Unit Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Well hello there. Me and 23 others are going to vegas in a few weeks... We're going for 6 days, how much should I expect to spend? what should I see/do? etc etc
ajthefox Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I've been there but unfortunately only spent two nights, and they were actually split up so didn't get to see loads and can't advise you that much Apart from the obvious stuff like just going along the strip and looking at the hotels, I'd recommend the Hard Rock Café, some dead interesting memorabilia there.
Unit Posted 8 May 2011 Author Posted 8 May 2011 Watch The Hangover and you'll be fine. I think I watched your signature about 20 times before I realised it was repeating. Anyway, I will watch that in the next week if it's worth it? Yeah we're staying on the strip, we were at MGM but moved next door to save about half a grand!
Haydos Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Haha, just finished watching the hangover funnily enough. Not that it's really any relevance. Hope you have a week to remember though
LCFC OK Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Well hello there. Me and 23 others are going to vegas in a few weeks... We're going for 6 days, how much should I expect to spend? what should I see/do? etc etc It all depends on how much you gamble!
Guest ttfn Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Go for breakfast at the Bellagio if you can. Amazing all you can eat buffet - an unbelievable array of food.
Vacamion Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I've been 3 times... I found the rumours to be true - they do design the big casinos so that its difficult to find your way out and there are no clocks anywhere and they do pump oxygen in during the early hours to keep you awake and gambling. The streets are full of people offering you cards with escort girls' contact details on - don't make eye contact, they'll take this as a sign you want a card. If you do want a card, then I suppose eye-contact is OK... I get the feeling that many Americans from elsewhere in the USA where morals are stricter use Vegas as a place to let their hair down (just like "The Hangover"). You will see crowds of young Yanks walking about the streets sipping on long cocktails looking bleary eyed, snogging each other etc. - Have a go on the rollercoaster at New York New York - Go looking for the canal at the Venetian - Start at the Luxor and work your way back down the Strip, having a drink and a little gamble in each casino... we made it down to the Strat but were in a bit of a mess. - Smokers can smoke indoors whilst drinking and gambling. I- f you sit gambling in most of the casinos, they will bring you complimentary drinks, you just tip the waitress $1 or two. - don't order the metal bottles of beer - after a while they'll mess up your lips Even if you just stay on the Strip there is enough to see and do. If you want to keep the gambling low key, you can play the slots and the video poker - you feed banknotes in, you get credits, you get a credit note out, which you can take to the cashier to cash in. If you play poker there are sit and gos for all levels in the casinos on the strip. I went to a "Locals" casino on the outskirts of Vegas and played a tourney with a $12 entry where the beers were $1 each. Unless you are dripping with cash, the roulette will rape you in most of the big casinos - there are minimum stakes per spin. Despite the instruction video in our hotel room, I couldn't get my head around the game of craps and so didn't bother to try and learn it or play it. Have fun!
acooling08 Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Well hello there. Me and 23 others are going to vegas in a few weeks... We're going for 6 days, how much should I expect to spend? what should I see/do? etc etc There are many many prostitutes in Vegas. Have fun
Head Honcho Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Part of the MGM complex and a must do, try and go when there is a half decent DJ on. http://wetrepublic.com/
Soar Fox Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 I'm going at the end of august for 6 nights with 15 friends can't bloody wait.
Babylon Posted 9 May 2011 Posted 9 May 2011 Hated the place, not somewhere to go with the Mrs that's for sure IMO.
Simmo86 Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 I went 2 years ago. Brilliant place, money wise I took a grand for a week and it just about lasted me. That included poker, eating, UFC fight, nights out taxis etc. Bit of advice for when your going on nights out dress smart (no trainers) and try and pay the bouncers a bit of money on the doors to get you in, otherwise you'll end up queing for hours. The best clubs I went to were XS @ Encore , Tao @ Bellagio and Jet @ Mirage with a special mention to the Playboy club at the top of the Palms. Take your ID everywhere because they're seriously strict with age! Things to do other than the obvious.....go on the rides at the top of the stratosphere tower, pool parties at different hotels in the day, grand crayon, helicopter tours and I used to like just walking round all the different hotels. You'll love it, can't wait till I can afford to go back again!
