dave the caveman Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 You could easily end up with a £20m+ wage bill after paying all these players lower PL wages and then what if you don't manage to get up this season. Are your owners going to bankroll that wage bill for another 12 months whilst paying even more transfer fees and wages for the next season? It's a risky strategy, especially without any parachute payments. Well everything carries some degree of risk. Whether you'd call this strategy particularly risky depends entirely upon how much money the owners have to spend. Since none of us know and aren't likely to be able to find out, it's impossible to say for sure that we're taking large risks. For all we know, the owners could be prepared to bankroll this kind of spending for several years.
ballso Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 anyone seen the news bar thing on ssn, says that stoke have now made an approach for him. apologies if mentioned already.
cc_star Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 If we don't go up, the Thai's can't desert us, their financially bound to our success, or lack thereof. They're rumoured to have paid over £30m to Manderic, there was an ongoing cost of £10m pumped in last season which they exceeded they're obviously splashing the cash in the form of incentives to get quality players to join us despite us being the Champs, which means paying a bit more than the Prem clubs where players would find it easier to gain spin-off earnings & sponsorships If they wanted to off load us, no one would take these wage commitments on we'd be practically worthless. Their success is bound to our success, if they want their money back or more they have to get us up & preferably keep us there for a year, by which point they won't want to sell us. If the worst does happen and they've pulled some massive creative accounting scam through a pyramid of lending companies and we go bankrupt? League 1 wasn't so bad, was it?
ithuriel Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 To be honest i'd rather have these owners who have put the effort in , in the short time they have been here and they passed the new rules for owners checklist too. I think they would only bail on us if six years down the line we are still trying to get out of this division which would mean they have failed badly and i can't see that happening. You look at some clubs and their owners these days and you wonder how they managed to get their hands on these clubs in the first place,
trueblueju Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 Do we think the Heskey signing is now dead in the water ?
Candidcamera Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 Matt Mills reminds me of Matty Elliot - let's hope we can get him.
Nick Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 Personally I think if he doesn't come now he'll arrive on loan in January.
artursteppe Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 Personally I think if he doesn't come now he'll arrive on loan in January. That sounds bizarre to me. If he doesn't come to us, it will be because Stoke or Wolves or another Prem club will have bought him, so how would we get him in January???

LeeTheFox Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 I hope wolves and stoke think that 4mil is abit to much for a defender who might not get first team football!
