Naughton

I carnt work out how some people think Naughton is only worth 2or3M spurs bought him and Walker for 8or9M from Sheff Utd and my friend whos a sheff fan has been with me to three games this season and says Naughton looks better than he did when he was there so i would doubt they would take less than they paid for him.

I agree.. 2 or 3 million would be mental money.... A prem team will bag him imo..

I'd pay that, especially if the owners have set a limitless budget.

no, sven said that 'no limit had been set' not that the budget was limitless - which i would interpret to mean that there will be a limit on how much he can spend but that limit has not yet been determined.

Naughtons a great player, and he was arguably our best player last season, but i wouldn`t pay more than 2.5 million.

He`s fantastic going forward, but still needs some work defensively, and i`ve no doubt will he will improve, but he`s not the finished article yet.

I do think one of the problems we`re going to have, is that every club and player we`re going to be dealing with, are going to think we`re minted, and so will ask us to pay over the odds.

Headlines in the media like, "Svens got unlimited funds", really do not help!

The problem is though young good English players are hard to come by and I can guarantee that if we do not pay £4-5m then somebody else will. There is no chance that Spurs will have to drop the price.

This will be a massive mistake if we dont put in a decent offer for him. £4million and we could have a very very good player in the right back position for years and never have to worry about it. Seriously, should make him number one priority. Would take pretty much everyone on that list of players Spurs are willing to sell, but as has been said before, half the prem will be sniffing around the majority.

Id pay £3m for Naughts, Quality RB/LB who could easily do a job as a attacking RM/LM......Would be worth every penny!

Couple of mill up front, couple of mill in add-ons when we get to the Prem/appearances/England call-ups etc.. Simples.

Exactly.

They paid 6-7 for him and he has improved, I cannot believe how many people have been banding around 3 or 4 million as a figure Spurs would accept!

Here's a different way to look at it, imagine we actually owned him last season, came through our ranks, 20 years old, player of the season.

How much are you willing to let him go for? I dont think many would be saying less than £6million......and Spurs wont either.

exactly. look at it in the same way heskey was for us. silly money was paid for him. id pay 5mil anyday for naughton. if we go up and then stay up with him being a major player for us then the england call ups will come and his price rockets

Spurs paid £8m for Naughton and Walker, where Walker was valued much higher. They definitely did not pay £6-7m ( where did you get that from ????? ), for Naughton on his own!

Naughton's maximum valuation then was ( maybe as much as ) £3.5m. We have had him on loan for nearly a year, the time remaining on his contract with Spurs has reduced, therefore we would be seen as a bunch of 'easy to con chumps' if we paid more than £3m.

Furthermore, now that it looks as though Warnock will not be at QPR, I don't believe any Prem club will be prepared to pay any more than us for Kyle Naughton.

I think we could get him even if it's back on loan, with an option to buy if we get promoted.

Pretty much his only friend on the board resigned yesterday. So the speculation is that they will get rid for somebody more high profile!

Bit stupid really!

there is something of a power struggle reported to be going on at QPR ATM and the pro- Warnock faction are not in the ascendancy according to some of the morning papers . Some of the board want a fancy foreign manager instead of plucky Colin to navigate the choppy waters of the premiership- this may be the reference

Fair enough. Think they'd be stupid to get rid of him to be honest. If anyone can grind out survival he can.

I don't think much more can be said on this subject. He's still going to have premiership interest. Whether we can compete with that remains to be seen. It's got past the point where people are giving opinions now and are speculating on absolutely nothing.

- We don't know how much interest he will garner.

- We don't know how big a team this will inevitably come from.

- We don't know how much bids will be for him (it's likely to be auction-style rather than clubs meeting valuations as they want to let him go)

- We don't know how much money will be available to compete with rival bids.

- We don't know if he'd take a back up role for a Prem team over a starting berth for us.

- We don't know what wages he'd ask for.

My guess Ancelloti to QPR ( 'cos they got money ) and Warnock to West Ham ( 'cos they ain't got money ). Simple deduction my dear Watson. Also Carlo has been linked already because the vice chairman and main supporter for Warnock has resigned from QPR's board.

That's actually a really good point. If other teams saw our first summer signing was £4M for Naughton then they'd definitely raise the prices of our targets!

With respect, does that mean we should close down this site, because this list applies to every element of the conjecture we discuss in any of our thoughts on potential transfers?

Apologies, I vaguely remember reading it was 8 for the 2 and that was 6 for KN and 2 for KW.....not sure if it was ever officially released what it actually was.

No, I mean with regards to this topic. It's been done to death and whatever is said now ill have already have been said 5 or 6 times already.

Ergh, I'm just being cynical 'cause I'm bored of it :P

I know what you mean. We are all waiting and nothing is happening. We all need something exciting to happen.

I doubt the actual figure for each player was released so you will never know who cost more so it is pointless arguing the case. The only thing i can remember reading was that it was a combined fee for the two.

Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson has admitted it will be difficult to sign Kyle Naughton on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old right-back joined the Foxes on loan from Tottenham in October and went on to produce a series of impressive performances.

Eriksson has made no secret of his desire to keep Naughton but fears Spurs may price the youngster out of Leicester's range.

He will continue to monitor the situation before making a final decision, telling Radio Leicester: "It's possible to take Kyle but he is extremely expensive.

"The club wants too much money for a defender but of course, he is a great football player. We'll see."

Meanwhile, former Foxes striker Ashley Chambers has signed a permanent contract with York City following a successful loan spell with the Minstermen.

The 21-year-old became Leicester's youngest ever player when he made his debut aged just 15 in 2005 but was released earlier this month.

The news today is that Villa are likely to offer Ancelloti the manager job due to the ongoing illness of there current gaffer (Houliier)