Legend_in_blue Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Vegas is a great place to be. For no more than three days. There's so much more on offer if you pick up a car and drive. If you want a real taste of America that's what you should do. Take a car out of Vegas, do the Hoover Dam, drive to Kingman, do some of Route 66, visit Oatman and drive back. If you have more time do the old route 66 through to Seligman and take the interstate back. Sure, it's a long drive but you ain't seen America unless you drive. Vegas as I said at the top is great, but there's so much more to the US than Vegas. Almost forgot, make sure you do a fly-over of the Grand Canyon. That is truly spectacular.
Jon the Hat Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Hated the place, not somewhere to go with the Mrs that's for sure IMO. Unless she is into hookers I think you are correct.
Dr The Singh Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Well hello there. Me and 23 others are going to vegas in a few weeks... We're going for 6 days, how much should I expect to spend? what should I see/do? etc etc Just go back from there this morning for my brothers stag. Crazy place. If you want to party, then PM and i'll give you some leads. With 23 of you, your better getting Limo's to transport, it will be cheaper, and for clubs, make sure you get hooked up with a proper host, and go VIP, it will be cheaper, the more of you the cheaper it gets. Don't behave like twats, vegas is not europe and they will not tolerate cuntish british behaviour, play it cool and be upfront about what you want from the ladies you meet. Look at this way, we never got a chance to go strip club, nor did we need to, ladies (not hookers)are on tap 24/7 and very open, they are there to party and have 'fun'!! Tip the right people and you will be looked after, we got upgraded to $5000 tables next to Floyd Mayweather one time, another club Paquio, every club will have famous fookers and the best looking poon Moneywise, I spend around £400 a day, but we did go all out.

goose2010 Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 I was in Vegas this time last year, one thing i will say it is HOT your looking at over 35 degrees for 14 hours of the day. The good thing about that is every casino's air conditioning is set the same and it is a bit strange working in from 40 degree heat to about 15 degrees alot of people get ill from it so just be aware of that......one hotel i would recommend which i think a few wouldnt is the Sarha dont get me wrong it i s a bit dated but if you are on a budget and want to play the tables then it is a great place to go $1 blackjack is always a laugh and i would say the cheapest way to a have a few beers in vegas as it is all free whilst your playing! while your in the sarha as well go to the nascar cafe if there are any big eaters out there try the 8lb burrito challenge (if you have seen man vs food before you will know what it is) all i can say is ITS AWESOME i for one tried it and dont mind saying that i failed! if you can (may be worth splitting into smaller groups go to the belliago and play there video poker at the bars whilst playing basically hit there cocktail menu some of them on there are amazing but your looking at about $20 a go but if you are playing video poker then you will drink for free. The people out thier are so friendly but like someone else said take ID everywhere, i got refused in margerittavile (i'm 27) with my driving license they will only accept passports which is a bit of a pain as you dont want to be carrying them around with you. Regarding the grand canyon i would say do it but you are looking about £200 if you fly £300 if you helicopter and about £70 if you go on the bus (this takes about 20 hours) there is loads of places selling the trips so try and knock them down a bit on price. If you want to see a show always use the 'tixs for less' kiosks they have some absolute bargains we went to see the blue man group (well worth it) and it was about $50 cheaper using 'tix's for less' then buying them from the box office. AND one last thing if you again like your food go to the world buffet at the rio....the rio is off the strip slightly but there are shuttle buses running from Paris it is amazing we all had to wait for about 50minutes but it is worth it! any way i will stop reminiscing about the best holiday i have every had! if you want to know any thing else let me know! enjoy your hols!
