Raw Dykes Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 I'm still pretty sure Waggy being included in the England U21s is a favour to Sven, and that video of them training with Waggy scoring a good goal was probably part of that, but him scoring that goal against Azerbaijan is genuine.
thybluefox Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 People need to remember 1 good strike does not make a quality striker. We all know his pro's and con's, he does have a strong left foot, and every so often one of those will go in. Although I'm not convinced a quality keeper couldn't have got a touch to it, seemed to go straight over him from the clip I saw (albeit on my phone). Anyway - plenty of shit strikers have scored wonder goals. Lets see how he does for Hull before we start whining about how crap Sven is.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Keeper should have saved his strike.

I'm certainly not moaning about sven as I back him to the hilt but waghorns not a "shit striker" so lay off the lad and give credit when its due
Finchy Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 He was given far too much space for that goal.
MGLCFC Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 I don't want to slate Waghorn as when he arrived at Leicester nearly everyone was pleased with the signing. But for what ever reason, playing out of position, lack of confidence, muscle bound, lack of composure, he certainly hasn't developed his potential over the last 12 months. I can't see him ever playing for Leicester again, the words Eriksson has said about him being our player, young and needing to play games are exactly the same as he said about Hobbs.
ShanieNo.1 Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Waggys got a lot of potentia.l I think his loan spell will provide him with the games that we can't and hopefully the experience and game time he needs. Time away playing at another club could be the key to him filling his potential and becoming consistent. Don't get me wrong it's a gamble to keep him rather than sell but hopefully it pays off, if not ship him out if it fails. Personally I hope it pays off. Fingers crossed.

That's called diplomacy but I agree with you. Managers believe in some players and not others and that shows in the players reaction to them sometimes. Sven might believe Waghorn needs time and experience but deep down I believe he thinks we can do better and, that being the case, Waghorn's been given the chance to build his career elsewhere. One problem for Waghorn is that he's not obviously versatile. He's just a striker whereas someone like Schlupp is adaptable and indeed, quite promising at full back. Schlupp also looks a more natural goalscorer. It pushes Waghorn down the pecking order. Good luck to the lad. Like you I doubt he'll be back in a City shirt. Some people take their opportunities here. Others don't.
