Jay Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 well done Dave but it's nothing new really, bands are always looking out for their fans. The flaming Lips stopped a song at Alexandra Palace the other week so a fan in the crowd could get some help. And as for fighting Frank from Gallows did it the other year at Rock City with slightly less tact!! after 1min20
sdb Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Haha amazing. Top bloke, although his bands are all overrated.
The Doctor Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Love it. That one posted by Jay though is, quite frankly, brilliant.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Haha amazing. Top bloke, although his bands are all overrated. 1. he only has one band what is actually his. 2. Foo fighters are awesome and are NOT overrated...just saying...
The Doctor Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 1. he only has one band what is actually his. 2. Foo fighters are awesome and are NOT overrated...just saying... you didn't notice the smiley at the end of the post then?

sdb Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 1. he only has one band what is actually his. 2. Foo fighters are awesome and are NOT overrated...just saying... Your grammar is so poor. And no, Foo Fighters are overrated...just saying. And maybe I should rephrase, 'every band he's ever been a part of', are overrated. Not bad. Overrated.

Nirvana?
shen Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Oh i'm sorry if I dont put effort in my grammar online...also how are they all overrated? Nirvana? In my opinion Nirvana are quite overrated yes. But that is nearly entirely down to Kurt Cobain. I'm sure that had he lived today the hype, especially seen nowadays, would never have reached those heights. Again, Foo Fighters as decent as they are, are nothing extraordinary.
ozleicester Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Gallows Theres a lot of mouth... with apparently not a lot to back it up
sdb Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Oh i'm sorry if I dont put effort in my grammar online...also how are they all overrated? Nirvana? How are they overrated? By people thinking they're better than they are/were. Yes, Nirvana are overrated. Definitely.
ozleicester Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 How are they overrated? By people thinking they're better than they are/were. Yes, Nirvana are overrated. Definitely. Time and place, these guys were at the forefront of the change of music (heroes to me, they saved me from the electro crap that was dominating). Some of the stuff they gave us was genius, every band can be considered overrated. Let me commit the ultimate crime... The beatles were overrated! Their early stuff was bubble gum pop, some of their later stuff was self indulgent crap. Mixed amongst it all were some moments of pure genius.... it was about the time and the world, as it is for any band.
Libertine Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 The overrated arguments... Music is music, opinions are opinions. Stating something like that as fact is retarded, and getting arsey about it is equally.

Foo Fighters are a great band who sell out EVERYWHERE they go and have many hits. 2. Nirvana were one of the best bands in there time and would of gone very far if it hadnt of been for Kurt Cobain not happy with all the fame. So, you say Foo Fighters and Nirvana are overrated...who are your favorite bands then?

Mixed amongst it all were some moments of pure genius.... it was about the time and the world, as it is for any band. I have nothing against people saying Beatles are overrated. The phenomenon was probably far larger than the musical talent warranted. Then again, it is very easy to say that bands with huge success are overrated. The overrated arguments... Music is music, opinions are opinions. Stating something like that as fact is retarded, and getting arsey about it is equally. But stating them as opinions is fine isn't it? I'm just tired of a band like Nirvana being highlighted as the 'saviors' of rock in the 90's, as the eponymous rock band of that period, as the grandfathers of 'grunge' etc etc, which is mainly down to their mainstream success and general ignorance of people who have limited insight. I could list quite a few bands that were equally or less successful and who also served as major inspirations for current generations of rock musicians. I'm not saying they weren't a very good band, but they have been built up to be something they weren't, again, in my opinion.

So, you say Foo Fighters and Nirvana are overrated...who are your favorite bands then? This will sound insensitive but if Cobain hadn't died, there popularity would be far lower. No doubt about it. As for selling out, so what? N'Dubz sell out everywhere. Even as a conforming 15 year old surely you appreciate that album/gig sales mean diddly? My fave bands/Artists as you're so interested: Ash Kinks Bowie Marvin Gaye Kasabian Bloc Party Kanye Shins Off the top of my head. Before you get your Y-fronts in a tangle, they're my favourite. I'm not claiming they're under/overrated, the best or whatever. To conclude, Nirvana and Foo Fighters are overrated. If Cobain was alive, Nirvana would be far less popular. If a man from Cobain's band wasn't now the front man for another band (i.e. Grohl in FF), they also would not be as popular. Cheers. x

I'm not saying they weren't a very good band, but they have been built up to be something they weren't, again, in my opinion. Course. It's a fair point, I agree they probably wouldn't mean as much today were it not for the way they ended. And despite being a big Foo fan, I recognise that they're nothing 'groundbreaking' in terms of originality etc. Just don't agree with statements like 'they're overrated because they're not as good as people say they are', as if there's some kind of factual level of quality. But again you can apply it to any musician really, especially ones that get labelled as a genius or whatever. Can't we all just hug and be friends?

If a man from Cobain's band wasn't now the front man for another band (i.e. Grohl in FF), they also would not be as popular. Cheers. x That isnt true. They were big enough in the first place, and really its irrelevant that Cobain is dead, people hear the music today and like it. Just because he is dead doesnt mean they are rated any higer really. It just leaves a lot of questions as they went out at the top of their game, like 'what would they have been like in years to come?' Also Nirvana were on the verge of splitting up anyway when he died due to friction between the members over Cobain's drug use and dislike of his wife. So if he hadnt have died, and they had split up, would the be any less popular really? Lots of newer Nirvana fans discovered Foo's first and then heard Nirvana after following the Grohl connection. The fact Grohl was in Nirvana though, I agree did help Foo's gain fans before they had even started really due to lots being Nirvana fans. But I bet there are also a lot of fans who listen to Foos without listening to Nirvana at all and considering them a favourite. To say they are both overrated I think is a bit untrue, though its all opinion.
Jay Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 so why do they run in circles? becuase they are technically called circle pits not mosh pits, old school hardcore style. some bands like Sick of it All have what they call the wall of death in theior gigs as well like this! remember number one rule of the circle pits, if anyone goes down you pick em bacj up!
