Let's hope he feels the same about LCFC and it's fans by the time he comes to move on/retire.

Former Reading FC skipper Matt Mills has penned a letter to Royals' fans after his £4.5million move to Leicester City.

The four-year deal made him one of the Championship's highest earners but Mill explains that his move was prompted by a desire to play in the Premier League.

He also explains how manager Brian McDermott and the fans boosted his career and how Reading FC will always be a special club to him:

My first few months at Reading didn't pan out as the move I expected and wanted, but that all changed when Brian got the job and Gibbo became assistant manager.

They gave me a new lease of life, and the opportunity & coaching they gave me has honestly made me the player I am now.

At the whole club, every member of staff at the training ground and the stadium pulls together as one family, one community, and there's no question that helps in terms of results on the pitch. On top of that, hand on heart the players are the best group I'd ever had the privilege of working with.

Being part of the FA Cup runs we had under the manager and going from fourth bottom to eighth in the League was fantastic for every one of us.

Even though not getting Reading promoted was devastating, leading us out at Wembley was the proudest moment of my life. Looking up at the 40,000 Reading fans was magnificent, and I want to say thank you for the support you gave me, especially when I wasn't playing and when I made mistakes!

I left it a bit longer to get in touch just because I wanted to give things time to settle down a little bit. I know some people will be disappointed I left, I understand that and personally I had to make the decision for myself and my family. Reading will always be very special to me for the rest of my life, I hope the feeling is mutual.

All the best and good luck,

Matt.

Gentleman.

To think some of the Reading fans said what an arrogant arse he was as well.

Have a read around on their forum (Hob Nob Anyone) and they still hate the guy. Really hope we give him a huge welcome in two weeks time!

Sounds a bit like a letter you write to a bird after you've chucked her, but don't want her bad mouthing you to her mates! :crylaugh:
