Agree with the comments above - a loan would be the best thing for club and player.

I think Waggy suffers from a lack of confidence not a lack of quality. I guess the question is whether, even if he goes out on loan and scores a shedload of goals, Svennis would give him a chance when he comes back or if he's decided he's definitely not going to be part of the team?

I think donny will enquire about waggy

I think that would be a good move for him - he'd fit in well with their style of football and would become a popular player no doubt. With their injury crisis, the boy could become a cult hero at a club I've always had a soft spot for.

Agreed. I hope Waghorn's situation is sorted out soon. He deserves to be in a first team somewhere.

I've always like Doncaster, as well. What is it about them that makes them likeable? I think their badge is sick. Maybe that's it.

Wouldn't mind seeing him at pboro either be intresting to see him down the middle kind of like a CMS type of player and pboro play alot of attacking football so would be intresting to see him there ?

I think Waggers just has to wait for his time Sven has said he is in his plans...somewhere but know Nugent is here he can only learn from him and who ever this mega signing striker is he will learn from him and hopefully develop in to someone very good, hopefully he will play against Rotherham and remind Sven that he is a good young quality prospect and might get 2 extra games to prove him self and gain so confidence back

No he didn't, he got bit parts. It was glaringly obvious that Gradel and DJ both had goals in them if used properly but this place has been a forward's graveyard for years. Apart from Kingy it's hard to think of one City striker in the last 10 years who's improved for being here. And who the hell is going to improve them when you look at our approach to attacking anyway?

This isn't a reactionary comment, I've said it consistently for years. Not only have we signed attackers who no scout should ever have recommended while sober but we've used central midfielders and full-backs on the wing, we've left players out after doing well, we've played people when they're not fit, have expected forwards to perform in a team full of defenders and messed people about something rotten.

Look at N'Guessan just as one example. Did he ever play two successive 90 minutes in the same position? Did he even play 90 minutes? It's not worth citing more examples because they abound. Hell we even did it with Dyer. leaving him out when he was arguably the most dangerous attacker in our team at the time, just as now.

With Waghorn I've no idea if he's really any good or not. I suspect not because he's so one footed, his pace doesn't last, he wants to blast the net apart instead of being ruthlessly disciplined and he's not the most natural passer. But he's still young, he's hardly been involved and we've forked out a fortune only to decide not to use him. Barmy! Yet someone like Vassell is kept constantly involved and for what? Precious little real return that I've seen so far, especially from the wing.

At least the rank bad singnings seem to have ended under the current regime but there are still lots of things i don't see - like pace, movement, people who can get past defenders and strikers who can score. That's a lot to be missing from a potential title challenger. And even when the attackers come who have we got among our coaches to bring the best out of em? Cos if there is anyone I've not seen signs of their input on the pitch.

Apart from when we were in league one, yeah, its been a bit of a graveyeard in terms of strikers scoring goals.

In terms of goals though? I mean, we scored more than QPR last season. Didnt we also have more shots on goal than anyone else? We've handed out some batterings at the walkers over the past couple of seasons too.

Interesting point you make about the coaches. Do you think this is a reason that DJ for example struggled? I mean yeah he did not get lots of game time but when he did he never seemed to be any better than what we already had.

I think what you're seeing missing from our team is definitley accurate, but then im not sure its Svens style to play flowing attacking football. i think the emphasis placed on improving the defence indicates a few one-nils and shut up shop, which can be hard on the heart rate, but ultimately if they get us promoted they'll do.

I think your right with the confidence thing, but there seems to be no middle ground with Sven, your either in or out, don't think Waggy would ever come back if loaned out, it would be the same as Hobbs and I wouldnt be shocked if Pearson came sniffing around, must be on Pearson's radar.

Completely agree with you there, I was going to post the same thing. Sven seems to be very black and white when it comes to who he rates. It does seem as though guys like Waggy and Hobbs who want(ed) an opportunity to do their best for City aren't given the chance because Sven has decided they're surplus to requirements no matter how well they train.

how do you know what they're like in training? hobbs was garbage last year. i know it was against man city but the 2 games he played against them last year was one of the worst examples of a centre back i'd ever seen. poor reading of the game, diving in, uncomfortable in possession, generally utter garbage. i liked waghorn when we had him on loan, but he's been hit and (more often) miss since we signed him. if sven doesn't want to play him then fair play. sven has been at the top end of the game for about 2 decades, pretty sure he's seen enough players to know who's decent and who's not

I don't know what they're like in training - I was suggesting that once Sven has decided you're out there's no changing his mind no matter how well you train / play / try. As for Hobbs, he may have had a poor season last year but how many City fans were saying he wasn't good enough before that? He was captain and player of the year for fooks seck! Maybe Sven was right to sell him and leave out Waggy - I wasn't saying he was wrong - I was just pointing out that Sven seems very black and white when it comes to who he rates and who he doesn't.

Did anyone else watch Waghorn's shooting practise after the rest of the team went in just before kick off, absolutely laughable, he must have had maybe 10 shots, all between 20-25 yards, every one of them was well high and wide!

His 3 or 4 free kicks when he came on were terrible, his corners are terrible, he was awful for 90 minutes against Rotherham on Tuesday night, looked totally uninterested and pissed off, also missed a sitter!

God only knows why he brought Waghorn on before Gallagher today!

This is the first time I've ever publicly had a pop at a player, but he is woeful, please sell him now while we can probably still scrape £1m for him!

And do you know who has been most consistant in the shooting practice sessions in every game I went to last season? (which wasn't every one admittedly) Howard: easily the most shots on target in pre-match shooting practice out of any of the strikers and midfielders doing it. So we should play Howard then?

It was just simply an observation, his free kicks and corners in the game were very poor, he loses the ball then sulks, for quite a strong very stocky lad, he's constantly falling over when touched by another player.

Many people have been slagging him off for months, I've sat here quietly reading, but it's now time to move him on, he wouldn't have even made the bench today had Vassell not been suspended.

That was just kinda the final nail in the coffin today seeing his shooting practise!

To be a professional footballer earning probably £10,000 a week and not be able to hit the target with a ball, especially being a striker is not acceptable

Can't live up to the standards he set in his Form season, shame really! Looked like he had potential but I now agree he's been given enough time to prove himself without impressing even slightly.

Goodbye Waggy will always get a good reception at the KP for his workrate and 110% effort always,

HE ONLY GOT LIKE 1 SECOND ON THE PITCH TODAY CAUSE SVEN HATES HIM...

Oh wait, he got plenty of time and proved that he's just as shit.

I wrote the same stuff in a thread after Milwall away last season. He was truly dreadful before, and at halftime in that game. It's surely a basic technique for a pro player to be able to hit the net without any pressure.

I really wanted him to be a success but I don't think it's gonna happen. Dunno what's wrong with the lad.

And folk wonder why, despite our millions, we have failed to land any top striker in the summer transfer market...

No-one wants to end up like Waggy - a big-money buy failing to fulfill potential, being knifed by management and fans alike, and heading for career oblivion within 12 months.

Yes he's entirely blameless.

How come Pearson could produce some form from him when Sven can't? (a question which could also be asked about Weale, Hobbs, Dyer and Fryatt)
