that the cynic in you is most probably spot on in this case
