  1. 1. Would it be a terrible shame on the fans failling to sell out our first competitive match of the season, but selling out to Real Madrid?

Wow how can people not be interested in seeing Real ? I'm 90% sure this will be the only time i will get to see live, some of the best and in some cases best players ever to kick a ball in the world.

I don't consider myself plastic as i know how much l truly love leicester even tho I only get to 5-6 games a year due the money involved in going. Iam how ever always not matter where i am listening to the games. I think to classify a plastic fan just in turms of the amount or even if any games they go to is harsh as there is so much more involved in supporting this great club of ours than that IMO.

Depends how much effort you want to make, I wanted to make sure I had seen this great Barca side so I spent £300 a couple of years ago flying there to watch them.

It's not that hard. This summer I have paid for a few tickets to the test series, had money taken out for the Olympics, will be going to the T20 quarter and Cov away on the same day.

A friendly match really isnt high on the list of priorities. I might have made the effort if Messi etc were turning up, but this lot arent even the best in their own country. A shit Barcelona.

Yea doing that is ok for some but there is no way i could afford that . maybe when i was youg free and single but now i'm a single dad to a little one with serious heart problems so these types of games are my only chance for this price .

Oh yea of little faith.

We get to see the greatest players in the world every week at the Walkers (sorry, KP) - they're the guys wearing blue and white.

When we're in the Premiership you'll see more of the best players in the world week after week.

Real Madrid are just an unimportant blip on the route.

For the record in my OP I did say people for whom the RM match would be their only game as the plastics. I fully understand the cost and can rarely get to more than 5-6 games a season myself.

Sad to see that so many people don't think it's a shame people won't be supporting us for proper matches. :(

Sounds like I'm in the minority here, but I think we'll be pushing 30 000 for the Reading game. Theres more optimism than any season I can remember this pre season, and that'l be the first chance we get to see of any competitive action.

Agree,we shud get 30,000 or very close. The city is buzzing.Never in 25 years of being a city fan can i remember being soooo up for the season to start. Its what every fan in the land dreams of,having a chairman who back your club and pumps cash into it.Enjoy the ride people its gonna be fun i think.

really?

Do you not remember the season's 10-12 years ago where we were going into it looking forward to UEFA Cup draws to see where we were flying to? :S

Be going to all the games in August in the league. And the Real friendly.

Dont think we will be near to selling out for Reading, but if we win at Cov it will certainly do no harm to the attendance. I'd be disappointed with any less than 6k.

So we've sold out to Real; great. But how many people will be there as the only game they will see all season? How many will have paid for that ticket sacrificing money that might have otherwise paid for a ticket to the Reading match?

I know it's not as glamourous... but in terms of importance, it's 1000% ahead! Surely this will show us how many plastics went to see RM. By plastics I do indeed mean the people for whom this will be their only match all year.

And when I say went to see RM I mean that - they don't go to see City, but that's who I go to see.

So yes, I think it will be a crying shame if we don't sell-out the Reading game. We've proven that there's enough people who can afford it, but somehow I don't think we will.

I hope I'm proved wrong.

Very interesting!

I am a ST holder but because of my job and family commitments at this time of year I had to make the decision to see RM or Reading as I am unable to make both, this was easy for me and whoever we were playing it would always be the league match everytime!

i voted no the real madrid game is for the specific task to bring in fans befor the start of the season and if city put on a good performence i think it will encourage others during the season.

I'm in Lincoln and know quite a few who are going to the Real match to see Real Madrid. Leicester are just the hosts of a Spanish show piece really. If I could afford to go to a match this month, I'd like to go to a league match as there is so much more riding on it...to be fair, the main thing that would cause me to pay out for the Real match is to see the world-stars in the Real team.

Will be listening on the radio though, as with every other match I'm available for!

Well that was constructive. Well done

The Real Madrid game isn't just for fans of Leicester though, it's for fans of football. RM are one of the top teams in the world (second best I personally think) and even though I'm not going ('cus I'm in France) I can't begrudge anyone who chooses to see their local team face RM, a top team that we might not ever play in the next decade, that over a game against coventry, who they may well have seen Leicester play against many times before. I wish people would stop moaning "omz plastics"; at the end of the day, seeing a football team is a leisure activity, and if they prefer spending their hard earned money seeing Leicester face Real Madrid rather then Bristol or Barnsley then fair enough.

People go to football matches for different reasons. Doesn't matter if they are "plastic" or part-time fans or whatever, their money is still going to LCFC, so stop complaining. If they were glory supporters, they'd be supporting Man U. So well done, you're all "better" fans then everyone else - now stop this self-righteous crusade.

Are you a plastic fan if you cant afford tickets to games or the money is needed for kids, bils rent etc?

Don't worry about it Royston

By any way of calculation, I must now be considered a "plastic fan" ( whatever it means ) even though i 've supported city in body spirit for well over 40 years

All it means is you've got a life that doesn't revolve around knowing every minor detail about the club and the players ;)

spend your money on the kids

Do you purchase a gold-plated pogo stick and reside and the finest Travel Taverns money can buy for each trip?

Its all money going to the club, if people only come to this one game I don't mind, its their choice what they prioritise their money on and its going to be a great atmosphere. Let's just enjoy it and stop worrying about other people.Rather have them as plastic fans for our club rather than Forest or anyone else!

I can't believe that "supporters" of Leicester City would rather choose to see Real Madrid in an exhibition match than a proper game that means something.

We won't sell out for probably any home game this season, unless we draw a big team in the cup or have the chance to win the league at home. There'll surely be a lot of people going just to see Madrid who aren't even Leicester fans so it's not a big deal if we don't sell out. As long as there's a decent crowd there all season i'll be happy.

I couldn't seeing us selling out reading regardless of whether playing Madrid or not. It could even go the other way if we perform well, might get a few part time fans excited for the season ahead and sell a few more tickets.
