This is getting absolutely ridiculous. lol

I dread to think who we'll be going in for if we do get promoted. I think Messi would look good in royal blue.

Is he actually good or is he just another over priced English player? 4 million seems too much for a player who hasn't played above championship level.

Trust me he's young, captain of Reading he's definitely worth 4 Million!

This just highlights that we have dough. £4 million on Mills, £3 million on CMS and the same again for Maynard if he's available that's on top of the 4-5 other players we need and what we've already bought. Sven and Top mean business. Dare we dream yet?

I knew they would throw a bit of lolly at it, but I never thought it would be this amount. The numbers we're seemingly willing to spend are huge.

I'm also really happy with the recruiting policy, either up and coming players, those already in their prime.

Love it.

Wolves face rival in Matt Mills move

Thursday 30th June 2011, 12:38PM BST.

Wolves still remain favourites for Reading defender Matt Mills – but they have been joined by Championship club Leicester in the bidding.

Reading director of football Nicky Hammond returned to his desk from Mauritius today to hear the Foxes have matched Wolves’ take-it-or-leave-it £3million-plus offer for the 24-year-old.

Stoke are also interested but only if they fail to land Birmingham defender Scott Dann, after having a joint £16million bid rejected for him and Cameron Jerome.

Reading manager Brian McDermott today revealed for the first time that his club have rejected Wolves’ bid for Mills.

McDermott said: “We’ve had an offer from Wolves which was turned down. It was way off our valuation. I don’t know if they will come back for more.

“They may do but I don’t want to encourage clubs to bid for our players.”

If Wolves do get trumped at this late stage, they will move on to the two or three other irons in the fire.

Richard Dunne, Matthew Upson, Jonny Evans and Sebastien Bassong are other names who have been discussed.

Dunne and Evans have long been admired by Wolves manager Mick McCarthy, but he has never in a position able to sign them before.

McCarthy will also move for a left-back and another midfielder before the start of the season.

Arsenal’s attacking schemer Henri Lansbury, who scored four goals in 23 games to help Norwich to the Premier League last season, is on their radar.

Wolves also retain an interest in Blackpool’s out-of-contract midfielder David Vaughan, but Albion and Sunderland remain the favourites.

They say we have only matched Wolves rejected bid -but if Bert says we have matched Reading's valuation and have had a bid accepted, i believe him.

The other vial bit in that is the reference to the Stoke interest,........

Was Matt Mills at Man City under Sven?

He was indeed.

Didn't realise he was only 24, wow! Love signing all these players that are pre-30's with so many years ahead of them. I like the thought of building a solid team that will play together for years to come. One can only dream

they rejected 16 mill for dann and jerome! jerome is worth about 2 bob

Agreed, i was gobsmacked when i saw that £16 mill was for the pair of them.

I believe Mills is exactly what we need in our defence, imo he is worth the 4M mark, possibly more. This is very exciting but I cant see us beating Wolves to the signing.

Why not? Apart from them being a top flight side. They will probably go down next season, we have got better support than them and more fans, better manager under Sven he's been under Sven at Man City. And he would also get better wages and a regular first team place, unlikely he would at Wolves.

Don't you find it funny that Sven is signing/signed/apparently interested in signing all these players he had at Man City that he hardly played.. Darius Vassell, Kasper Schmeichel, Ben Mee, Ched Evans, Matt Mills...

(I know Vassell played a lot of games for Man City, but just saying)

I can only say Sven will get those hee want´s and perhaps not Mills we will see!

Many good players in Mexico, Ivory.....and you know where he has been and seen!

SO IN SVEN I TRUST :scarf:

They were all young back then, obviously he wasn't going to choose 16-18 year old English players over mid twenties international players.

Those three were young lads and the other two were featured in quite a lot of the games under him. So I guess he just rates them more highly than what else is available.
