Matt Mills - SIGNED

Leicester are set to rival Wolves for the signature of Reading defender Matt Mills, skysports.com understands.

The ambitious Foxes hope to earn promotion to the Premier League next season and have already recruited Kasper Schmeichel from Leeds, Neil Danns from Crystal Palace and Lee Peltier from Huddersfield Town.

Tsepo Masilela will also complete a loan move to the Walkers Stadium once he receives clearance for a work permit, but boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has not yet finished his summer signings.

Mills is also understood to be on the former England manager's list of targets and Leicester could approach Championship rivals Reading, who suffered defeat in the play-off final last season.

The Royals have already rejected two bids from Premier League Wolves and are understood to value the centre-back at £4million.

It is unlikely that they will sell for anything less than that fee and Wolves chairman Jez Moxey has hinted that his club could look elsewhere.

Leicester may take advantage, but skysports.com also reported last week that Reading hoped to convince Mills to sign a new contract.

If Mills, Maynard and Mackail-Smith all sign, two things will happen.

One: Our summer signings list will sound like a particularly alliterative firm of solicitors.

Two: We'll need a boat to get to the Ricoh Arena on the opening day as the M69 turns into a river of tears from Coventry, and possibly semen from Leicester.

Seriously though, he'd be an excellent signing. Not sure I could countenance another £4m on a defender though if it means sacrificing a striker.

I don't think Coventry have enough fans to even manage that.

Would be very happy with this. I rate him alongside Ashley Williams as the best in the division.

Could've sworn Williams is still at Swansea and therefore in the Premier..

Really cant see us paying that kind of money but if we were to get him id have to have a little tug :)

I would rather we spent that much on him than any of the strikers mentioned. By far and away the best cb in the league imo. I would be suprised if he would want to come to us as there would be more than just Wolves after his signature from the Prem.

Would be a fantastic coup if we could pull it off and show the rest of the division we mean business!!
